Thank you for your advice! I have seen it done that way but I just wanted to have something up to help keep the heat in the garage while I go out to work on my car. It's working really well, when it was 30 degrees outside it was 75 in my garage! If I were keeping it heated all the time I would have gone about it another way. I think you should be installing it on the roof sheathing. Not the rafters

I may have to use some on our travel trailer windows when we camp in the cold months
Takes me longer with a bad leg but I get it done!👍
