I think Shannon Sharpe did play basketball before, and Rex Ryan's lesser connection is once being Jets head coach. But yes, what does even Stephen A. if he was working with First Take today even know about either the Mets or Yankees???
And to this day, ESPN's decision to cut off a significant part of their MLB coverage to bring back the NHL games which is a failure in itself will be among their worst decisions ever.

It’s over $50 million difference - not $5 million. Easy math - $765 million with NO deferred money for 15 years is $51 million per year not including an option to increase to $55 million per year after 7 years. Yanks offer was $760 million for 16 years which is $47.5 million per year. Soto gets more money with the Mets for one less year - one less year means it’s worth over $50 million more. If Yanks offer was 15 years at the annual value of $47.5 million the contract value would be $712.5 million. The Mets offer is $52.5 million more without option increase.

Then I felt a strong hand on my back holding me down, then I heard a multitude of angels singing the most beautiful song i ever heard before, I knew it was a multitude of angel but they were so nsync with each other that it sounded as if it was one. • @titopancho

"Juan Soto didn’t leave for the Mets just to avoid the pressure the Yankees put on their players, and it wasn’t just for an extra $5 million. The Mets also offered him a $75 million signing bonus, which is significant. On top of that, we need to consider how the Yankees have historically treated Dominican players. A clear example is what happened with Soto: during the playoffs, he was the team’s best hitter, while Aaron Judge didn’t contribute much in the postseason. Yet, in the ceremony, they didn’t even mention him or invite him to the front. I’m sure that treatment had an impact and might have been part of the reason he didn’t stay with the Yankees."

But then the Dodgers do it, creates a mini all-star team, and nobody says anything... that's good for baseball. Cohen let those ppl into his head last off-season, wasn't going to make that mistake again.
