Hey, everyone. This is kind of a different video. Took me a while to write and rewrite and re-rewrite, and even after it was finished I debated with myself and my friends about whether or not I should make it public. There's still a lot I'd change about this, and a lot more I wish I had the time or ability to say the way I want. But Stan was always in a constant state of creation, making one thing and moving on to the next. I wanted to take a page from his playbook there and not leave this video shelved forever. The characters Stan co-created with all the other talented artists and writers over at Marvel have impacted my life more than anything, and I hope this video is a small step towards showing my deepest gratitude. Thanks, Stan.
People like Stan still give me hope in this world, and even though he died, his characters are still a part of him, a part of him that will live on forever as long as marvel keeps going, and spiderman is the best example of what he represented, and I know I'll never lose the respect I have for him. I remember when I was 11 years old, I went to my first ever Comic-Con in New York with my family. I heard Stan Lee was going to be there at the time, and I thought, "This is my moment, this is where I'm going to meet him and tell him how grateful I am for the influence his creations have had on me!" Alas, all we saw was a sign saying Stan would be there to sign autographs the day BEFORE we went... We had just missed him. I was disappointed for sure, but I still held on to hope that one day, I would get to shake Stan's hand, get an autograph and picture with him, and say "Thank you, Stan, for everything". Unfortunately, that day will never come to pass now. Not meeting Stan Lee and tell him "thank you" will probably be one of my biggest regrets in life. But actions speak louder than words. Stan's passing still has not fully resonated with me yet, and I am just starting to realize how much I will miss him. But he has given me everything I need as an aspiring artist and creator. Each of us, whether we're an artist, a writer, a musician, or a scientist has the power to spread more positivity in the world and make it a better place, now it's our responsibility to use those talents in a way that will make Stan proud, and tell him, "Thank you, Stan, for everything". Anyways, I wanted to just say something real quick with my connection to The Man. I am a comic writer and artist (Sunday comics right now, with a small story in a free anthology book), but I have plans to be a full on comic book writer, because of Stan Lee. I grew up reading Spider-Man, and I know he hasn't written something Spider-Man for a long time, but the character has been my favorite, and he was a coping mechanism for when I had a really tough time in my life where I didn't know if I could even trust my own family. I'm getting real personal, but the point is, Stan Lee's creations changed me, on a massive level, and I was like you, Scott, where I wanted to meet this legend, even with all of his faults. Not just in honor of Stan Lee, but in honor of what he built, because sometimes... The world just needs one more Stan Lee. Thanks, Scott. I needed this... Now, if you don't mind, I'm gonna go cry my eyes out as I write the next story with Stan Lee's spirit in my heart and soul. See ya.

Wow, Scott. I'm crying, here. I've watched a lot of Stan Lee tributes and retrospectives since his passing, and this is the first one that's made me feel the loss of Stan as viscerally and emotionally as the day he passed. Great work, Mr. Niswander. Excelsior!
That was such a beautiful heartfelt video and I can think of a better way to remember Stan Lee. I grew up with the 90s marvel cartoons and they helped mould my perspective on life. They taught me to be inclusive of everyone despite their differences, in some cases they may be what gives them strength; to always do the right thing even if it is to your own detriment and to look out for the outcasts of which I always felt like one. I never had the exposure to the comics growing up but I keep meaning to read the classics of which I now own dozens of collected editions. Regardless of the medium though the message is still the same and is deeply woven into my identity. Thanks for such a moving video Scott
I came out of school ready to go home, then I checked my phone. My cousin had texted me an article. I opened it up, then the tears rolled 😭. Stan was dead 😭😭😭😭😭
Love the emotion in this video Scott. We all know Stan had his faults and we can talk about then again in the future but there is NO denying that he made a huge difference to the world...
As someone who’s been shaped by Stan Lee’s stories, writings and characters I never really felt sad for his death, he was everything to me but I didn’t care my eyes would full with tears but, never fall to my cheek my stomach would tighten but I just didn’t grief like I should that’s when I found out it wasn’t the man to remember Stan lee wasn’t Stan lee without marvel I was sad these stories were ending I don’t know why but celebrities are just humans to me. And as humans we forget we’re nothing without our accomplishments or fans Stan lee was a great man no doubt about that but, did you remember the man, or his creations?
I’m rewatching this one year later. And honestly, his death still hasn’t completely sunk in for me. He is my creative hero, and he’ll always be missed.
I got to know this beautiful world of comics just few years ago but still feel connected to Stan Lee very strongly so I can understand for how it must be for all of you reading these comics for entire of your childhood . This was beautiful Scott .
There's only so long to live in this world , and I like to think that Stan Lee lived his life to the fullest. I never got to meet him but I'm glad that you did.
This video made me cry a bit. Stan Lee was and is always gonna be one of my heroes. I sadly never got to meet him. Thanks for sharing your memory of meeting him.
Great job Scott! Really heart-felt and you can see the amount of work dedicated to it. Also, you yelling at 1960s Stan Lee to calm down was truly magical
I went back and forth between breaking down throughout the video, but that final excelsior... Wonderful work Scott, and I'm so happy you were able to meet your hero.
Well done, sir. I absolutely cried when you showed the picture of you meeting Stan. Such a meaningful moment and I'm so happy for you that you got to meet him. Thank you for making this.
Honestly, whenever I read old Silver Age Marvel Comics, I always read the narration boxes in Stan Lee’s voice. Still can’t believe it’s been almost two years now since he passed. R.I.P. to the grandfather of Marvel Comics. You will be forever remembered, Stan Lee. Excelsior.
Reasons why manga is better than comics: -All characters from the Manga industry are owned by the author who created them. While the characters in the comic industry are owned by the company. Also the reason why anime or manga is a lot better is because of the continuity of their stories. Meanwhile, the comic industry has a culture of rebooting their stories. - Manga tells story while comics in genaral tends to focus more on political propagandas
@@geraldbataga7510 First of all, no one was talking about whether or not Manga is better. Secondly, as a reader of both, there’s probably some political messages in manga as well that aren’t as obvious because it comes from a different culture. All meaningful art is political and the ones that try not to be are political by saying “they love the status quo.”
This video made me cry I had the opportunity to meet Stan Lee at Denver Comic Con in 2016 and it was probably the greatest moment of my life. RIP Stan Lee
Guys, I think nerds around the world should make something in Stan´s birthday. Like a day to conmemorate all comic book creators, known and less known as equals for one day.
Thank you; thank you so very much for making this video. I'm one of the people in the comments who asked you to make this; even though I'm not a supporter. Life has never been easy for me; so being able to go to Comic Book Conventions and seeing Stan Lee was never something I was able to do. Couldn't afford the tickets. So I never got to mean the man, and now will never get this amazing opportunity ever again. I felt the pain of missing out seeing Stan; how you brushed it off like it was okay, when I knew it wasn't. I think everyone could tell what a big deal it was for you, but I felt it because I will never mean the man. I know you said you didn't want to make this but... you made me cry... Your words about meaning him; how Stan Lee touched your life, how his life will be felt forever. You made me cry, and for that; I thank you. This was the single best tribute to Stan Lee I've seen since his death! For that; I can't thank you enough.
R-I-P Stan Lee.Your boundless creativity will leave on with the legendary characters you co created with the other impactful artists and creators.Thank you Stan.
Honestly speaking, about last year, my class was being given those motivational speeches, y'all know how they go, then they asked, "who is your role model?" People said their own like Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Martin Luther King heck even Drake, but when the teacher asked me, I legit says Stan the Man Lee and people wondered and asked who he was, (I live in Kenya so not many people knew him) I told them "you know the old guy who appears in Marvel movies?" And they shrugged saying no, some even began giggling in the corner and that pissed me off, so I said "The man who created spider Man, the X men, fantastic four and... My childhood!" And people started looking around asking themselves if it was true and sure even started clapping coz they finally recognized him and that made me happy, we even went to watch infinity war with a couple of those guys who got interested in comics coz of me and that... Makes me happy ! Rip Stan
This was by far the best memorial video for stan that I’ve seen. The best editing, writing, and I could tell that it came from a real place. This is the reason your my favorite UA-camr
Stan lee was part of my life, from the 1st iron man, to infinity war, the spider man movies, and the spectacular spider-man series. I will never forget the man who inspired me to write... to dream a story thst should be told :( Im going to miss you Stan Lee, Excelsior...
I got the opportunity to meet Stan Lee and get my photo taken with him a couple years back when I went to my very first Fan Expo (and my first big con) in Toronto. Sure I paid money for it but since I live in Canada and that was the last time Stan Lee was coming to Fan Expo, I wasn't going to get an other chance. That was a huge day for me. He shook my hand and asked me how my day was going. Me being an awkard bean barely manage to get out a "good" before the photo was taken. I had the biggest smile on my face in that picture, I don't remember being so happy to meet someone. After the photo was taken but before we were ushered out, I managed to thank him for everything he's done. Whenever I watched a Marvel movie afterwards, I could say "I actually met him."
I jumped when I recognized Geoff's voice. Then I remembered the plug he did last week for his video the other day. Great to see my favorite creators supporting each other.
Best. NerSync. Video. Ever. I (like many others) grew up with Stan Lee and I cried for 3 days when I heard of his passing. I subscribed to NS over a year ago and I really enjoy the channel's content. Always thought-provoking & interesting but I've never commented before. Now with passing of Stan The Man and the obvious labor of love this was for NS? I HAD to. Gut-wrenchingly honest vid NS Team and befitting the passing of the comic book industry's most fertile creative mind and prominent voice. "THANK YOU, Stan!" just doesn't say what I'm feeling...Stan & his creations have been a part of my life since the 6th grade and now they're a part of my children's lives and they show no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. THANKS for posting Scott & the NS Team! VERY well done! God Bless you Stan, RIP. Your absence will be forever felt in my, the Marvel and every other universe... You will be SORELY missed.
As a shy introvert kid, I found solace in cartoons and comics and Batman and Spiderman were my favorite. Still are. This video just made me remember those days. Still in tears
I can not even begin to say how amazing this video came out. It has so much emotion and passion in this. By far your best work I've seen you do. Just amazing
It definitely feels like a family member passed away. What do I mean "feels" like? He WAS a family member. Stan "The Man" Lee. The uncle to every comic book reader ever. I'm happy he got to see his legacy grow beyond just the "funny papers". He will be missed but because of his work, we will always keep him alive in our hearts. Thank you for sharing this video!
Damn, I thought I had already processed Stan's passing... I just found this video, and wow, all the feelings came back, and now I'm ugly crying all over the clothes I was ironing while listening. This video... What a beautiful tribute!
I had the absolute honor of meeting him and getting a picture with him at a Convention photo op shortly before he passed. I was so nervous to meet one of my personal GODS that I could barely even look at him. I swooped in, they snapped the picture, the photographer yelled "NEXT!!" and I headed off to leave, but as I was gathering my stuff I heard "Thank You" in that absolutely ICONIC voice and I nearly passed out I was so surprised and so nervous I just bowed and say "Thank You" back and then went off to get the print of my picture. It was mere seconds, but it made an impact on me. I am now in the process of writing my OWN comics....or attempting to at least. It's HARD, but I want to bring these characters to the world just like he did.
Thank you Scott. I actually cried the day I found out. This man has so much contribution to my child hood, that it's hard to remember that he wasn't a family member.
Scott, I just felt the need to say this, as a long time fan of Marvel comics and Stan Lee's work the news of his death hit me pretty hard. Harder than most celebrity deaths do at least. But I hadn't been able to put those feelings into words and I mostly just tried to ignore the news and I even ignored the recent Marvel trailers that had come out, just so I wouldn't have to think about Stan Lee's passing. I know it might sound stupid, why should I care so much about some comic book writer. But this video helped me realize why I cared so much. Stan Lee wrote comic books that helped me a lot growing up, seeing spider-man struggling with teenage issues and the X-Men struggle with fitting in just connected with me and made me realize I could make it through whatever life threw at me. Stan Lee made stories that shaped me as an adult in so many ways and your video really helped me come to terms with the way I was feeling since his passing. So Scott thank you from the very bottom of my heart, thank you for making this video and sharing a little of your own love of the great Stan Lee. Keep up the awesome work and Excelsior!
I just have to say when my father left when I was about twelve I was immediately absorbed in comic books be it dc or marvel but I just have to say I was effected by Stan Lee’s death like many others but your video truly brought me to tears, for a single person to show me a lonely kid at the time lost and confused that u don’t need superpowers to be super you just need to be a super person. Thank you so much for your dedication to this subject and I never knew how much he truly effected my life through even things such as manners all the way to my morals in my daily life. Thank you so much for opening up to this community and thank you so much for reminding me that even 1 person in this case you Scott, can make people realize we can all be heroes in our daily lives. I truly felt your emotions through this video and I just want to thank you for that. EXCELSIOR my friend EXCELSIOR
The old Marvel comics are the only old comics (basically pre 80s) I can still read now and enjoy. Sure there are dated aspects but it's so clear that they never were written to pander to kids. They helped me expand my vocabulary and learn so much about science and myth reading compilations when I was a kid. And even with all the ostentatious vocabulary and complex emotions I understood and related so much to these stories while utilizing the escapist fantasy. I was a nerdy kid who felt like an outcast and these bigger than life heroes who also dealt with real world problems made me feel connected. They're the best type of superhero stories. They were so often not stories about unapproachable superpowered beings, but of humans who are also super powered. I can relate intensely to your story and desire to meet Stan. Those original stories will always hold a special place in my heart. I've had a love hate relationship with comic books and comic book media for awhile but nothing will ever supplant my love for those stories written by Stan. Beautiful video. Excelsior!

Stan is no longer just a man. He is now a legend. As long as people remember him, he is never truly gone
It still hurts. Rest in Peace Stan Lee. Thanks Stan Lee for creating marvel, nah being marvel
I came out of school ready to go home, then I checked my phone. My cousin had texted me an article. I opened it up, then the tears rolled 😭. Stan was dead 😭😭😭😭😭
I found out when I was watching some MCU movies with my friends
I found out through my friend texting me "How are you doing?" I knew something was up. I check twitter, and just felt my heart sink.
Same here 😔😔 he made our childhoods great I'm still in denial I'm still kind of depressed
Love the emotion in this video Scott. We all know Stan had his faults and we can talk about then again in the future but there is NO denying that he made a huge difference to the world...
Absolutely! He was human, just like the rest of us. But I believe he put more good into the world than harm, and that's all we can aim for.
As someone who’s been shaped by Stan Lee’s stories, writings and characters I never really felt sad for his death, he was everything to me but I didn’t care my eyes would full with tears but, never fall to my cheek my stomach would tighten but I just didn’t grief like I should that’s when I found out it wasn’t the man to remember Stan lee wasn’t Stan lee without marvel I was sad these stories were ending
I don’t know why but celebrities are just humans to me.
Stan truly is The Man. He did amazing things for comics and movies.
He and his fellow artistic collaborators have literally changed the world. It's a legacy he got to see unfold, and it is inspiring.
I got to know this beautiful world of comics just few years ago but still feel connected to Stan Lee very strongly so I can understand for how it must be for all of you reading these comics for entire of your childhood .
This was beautiful Scott .
Rest in peace stan Lee. Thank you for being the first true believer and inspiring others to read between the panels. #Excelsior
There's only so long to live in this world , and I like to think that Stan Lee lived his life to the fullest. I never got to meet him but I'm glad that you did.
Loved this, sad thing Stan the man died on my birthday.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
So sad every year wow from now on you will have another thing to remember and that is Stan the man lee
Mister . D he died 3 days before mine
Massive chills and tears 😭😭😭
R.I.P Stan Lee ❤
Sorry for all the feels 😅
@@NerdSyncProductions OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I saw ur Instagram and didn't think u would see my comments I'm gonna cry
Well done, sir. I absolutely cried when you showed the picture of you meeting Stan. Such a meaningful moment and I'm so happy for you that you got to meet him. Thank you for making this.
Someone's cutting onions in here, I swear.
Those damn onion cutting ninjas
😭what? I’m not crying I’m yawning 😭
Excelsior.
Reasons why manga is better than comics:
-All characters from the Manga industry are owned by the author who created them.
Really loved the dual story telling you did throughout the video, this was a really great tribute great job Scott...and thank you Stan Lee📖❤️
Thanks, Jordan! I was worried that people wouldn't like it. Happy to hear that you did!
@@NerdSyncProductions oh man I'm freaking out that you actually replied thank you😂 keep doing great videos I'm always anticipating the next one 👌
This video made me cry I had the opportunity to meet Stan Lee at Denver Comic Con in 2016 and it was probably the greatest moment of my life. RIP Stan Lee
That was so heartfelt and emotional. Thanks Scott! Keep up the great work! Love your channel!
A lovely, caring tribute. Thank you for opening up and sharing. This was beautiful.
This was an amazing, touching video. Stan Lee was a wonderful person.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! Sad about the circumstances that led it to being made.
This hurts and heals my heart at the same time. I am glad you got to meet him. I LOVE your story telling style.
RIP Stan Lee
Thank you for making this public Scott. I'm in tears. This was so beautiful.
I love the video quality lately! Keep up the good work. :)
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me that people are digging it.
It's crazy he's been gone this long... I'm glad I've found your story, and your channel. It's been one of my best finds so far this year.
I'm still effected by it too and I never got to meet him
R-I-P Stan Lee.Your boundless creativity will leave on with the legendary characters you co created with the other impactful artists and creators.Thank you Stan.
Thank you Stan, Jack, Steve and Joan.
Yes! Absolute legends each one!
This was the first and so far only UA-cam video to make me cry. Thank you, Scott, for making this fantastic video.
Rip Stan
That's a great story! Glad people saw how much he meant to you!
thathappend
I was lucky enough to meet Stan at a local convention and even though it was only a few seconds where I got to thank him, I'll never forget it.
Wow. This is basically the only video on UA-cam with no dislikes (so far)
There is one dislike, and it's probably Bill Hader
I found one dislike.........
-it was me-
BargrosNintendoGames you ruined it man
Theres 12 now
It was good while it lasted, haha
This was by far the best memorial video for stan that I’ve seen. The best editing, writing, and I could tell that it came from a real place. This is the reason your my favorite UA-camr
Dude I have to hear about how Mysterio changed your life!
Mysyerio changed all of our lives.
I watched this again a few weeks before what would have been Stan’s 100th birthday. And again I cried. Thank you for sharing this.
Appropriate slow clap for this one. Excellent stuff..
Stan lee was part of my life, from the 1st iron man, to infinity war, the spider man movies, and the spectacular spider-man series. I will never forget the man who inspired me to write... to dream a story thst should be told :(
Im going to miss you Stan Lee, Excelsior...
Was the Spider-Man Halloween mask made by Jack Kirby on the tree - beautiful video scott , truly shows the magic Stan expressed through his comics.
I thought it was a funny touch. I wanted to include more props from other videos this year, but thought it'd be distracting.
This was a very nice video except for the part where I got some dust or something in my eyes and then teared up. Thank you.
I jumped when I recognized Geoff's voice. Then I remembered the plug he did last week for his video the other day. Great to see my favorite creators supporting each other.
Stan was a cool guy
Gracias por tu vídeo hermoso. Me gustó tu frase al final: "Get smarter through comics." Es obvio que pusiste tu corazón en este trabajo. Gracias.
I'M NOT CRYING!!! YOUR CRYING!!!!
♥♥♥ EXCELSIOR! ♥♥♥
Best. NerSync. Video.
You are so amazing Scott
@Logan Grover excelsior🤘
No contest. Stan was is a legend.
As a shy introvert kid, I found solace in cartoons and comics and Batman and Spiderman were my favorite. Still are. This video just made me remember those days. Still in tears
Scott you were adorable as a kid. great video
I tried WAY too hard to be cool, haha. Thanks!
I remember I watched an interview once, he would name his characters of sounds he heard. The man is a legend. Thank you Mr Lee.
I guess one person can make a difference.
I can not even begin to say how amazing this video came out. It has so much emotion and passion in this. By far your best work I've seen you do. Just amazing
Excelsior!
No dislikes im happy
It was good while it lasted, haha
Don't look now my dude.
The directing of this video is way better than directing of 85% of full-time cinema movies I've seen. Amazing work. Great tribute. Excelsior!
Oh
This almost made me cry. RIP Stan Lee
Dude, that "more good than harm" bit has me legit choked up. Kudos.
15:58 We all remember Stan because he put more good out into the world, into us, than anyone else ever could.
Those last minutes made me cry. Thanks for this Scott, it was an amazing tribute to The Man.
Excelsior!
Never thought I would cry watching this. But you did what you do and by the time the picture of you and Stan poped out I cried a lil. 💜
