The MISSION FALLS 1824 is WONDERFUL
I agree Brenda, and I do feel that this Cotton Licious is very similar to the 1824 cotton.
Great podcast. You ladies are amazing knitters. Everything you knit is great. I watched the knit chat Tuesday. Cant wait to see which internet provider Kelly will have next week. Lol. I try not to miss any of your podcasts and knit chats. Noelle have your wine ready for next week lol. Love to laugh with you guys. You ladies inspire me so much to knit
Thank you Lillian! You have no idea how much we enjoy our time with all of you as well!💜
I think the Rising Stars idea was one of the best I've seen for a MAL. So much fun to choose a pattern that hasn't been done a bazillion times.
Thank you Sheela….we really enjoyed seeing all of the new projects as well!
Noelle you have very lucky grandchildren who receive beautiful hand knit sweaters and Kelly your grandchild will be just as lucky. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Thanks Debbie, I feel so lucky and blessed to have grandchildren to knit for 💕
Love this podcast - so inspiring
Thanks Julie 💕
Just found your podcast. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will have to go back to the start and binge watch.
Thanks Patti, glad you enjoyed the podcast, our regular episodes are numbered, this is where we discuss our FO’s and Wip’s etc... and our knit chats are informal live chats that we currently run Tuesdays at 7:00pm EST. Welcome to our channel 💕
I just relised I didn't get to finish watching this podcast and I had just stopped before you were sharing about the Shifty Along. Hee He. I just watched where I successfully enabled you Noelle. Oh and I am SO glad I did! It looks AMAZING and your handspun too! I am just about to do the ribbing on the bottom and then I am on Sleeve Island with you Noelle. 👍😆 This was another fun podcast to watch, thank you!
Thanks Mary, I just love knitting all the Shifty patterns 💕
Oh Noelle......that Warm Memories that you spun is just gorgeous!!
Thanks so much Linda. I am enjoying spinning so much!! I am very happy with how the Warm Memories fibre turned out. Being new to spinning, I find that each spin is a surprise, I can’t tell by looking at the fibre what I’m going to end up with.
@@KnitsnPieces Hello Noelle and Kelly. I’m so enjoying catching up on all the podcasts. I’ve been a subscriber from the beginning with Jacqueline but even though I’ve got the notifications on, it’s not working… for any of my subscriptions. Anyhoo… glad I’m back watching, wonderfully informative and great eye candy. Noelle: when did you start spinning, and did you get lessons or take classes? Beautiful stuff. 😍
Great podcast😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much MaryAnn!💜
loved every minute
Thank you so much Valorie!💜
Thank you for telling me how to avoid the jog when I knit garter stitch in the round. Brilliant! I wish you both a safe and happy Canada Day. I'll be celebrating, while maintaining physical distancing, here in Ottawa.
Thanks, hope you like using the garter technique, I really like the result that it produces. I’ll be spending Canada Day with my son, daughter in law and 2 of my granddaughters!!
I love your podcast! I watch your live videos on a Wednesday because here in South Africa your live videos are at 1 am!😀🤭 I will join again during your winter live episodes!
Thanks for catching up with us, glad you’ll be able to join us live again in the winter ❄️
that yell cardigan is so beautiful, i love the colors
Thanks so much Sandra, I am really enjoying knitting it 💕
Oh, and Kelly "WHO" is the innabler??? I now want to knit a bunch of mitered square washclothes like you and I always have Ravelry open when you gals mention all the things. 😆💖✨
Great episode!… I am NOT on a yarn diet either but also trying not to buy just for the sake of it… that said… all I can think of is “should I or should’nt I but some Noro for the Shift shawl!(lol). Kelly… when you decide on a Jennifer S pattern… let me know… have always wanted to knit one ( possible KAL?). Noelle… love your colourwork❤️. Have a great week!
Thanks Linda, colourwork is so enjoyable to knit. Kelly and I have both knit Jennifer Steingass patterns, and still have more in our favourites list. A possible fall KAL is a great idea. Would love for you to knit the Shift Shawl, maybe you have yarn in your stash that would work 😂, I have been trying to use stash yarn more often, but somehow my stash keeps increasing 🤦♀️
Thank you so much Kelly and Noelle, I will send you a message on ravery.
Congratulations Peggy and thank you for joining in our KAL!
I haven’t knit the shifty sweater but maybe the uneven increases allow for a few more stitches in the front for the bust and less in the back. Maybe?
She has released a new version, I haven’t checked it out yet though.
Am doin the winter beaches in style craft denim tweed lookin good
Can’t wait to see it Glenda. You will love knitting this cardigan!! ❤️
I am sooooo guilty of yarn piggery when it comes to Holst. Part of it is consolidating orders because of the shipping cost, part of it is the cost/skein (what's another couple dollars), but mostly it's just that I cannot make up my mind with so many choices. I'm so grateful I found them, they have made experimenting with color more affordable.
Hi Alison, totally agree the colours are so beautiful it’s hard to choose, I have a hard time not buying cones of everything because the price is so good!!
I found you both!!!!
We’re so glad you found us Bonnie, loved chatting with you last night 💕
@@KnitsnPieces ❤️
Where did you purchase the cones? Great podcast. Thank you
Thank you Margarita! We purchased the Holst yarn directly from the Holst Garn website in Denmark.
Noelle your colorwork is beautiful...would you ever think about doing a tutorial on colorwork?
Thanks You Robin, I knit my colourwork using the 2 hand technique, so knitting English style with the right hand and continental with the left hand. I always carry the colour that I want to pop in the left hand. When i do small circumference colourwork, I turn the work inside out. Kelly has a great tutorial for this on her tutorial channel ua-cam.com/video/wAzSBdf71VE/v-deo.html
Lovely podcast. I can't get the show notes to open. Thank you!
Thanks Kimmie. Here is the direct link for the show notes www.knitsnpieces.ca/shownotes_ep29.pdf
Kelly you know how hard it was NOT to buy from your update!!! Not like I don't have a ton
Oh Sue….you’re so cute!😊
Kelly I love your socks but could not find the pattern you suggested. Could you let me know. I am going to go take a craftsy class on portuguese knitting asap. Thanks. Fellow Canadian.
Hi Ruth! The sock pattern is Little Boxes Socks by Summer Lee. I’m sure you will enjoy the Portuguese knitting as well.
I love the yarn from holst. I received my order today. I do have a question, do you wash your yarn before you knit the garment. I ordered the super wash wool and it’s a bit rough. I saw a few other videos where the yarn was wash and then rewound. Thank you I really enjoy watching your podcast.
Thank you Linda. I do not wash the Holst before I knit with it. There was a lot of colour that came out of the dark grey when I washed a finished garment, but it did not transfer to other colours in the sweater, I’m hoping that the same will hold true for other colours, The sloe colour that I am working with now does transfer to my hands, I will talk about it on the podcast when I finish and block the sweater, hopefully it will not transfer to the other colour in the yoke of the sweater. The yarn may feel nicer to knit with if you wash if first, but so far I haven’t tried that. Let us know what you decide to do.
@@KnitsnPieces thank you I did wash 2 balls it’s definetly easier to knit with but still I think it will get better after another wash. I am going to try both ways thank you for your response. Enjoy your weekend. It’s going to be rainy here so I’m knitting Wooly socks:
Good to know Linda! Enjoy your weekend and sock knitting 😊
Please tell me where u got the cones.i did not understand what u said and I did not recognize in ur yarn list, Thank u
Hi Joetta, we ordered the cones directly from Holstgarn at this website holstgarn.dk/en/
In Norwegian kone means wife or woman. There might be a connection. ☺️
😂 I didn’t know that!!
Is your Tuesday night Knit Chat on ZOOM or another platform? How can I join?
Hi Brenda, the live chat is on our UA-cam channel, when you watch live you can participate by typing in comments and we see them as they are entered. You can even communicate with others viewers in the chat. We have a live chat every Tuesday at 7:00 pm EST, hope you can join us!
I'm enjoying your Tuesday Knit and Chat, but a few days late. I'm interested in the Kauni yarn Noelle is using for the sweater (June 15th Kn&Ch). I'm looking for gradient DK or worsted yarn. Where did you buy it? I'm in Edmonton and looking....
Hi Joan I know Noelle will get to this as soon as she can, But I think she got the Kauni at The Purple Sock in Coldwater, ON. I know The Purple Sock, did have it. You can call Lynn to see. It’s my local knitting store :) If you search on Ravelry under yarns, it will show stores that carry it too 👍🏼
Hi Joan, Tracey is right I did get the Kauni Effektgarn 8/2 that I’m using from the Purple Purl in Coldwater, Ontario. I also have another colourway that I got from Little Red Mitten in St Thomas Ontario. This yarn is classed as a sport, but if you check Ravelry, knitters have used it in projects requiring different weights of yarn.Kauni also has a website that you can order from kauni.eu/en/ but I’n not sure what the shipping charges are to different countries.
Great info thank you.
Where did you get the Cones
We get most of our Holst cones directly from Denmark her is the website holstgarn.dk
Ohhhhhh Noelle I saw this kids sweater and downloaded the pattern and it’s kinda confusing…
Hi Annette, which sweater are you referring too, French Macaroon or Colette?
@@KnitsnPieces oh sorry, yes the French macaroon
HI Annette, I agree that the pattern is not written in a conventional method.
Each size is a vertical column in the pattern, and you just need to follow each block in sequence.
You cast on the required stitches and knit to the specified length. This is where the yarn colour changes.
You then cast on stitches on each side for the sleeves and knit the specified length.
Stitches are then bound off in the middle of the work for the neck.
The back of the sweater is worked in the same manner except there is a small split at the neck to ensure that the neck is big enough to go over the head.
At this point the shoulders are joined using a three needle bind off, and the sides and underarms are seamed. I used a mattress to do this.
Hope this helps.
@@KnitsnPieces awww thank you, but will I be casting on when the color changes one side at a time? Like color change start I cast on right side turn, go across body and cast on for left sleeve?
Hi Annette, I did 2 rows in the new colour before casting on the sleeve stitches, the pattern does not say to do this but i think it makes the colour change easier.
