OK! This comment is way overdue. I thought people would read the description more often, but I guess not. I've got a few things to address First up, I made this video when I had like 72 subs, I didn't think it would blow up! Thank you very much for watching! 1. My audio is bad. Yes, I realized. This is fixed though. I ordered one after my sacred seals video. All my video starting from my "best claws guide" uses the new mic. 2. Loretta's Greatbow/Loretta's Mastery is NOT affected by the glintstone staff (fml, the one thing I decided to trust the wiki and it comes back to bite me in the ass). I should've tested this myself, but I was like "oh, people aren't going to be bored enough to put this here if it wasn't buffed." Sigh~ (Yes, when I made this video the wiki stated that Loretta's spells are buffed by glintblade staff. It's fixed now). 3. Infinite mana physic! I did forget to include this! Thank you for pointing it out. It definitely makes Lusat's much more usable, but it only lasts for 15 seconds and imho doesn't make Lusat's that much better. 4. Talisman/"just get more mind" I will address this in my dual wield staff video. I didn't mention this, but these are actually points that make Lusat even "worse". 5. Talk more about dual wield staves. As per my description, this video is more about using a single staff rather than pure sorc with dual wielding. I will be making a follow up video on dual wielding staves. I didn't want the video to be 30min long! 6. Taking into account defense. Ok, this is a good argument for multi-hitting spells + Lusat's to make the damage % gain "higher" than 10%. However, defense isn't as punishing in ER as DS3, so the difference is usually not much. I didn't want to add 10 minutes to the video explaining defense just to give an argument on Lusat's. This will also be covered in the dual wield video. Here is the def calc video if you're interested in knowing more about split scaling and how defense works. I already simplified it: ua-cam.com/video/WTxOJdn3uhk/v-deo.html 7. Finally, overall, my opinion after trying Lusat's and Carian Regal is I still rather run Carian Regal over Lusat's. You, however, are not forced to agree with me. If you think the other youtubers are right or you're just used to Lusat's I'm not trying to stop you from using it. Just try giving Carian Regal a go. You might still think Lusat's is better and that means the damage tradeoff to FP is worth it for you! It just isn't worth it for me.
Your good man. No need to explain or correct yourself. Let the comments sort themselves. Just make a new video, make up for it with more and better content. It is youtube, show don't tell. Oh, and stop reading the comments. You know you have been told this before.
If someone is at 65 int for some reason, academy glintstone staff is still the best. PVE Consideration: Also, at approx. 50 int and you're choosing between radagon soreseal and magic scorpion charm? the scorpion charm generally gives significantly better damage than the extra 20 int basically (52->72 int). You may want to still choose the higher int for a specific spell/ staff bonus tho. Example: my stats are running thin because I'm using shield and I still wanna use a moon spell, I can use soreseal to sacrifice negation for more int (the shield offsets this).
In Dark Souls 2 the 2 "best" staffs people would use in pvp where longer than all the others, because spells came out from the tip of the staff, when facing a mage experience players would rush them so the spell would go over their head, when this happened to me I got the idea of taking a shorter staff that barely does less damage, but because no one else did that, other players would just rush at me not knowing it and would just get head shooted by a crystal spear. Edit: The Staff of Amana.
@@sebastienvondoom8615 it's such a bad thing, ER don't have any weapon-catalyst weapons. Dark souls 2 had like 4, ds3 2 and their biggest project none? Bruh all count on DLC now

The staff of loss in your offhand and night comet together is the best spell in the game. At least the most efficient. I recommend everyone give it a shot. You will be amazed
Hi! I've had a few mentions on another video discussing night comet with staff of loss combo on the off-hand. I'm actually planning a dual wield video to show people that it is possible to outperform carian regal/lusat's + staff of loss + night comet! It will also include other "spell specific" combos. Dual wield is too much to discuss into this one video, so I left it for another one and gave the brief staff bonus chart.
@@Chrightt Well hurry up and make the video! We are dying in suspense and you just gained a new subscriber! Since Elden ring I just turned a die hard sorcerer from never touching it really except for weapon buffs and tricks in pvp from previous games.
This is so informative. I love the summarised recommendations at the end too. I was running Carian Glintstone Staff at 60 int maining adula's moonblade on bosses. But now that I have 80 int, I'll try the Carian Regal Sceptre!
One of the things people also don't bring up when talking about lusat's vs regal Scepter is that a good opponent will put pressure on a mage and try to close the distance. The greatest opportunity to punish said mage is when they are chugging fp. So consuming more fp makes it easier to punish you since you will need to drink more often.
Yeah good point but that mostly affects PvP which is a lot rarer than PVE. The other thing is I am curious about is Id think even with the insane extra FP consumption you should still be able to take out PvP opponents without any refill whatsoever. But that obviously depends on the spells you’re using and your base FP. Lusats is def overrated 11% more damage for 50% more FP is such a bad trade
I know this is only about spellbuff and spell passives and all but another thing to consider about Carian Regal Sceptre for a mage is the unique version of the Spinning Weapon AoW, being a bit safer to use and the damage scaling off Int and Magic Scorpion for when an enemy starts closing the gap.
Actually I do believe you can put the spinning weapon ash of war on almost any staff and it will be identical to the carian regal scepter. Although I’m not sure why the carian regal is the only staff to come with it inherently on the weapon. A lot of people don’t know you can add ashes of war to staves but you can, although tbf I don’t think any work besides spinning weapon
The amount of time and detail that went into this video and also the fact that’s it’s easy to understand made me hit the like and subscribe button, good video !!!
I just kind of wish there wasn’t just one best staff for the first half of the game. The meteorite staff beats everything for far too long (especially when you hold whichever staff buffs the spell type you’re casting in your off hand, doesn’t even need to be upgraded)

Interesting video I didn't realize how much I was gimping myself with lusats with such little return in comparison to a fully upgraded one of the other staves you mentioned definitely gonna try those out
Very informative! You did phenomenal work. Personally I enjoy using the stuff of loss on my left with my main staff on the right. The night sorceries are invisible to enemy ai so they don't dodge which is nice in pve. I'm taking this info you displayed to tweak my build to help in pvp. Thx again!
@@asdergold1 in comparison to regular spells, they dodge a fuck ton less which is nice lol. The new update made a lot incantations better as well so I'm excited to try them a lot more in pvp situations.
I'd argue that the briar spells are intended for sorcerers who invested in faith just enhough to use those spells, but with the regular staffs. the staff of the guilty is actually for the reverse of that: faith builds with minimal intelligence investment to unlock low level sorceries, which can be cast at high spellbuff because of the faith scaling. golden order builds can get even more spells for their build, at the cost of less spellbuff.
Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, there should only be a "school" of magic that can be boosted if there are at least 5 spells associated with it. The stuff like Blood Sorcery that has exactly 2 spells in it (which is odd because blood magic is split between these 2 and then 3 incantations) shouldn't have so much gear associated with it when it's just 2 spells. Same thing with Bubble Magic and the Digger Spells, each of which also only have 2 spells associated with them. At least Death magic has about 5 spells and Gravity magic about the same. That to me is enough to theme a school around.
@@MidlifeCrisisJoe In the case of Bubble magic, it also applies to the Envoy weapons and their WAs to significant effect. Otherwise, I do agree with you.
and perhaps labeled in game; less is more until it isn't. In fact, outside of looking a spell up on Fextralife, I still can't tell which school is which in game and I have 180hours as a sorcerer. What's more is that the spells generally seem more circumstantially specialized or just generally garbage.
Great video, I agree with your conclusions for your staff picks between 60-80 int for general play. At the early game- mid game I think meteorite staff is the best choice due to the sheer effectiveness of rock sling and is what I used until 60 int, however if you have the mats you can upgrade another staff while using meteorite and swap over when the scaling is better, in the case you're not using rock sling that much. I think there is a case when lusats is optimal and that is when using the cerulean hidden tear for infinite fp at 70+ int, using this combo in conjunction with comet azur or meteorite of astel can provide ridiculous damage and melt bosses, so is better to use lusats staff in this situation, as when you have infinite fp using another staff would just be leaving damage on the table.
So if you have decided to not actually play the game Lusat is optimal… nice to know, I’ll make sure to inform the game reviewers and small children who want to play.
Frost mist into Night Maidens Mist eats most stuff alive, pair it with the dearling skull and you've denied sprinting up to you for a solid 7-10 seconds
12:27 Must be addee this info: Death Magic will not deal its full damage unless you are using an INT FTH scalign staff. If you use a nornal INT scaling staff. the Death Spells will only use 50% of the sorcery scaling as its sorcery scaling. So... if you have 390 sorcery scaling on your usual INT staff, and you use your usual Rancorcall, it will use 60% of the 50% of the sorcery scaling for its damage. But if you use Deathprince, and you have 45 45. Now it will use the 50% of the 373 sorcery scaling. So even if the staff says "Roughly 10% damage bonus" Its still necessary that your staff uses both. This is almost the exact same way Dark Magic used to work on Dark Souls.
@@TheMaxCloud i'm not sure if i understand what you're saying. If i use a int scaling staff to cast a death spell it would be using only half of the sorcery scaling, so it would deal half the dmg that a staff with int and faith would deal with the same scaling? Because this sounds incorrect, int only staffs still do more dmg with death spells on int build with minimum faith requirement vs prince of death.
@@sieg5573 Yeah, it seems it was a stealth changed at some point I believe. But, you can do more damage with Prince of Death cause 45/45 gives you more damage than Full 99 in an INT only staff.
Just wanted to say, in case you’re a hybrid build (str/dex/quality- Ish)and you stop int at 50 since majority of AoW/somber weapons softcap there, the best staves are carian glintblade, at 263, you only lose 2 points compared to astrologier and 6 to academy, but you get a boost to all carian techniques that have floating swords to them, on the other hand, carian glintstone boost carian slicer, adula moonblade, piercer and greatsword, sitting at 257 scaling at 50 int, so it’s a good alternative if you’re looking to use those powerful sorceries!
I usually don't comment on videos but I want to thank you for taking the time to analyze, compile and presenting this data to us. I grew really tired of all the clickbait videos sourrounding staffs and other things. Especially when content creators half-assed them or straight up spread false information. This helped me optimizing my sorcerer/strength hybrid build.
Great video. One thing to consider as you play the game is that it might be a lot easier to get the regal staff to +9/+10 than some of the others to +24/+25. And for me, right now, that makes the regal staff a lot better than others - even at INT 60.
Well done. I like to see the math and work shown. You should do bleed weapons next. I'm very interested in the numbers of what does how much on the bleed end. Subbed.
The next one will be on sacred seals, but the one after that... all I got to say its something you will want to know if you play bleed. The specifics that go behind stats and scaling!
There's a staff you get from the guys next to Volcano Manor that does bleed damage and boosts thorn sorcery called the Staff of the guilty. I wonder if it will add to bleed damage from other weapons like uchigatana. Worth it?
Great analysis! For a while I was wondering whether Lusat's was worth it or not and your video saved me the effort of doing my own tests. I guess its best to go Regal for regular use and Azur or Carian staves for PVP as of the current patch.
I'm gonna go ahead and play "Blood star's advocate" with the staff of the guilty. After the buff, Briars of sin is absolutely worth building a whole character around, especially in invasions. Briars of sin now has buffed damage, buffed speed, and most importantly, massive hyper armour, and due to it being a chain cast of 3 stages, you can combo 2 of those out of a quick Carian Slicer. The 3rd hit of Briars of sin rollcatches very well, and the total damage you can get with CS -> 2 Briars is often enough to kill anyone who hasn't pumped their vigour high enough. The 2nd briar can be seamlessly transitioned into projectiles in case a host or phantom starts to run. You can either run 14 int to save for stats or 15 to use icecrag, but both icecrag and glintstone pebble's 2nd cast transitions into a briars of punishment. This has always been there but its still not a bread and butter so back then it was absolutely not worth building around but with Sin in the picture, I'd argue its very much worth it. How you should be using these spells, is as a finisher when your opponent isn't even aware they're in range to be finished. A weapon like a scythe can easily get bleed buildup even when dodged, and a good mix of glintshards and pebbles can get a little of your opponents health down, just high enough to where they don't wanna waste a heal over it. This is where you bait everyone into being aggressive, space a good safe slicer, and boom, briars of sin. If it doesn't kill the host it almost always will kill the phantom and vice versa. TL;DR after the patch Briars of Sin is so strong in invasions I would wholeheartedly suggest building a faith caster around the 2 spells we have.
As a quick follow up, I mentioned this before but 14 int is a magic number, allowing you to use a lot of low int staples, such as Carian Slicer, Magic Glintblade, Swift Glintshard, and Glintstone Pebble, the real trade of the build is exchanging spells like Comet, which I'd argue could be worth it. As a side note, I like to use weapons I'd typically not expect alongside a sorcerer, like a Flaming Strike Grave Scythe or even Black Flame Tornado for a strong punish.
Here’s to hoping they throw some golden order-looking staff in the DLC. The scaling curve on golden order seal (excluding weapons buffs) seems really forgiving for a pvp int/faith build. Would love to see a 50/50 int faith staff that can get a little closer to backloaded int staves.
Wow, look at this and using the calculator I was surprised to find that my strength build benefited most from the Gelmir staff. I have some points in faith and int, former for buffs and later for some weapon requirements. I had looked into adding some sorceries to the mix to give me more ranged options and this was really informative.
@@judasdeschain8965 you dont get it lol. Gravity bolt isnt a projectile its just called doqn on the enemy. So no matter how far away they jump. Its guaranteed to hit unless theres s. Only thing ive even seen it miss that wasnt out of range was a nights cavalry. All that and its only 13 fp
Remember that an Optimized Dueling build isn't always the same as an Optimized Invasion build too! In my experience, if you want to burst some fools down in Invasions by lobbing sorceries from a long distance, the damage boost from Lusat's is super worth it. My Glass Cannon build catches people off guard pretty frequently, since they aren't used to someone at my level pumping all the way to 80 Int and setting up Hyper mode.
I'd much prefer Azur for PvP even slight speed increases can be the difference between landing and missing, especially with the p2p difference in position between the two clients. Damage doesn't matter so much in PvP, health bars aren't inflated enough for it to make a difference.
Whilst most of this is true on paper, there is one thing that seems to be overlooked. I didnt really care about it before, so i basically skipped ovedr the Lusat's part when i first watched this video. Yes, if you do PVE, efficiency means stable dps and therefore probably higher damage per fp flask, so far so good. In PVP however, we do have one imporant facter which was overlooked. Motion value and the damage calculation. It is even more true after the patch that changed the PVP damage formula (note: the video was created much earlier than this patch was released) A higher initial damage / Attack Power of the spell means we have a far higher damage output in pvp. IIRC it's the same as it was in DS3, where if your Defense was 8x higher than the AR of the attacker, damage was reduced by 90% before negations (or something like that). You showed how it worked in your damage calc video. This means that the base damage increase from Lusats holds a higher value in PVP than it does in PVE, becaus it is more likely to break through the defenses of your target. 2 Staves of Loss + Night Shard and Comet will be the best bet in PVE. Also, the carian phalanx is the weakest spell in PVP, damage wise (good for controll and maybe interrupts, depends on the utility wanted) whereas the Greatblade Phalanx will have the highest pure damage in PVP (easier to dodge though). Due to the addition of SB on Lusats, the impact of buffs will be stronger as well, at least if the DS3 formula is still correct. Let's use the Glintstone Pebble as an example. If fextra is correct, it has a 1.52 SB multiplier. Lusats adds 430 SB at 99 int. If you add 15% of the cracked tear and 8% from the graven mass talisman, and we factor it into the SB, we receive a 430 SB. If we translate it to an AP value, we receive a 430 * 1.52 = 653.6 AP (power before reduction). At lvl 150 (99 int, 60 vigor) we have a magic defense of 202. According to the DS3 formula, I am in the second bracket, atk
Carian Regal Scepter here on a level 180 40STR/70INT build (pure PvE). Its classy and the Cold Melee build I have going on makes it very effective since they buffed the Dark Moon's cast time.
After watching this video I am now planning to use Carian Regal Staff as my main weapon for my sorcery build and only Lusat Glintstone Staff when using "nuke" sorceries such as Comet Azur. Thanks for the insight it prevented me from making a costly mistake.
As a max level I have around 40 different builds. My favorite build for large boss fights is gravity staff in the offhand, and prince of death in the right hand. I use ancient death rancor to stagger, and overwhelm bosses, and dark gravity meteor barrage thing to destroy large bosses.
Long story short: Keep in mind that this guy's info is focused on single staff usage, and not dual-wielding staves. Some information was supplemented by personal experience. I did this because, if nothing else, I know my attention span won't be existent long enough to re-consult the video. I know (some of) my own flaws. :p At 10-30 int: Demi-Human Queen Staff Astrologer's Staff (req: 16 int) Glintstone Staff Meteorite Staff (req: 18 int) At 40-65 int: Academy Glintstone Staff Carian Glintblade Staff Carian Glintstone Staff Azur's Glintstone Staff Astrologer's Staff Glinstone Staff At 70 Int: Carian Regal Scepter Carian Glintblade Staff Carian Glintstone Staff Azur's Glintstone Staff Crystal Staff Academy Glintstone Staff At 80 int: Carian Regal Sceptre Crystal Staff Azur's Glintstone Staff Academy Glintstone Staff Arcane > 60: Albinauric Staff (Int + Fth) > 144: Prince of Death Staff Glass Cannon/One-shot: Lusat's Crystal Staff Off-hand Staves for Dual-wielding: Staff of Loss Meteorite Staff Carian Glintblade Staff Carian Glintstone Staff Other staffs were listed as earlier alternatives, in case the others weren't collected. The basic Glintstone and Astrologer staves aren't special, but they're still decent. The Crystal Staff can be an alternative to the Carian Regal Scepter if it is, for whatever reason, unobtainable. There is also a reason why Lusat's Crystal Staff is only listed as use for being a glass cannon. The FP costs outweigh it's usefulness in nearly every scenario, but if you intend to obliterate Mohg out of existence with a single laser beam, then that's the one really good utility for Lusat's Crystal Staff. More recent testing with the Meteorite Staff has me saying it is pretty decent for low-mid intelligence builds. It also doesn't require upgrading (since it cannot be upgraded at all). Basically, the Meteorite Staff is optimal until around Altus Plateau - by that point, your intelligence stat makes other staves significantly better, with the application of some upgrades at a blacksmith. If you prefer extreme simplicity over optimization, then here's a short staff progression system: 10-28 int: Glintstone Staff Astrologer's Staff (if start as Astrologer) Better staves for 10-28 int: Demi-Human Queen Staff Meteorite Staff (requires 18+ int) 28+ int: Academy Glintstone Staff Yes, anywhere at 28 int or above, the Academy Glintstone Staff is a good lazy option. It performs very well and has no penalties. However, it also doesn't benefit from any special boosts.
@@Journey1968 Updated my comment because your reply gave me a notification, and I've developed more experience and knowledge over the past few months.
Great video, tons of information! On the one hand, im glad that i naturally gravitated toward the best staff(Carian Regal) but im kinda bummed that there are so many staves and once you reach a certain point, theyre kinda all invalidated
Honestly the extra 50% FP consumption from the Lusat staff and 20% from the Azur staff is meaningless if you use the Physick Flask with the Hidden Cerulean Tear. It's only 15 seconds and with even faster cast speeds you'll probably get between 10 to 12 seconds of infinite FP. Doesn't sound like it's alot but in 10 to 12 seconds you can smash out alot of damage. Most mobs weak and strong will crumble in only a few seconds before FP use is any concern. I find running around with dual staves using the Carian Glintblade staff in my off hand and the Carian Scepter in my main hand is best for general use of playing the game since you get the benefit of boosed Glintstone sorceries which I use a good number of and the high sorcery scaling of the Carian Scepter. For boss fights I'll switch Lusat in my main hand for the extra damage and FP consumption is not a concern since I use my Physick Flask for 10 to 12 seconds of Infinite FP blast them with Comet Azur or Meteorite of Astel and almost no boss survives the first 5 to 8 seconds depending how much HP they have and how stationary or mobile they are. I don't PvP at all so I honestly cannot comment on the usage of efficiency how I run my build with dual staves. All I know is for the game itself PvE I have found the best way to dual staff the game.
@@NielsGx I don't generally use Coment Azur or Meteorite of Astel on normal mobs. I use the Cannon of Haima for that so I obliterate one group of enemies and the next and so on and so forth. I also have over 280 FP and 8 Cerulean Flasks and only 6 Crimson Flasks. Running out of FP is never a concern on my mind.
I don't really care about PvP, but I know you also need to take into account how many casts it takes to kill an enemy. There were many moments in the game where lusat's was enough to 1 shot an enemy where my other staves would take 2 shots. At that point, lusat's is better. For bosses, I just take lusat's on my first try and see how much of the boss' health I can take out with my full fp. If it looks like I will need more fp, I'll take a different one on the next try.
Kinda gunning for the rare scenarios in complete disregard for everything else. Sure some enemies could be one-shot when they would otherwise be two-shot, but does that really justify the 50% decrease in effectiveness everywhere else? If you want to kill a boss as quickly as possible, by all means use it. It is still the only time you can expect it to come in handy.
@@trutyatces8699 not a rare scenario in my experience. Besides, it's not hard to see which is gonna be more effective just by, you know, casting a spell at the enemy. There's plenty of smithing stones as well. You really don't lose anything by having multiple staves upgraded and in your inventory.
But here's the thing tho. Just take whatever staff has the highest number for your stats and then put other staffs in your off hand for their passive bonus to specific schools of sorcery, as that bonus will still aplly from your offhand.
Warlock build for example, uses the Alberich set + thorn staff + frenzy seal + antspur rapier and Serpent shield. This is because my theme for this class is to use status effect magic. So i use blood, frenzy, ice, poison and rot magic. Doesn't make sense to use Lusat staff with extra cost, if I'm already boosting blood magic. Prince of death staff is for hexer build, and the list goes on.
This is greatly made me rethink how I'm using my character. I've just been using the meteorite staff because it basically tells me my scaling is highest. But I do know that the meteorite staff works best for gravity spells and my character of course uses glintstone spells. Looks like I'll have to be doing some research
My favorite caster build so far has been the prince of death 80/80 build I did for a while in NG+2, unfortunately there are no fitting weapons or infusions that fully take advantage of this stat spread other than sword of night and flame, but I could sneak in some golden order seal incantations if I really felt like it.
Heeeey validating my Carian Regal choice here. Awesome. On top of the FP efficiency, buffing Ranni's Dark Moon is also pretty nice, though I don't think I'd argue that it's the major selling point.
If you don't have the bells, yes. There's bells for both to give to the twin maiden to get to +9/+24. I'd totally recommend getting them as you go to give more options.
At higher levels for pve with 80/80 int/faith you wanna go with princes+lucat for boss openers with comet azure+ wonder is physic. That’ll one shot most bosses up to Ng+2 if timed well. Outside of boses use princes+meteor staff and just spam rock sling which will stagger most enemies in 2 hits
I was about to say this lol. At 80 faith and 80 int, it's actually stronger than lusats. It's technically the strongest staff In the game but it requires a LOT of work to do that.
@@HavocSmasher it’s totally worth it. I’m working through NG+2 right now with an 80/80 int/faith build. Blasts through most bosses without issue. Mogh was one shotted.
Thing about going Prince of Death is that then you just use the Golden Order Seal and also use Incantations to buff your damage and defenses if you want to still remain Sorcery only for damage output, or if you're not a weirdo you just throw in a couple incantations to mix up your options. You can use the talismans that decrease your damage absorption basically without any real cost thanks to the defense buffs as well to stack even more damage. When your full Stars of Ruin while standing in the ground sigil with all the buffs hit for like 3k+, it feels nice. Or when your Adula's hits + procs frost for like 6-7k+ it all feels worth the stat investment and setup time. Though you can also just buff up and pebble/night comet 12million times for silly damage efficiency still. It's quite fun to pull out pebble and kill invaders in 3-5 hits with pebbles and they can't do shit cause you can JUST. KEEP. CASTING. all day. I did my 208 hour first playthrough pure sorcery, but man it feels great to mix it up, kind of wish I had gone Int+Faith to begin with cause you just get so many fun options.
Something else worth noting; if you want to run a build wi the 50 INT or below (and there are plenty of reasons to do this), then the Demi-Human Queen’s staff is the best staff for sorceries.
@@fracturedsolace145 I use both. Lusats in my left to get the bonus damage (don't ask me why, some spells do more damage off the left hand, like the moonblade one) and then azurs on the right hand for the casting speed damage. I will then switch from azurs sometimes to get a damage boost and to slow down my attacks. Mixing up attack speeds and changing damage etc. There's a lot you can do offhanding staffs, just keep changing them. You can even have them all equipped at once and just cycle between them. I am trying to learn to swap from the menu though like the pro's do. Keeps your weight down.
So Lusat is still the best for NG+. The extra FP cast is really easy to negate. I primarily use it as boss kill where flask conservation is less of a priority. Personally my favorite is Azure as I love speed more them power, but when things get ruff I am pulling out Lusat.
Thanks for the analysis but I think an important consideration also is FP per kill. For example, I can run around with a +10 Carian Regal firing glinstone icecrag while wearing a snow witch hat and one shot many enemies for 12fp vs a +10 Lusat's 11fp pebble sometimes requiring two casts. Just an example but the point is, casting twice to do the job vs casting once was the real fp saver. In some cases that actually means Lusat's could save FP.
The information provided here still tend to suggest the Regal staff being the best general staff considering the general mage progression. Keep in mind you can much more easily +10 a somber weapon than +25 a normal one. Especially considering the lack of good magic talismans at this point and you are running some sore seal anyway.
You ain't using it early game even if it's easy to upgrade, it needs 60 int to wield. Meteorite staff is best early game, you get like a 220 scaling staff just for wandering into caelid swamp, it's stupid.
So much this. I took my Astro Wing to +10 for the “Oh Crap” defense factor (charged strong attack has crazy tracking and high damage at 80+ intelligence) I’m sitting on a capped Somber weapon worth of materials, trying to decide with this video.
@@bobroberts2581 Another Weapon would be the sword sorcerers drop. It's actually really, really good. Lazuli Glintstone Sword or something. The Ash of War is significany stronger than the bootleg version you can put on normal weapons. Lots of stagger and posture damage. Pain was farming for it, had more luck with the Halo Scythe, and the Halo Scythe's Ash of War can do 180s.
An easy option is to just get the bells to buy the stones. I still think leveling to 10(or 9) feels better than 25 (or 24). Btw its 12 each step for the regular, 2 then 4 then 6.
Great videos, I'd love to see some for early game scaling maybe from 6+ to 16+ and 20-60faith/int to see when. Think there is a lot of potential for hybrid builds that at the most capped at lvl 100. For example when you should stop using meteorite staff. Also a lot of people have been missing that you can stack the dmg bonus for casting weapons like stacking two carian glinstone staffs and only using sword spells. Let you completely ingore your dex/str stats for great min/maxing.
Meteorite staff should outdo any staff that hasn't been upgraded pass at least 15+ regular/6+ somber, probably even higher just due to it's base + S scaling. There's literally no reason to use any other staff before then (unless you're under 18 int of course)
I really like the cast speed one! I’ve always used it because I feel like it makes my spells so much safer and I mainly use a flu stone kris for damage and the speed I can summon swords and put up my ring is worth the extra cost. It’s just a extra bonus knowing it’s actually kind of a dps boost at 80
38 mind with a full buffed cerulean flask grants a full bar. If you have a mix of melee and ranged magic, most PvP players dont instantly engage when you ahve soace. Especially if you are agressive in playstyle. Ive found its easier to heal and refresh the more agrressive you fight. As they usually need to heal themselves. Giving you a chance to recoup. Glintstone, meteorite, and loss staffs will all be offhanded. Lusat at mainhand. Swap to each spell round youre going into. I found that putting spells in order of their type, can give you a set of spells to put consistent pressure on your enemy helps consoderably. Youd be surpised the cast synergy you can work out with enough practice. I should mention that the Primal Glinstone Talisman gives an effective 112% increase to FP cost versus the 150% Lusats gives you on its own. You lose some health, but if youre a pure mage, you can actually drop 60 Vigor, 38 Mind, 16 endurance, and at least 80 intelligence -up to 99- for 200RL builds. Theres actually a LOT of people, especially now with the difficult DLC, at 200RL for PvP.
I haven’t even got halfway through, at max level the prince of death staff sorcery scaling is 448 and out damages the lusats staff with less fp usage as well. I’ll edit my comment if I’m wrong.
I already simplified it: ua-cam.com/video/WTxOJdn3uhk/v-deo.html
I was gonna say, your audio sounds almost like you fed your script to a voice synthesizer.
Your good man. No need to explain or correct yourself. Let the comments sort themselves. Just make a new video, make up for it with more and better content. It is youtube, show don't tell. Oh, and stop reading the comments. You know you have been told this before.
Definitely still read the comments. You need feedback. It’s how you grow
I do love a good errata
Edit: The Staff of Amana.
in dark souls 2 best staff was a chime
Gotta say, love the blue flame sword that could cast sorceries. So much better than the candlestick in Dark Souls 3

What sorceries count as invisibility sorceries?

This is so informative. I love the summarised recommendations at the end too. I was running Carian Glintstone Staff at 60 int maining adula's moonblade on bosses. But now that I have 80 int, I'll try the Carian Regal Sceptre!
What I found most interesting is how good the starting Astrologer's Staff was. I expected it to be much lower on the list even fully upgraded.
im at lvl 100 still rocking the claymore lol my SO sold her moonvein & has gone back to uchigatana
you are always better off using the meteorite staff up until you have access to +7 smithing stones unfortunately though
When you defeat the pee pee poo poo boss from shitbum castle only to get the shitfuck staff that has lower scaling than your starting weapon
Alchoholic Ruby
@@EN4myX lol, I can't believe the show got picked up by Viz Media. I'm cautiously optimistic.
It works very well against rivers of blood spammers. They finally get close enough to use the weeb stick. Only to get smacked by the sceptre.
@monhi64 I said unique version... it behaves differently for CRS
TBF, you weren't intended to get the Meteorite staff early. Same with the rocks.
Well, you also aren't supposed to get that staff until you explore caelid naturally, which is at a much higher level than fresh out of limgrave.
@@ZeroRed78 If they didn't want you to visit it first, they wouldn't have put it right NEXT TO THE FUCKING FIRST ZONE/AREA! Something NO OTHER Dark Souls game does I might add.

Great content, definitely illustrated the big picture in a easy to understand format. Will be recommending this to anyone unsure on what staff to go with.
Using night comet with carian regal with staff of loss in your off hand is just insane. 1500~ per shot.
Thx again!
Double staff of loss makes night comet deal more damage compared to staff of loss and lusat's as a little extra.
@@t0uchme343 on my 2nd playthrough I'm gonna try it thx!
Ah, be careful, they may still dodge because of input reading.
I wish that the various buff staffs had more buff and their schools of magic were better so that all the staffs would have their niche

As well as an *actual* hybrid scaling staff that doesn't suck demi-human balls.
Ghostflame deals frostbite so if you can use any of it it's worth the consideration.
Hm, this is news to me, dark magic used to scale on faith and int?
@@BygoneT And you needed the appropiate staff too... Which is something that doesnt happen here.
This is factually wrong in elden ring, but is true for dark spells in ds3.
Thank you for the great work, that was very well presented, really appreciate all the time you put into putting that together.
Just wanted to say, in case you’re a hybrid build (str/dex/quality-
Ish)and you stop int at 50 since majority of AoW/somber weapons softcap there, the best staves are carian glintblade, at 263, you only lose 2 points compared to astrologier and 6 to academy, but you get a boost to all carian techniques that have floating swords to them, on the other hand, carian glintstone boost carian slicer, adula moonblade, piercer and greatsword, sitting at 257 scaling at 50 int, so it’s a good alternative if you’re looking to use those powerful sorceries!
It will probably be more useful for players that are choosing to use front loading staff to see how the staffs scale when not fully upgraded.
I usually don't comment on videos but I want to thank you for taking the time to analyze, compile and presenting this data to us.

Worth it?
Awesome analysis, I've been running regal and was curious if it was actually as good as it seemed, you just saved me a LOT of albinauric farming.
Omg Thank you so much! This is exactly what i was looking for. Clear and concise!!
Love this guy.
This is the video you are looking for
Great analysis! For a while I was wondering whether Lusat's was worth it or not and your video saved me the effort of doing my own tests. I guess its best to go Regal for regular use and Azur or Carian staves for PVP as of the current patch.
I think this video is especially valuable for those who stick to the 125 meta level.
RIP chaincasting and briars of sin.
your videos are such an incredible resource, and your arguments are convincing and cover common sense considerations as well as niches

Here’s to hoping they throw some golden order-looking staff in the DLC. The scaling curve on golden order seal (excluding weapons buffs) seems really forgiving for a pvp int/faith build. Would love to see a 50/50 int faith staff that can get a little closer to backloaded int staves.

It is even more true after the patch that changed the PVP damage formula (note: the video was created much earlier than this patch was released)
A higher initial damage / Attack Power of the spell means we have a far higher damage output in pvp.
This research is the lord's work

If you prefer extreme simplicity over optimization, then here's a short staff progression system:
10-28 int:
Glintstone Staff
Astrologer's Staff (if start as Astrologer)
Better staves for 10-28 int:
Demi-Human Queen Staff
Meteorite Staff (requires 18+ int)
28+ int:
Academy Glintstone Staff
Yes, anywhere at 28 int or above, the Academy Glintstone Staff is a good lazy option. It performs very well and has no penalties. However, it also doesn't benefit from any special boosts.
Excellent breakdown….. that’s what I’ve been looking for this entire time.

Good job.
Great video, tons of information!
On the one hand, im glad that i naturally gravitated toward the best staff(Carian Regal) but im kinda bummed that there are so many staves and once you reach a certain point, theyre kinda all invalidated
This feels like 2011 dark souls 1 video and I understand everything is being said workout special editing.
I ended up off handing the glintblade staff with moonveil until I was able to cast the moon spells then I switched to carian regal scepter.
All I know is for the game itself PvE I have found the best way to dual staff the game.
best case scenario you can obliterate a group of ennemy, but what about the next one ? lmao
I need this analyze applied to 20 into, 30 into, and 40 int for low rl runs.
I only watched the summary but you have my sub. Great info!
wow amazing video, the best on staff for sure, thanks !
Great job man. Thank you for such good explanation
Bro this is sooo helpful my brain was melting in trying to figure out staff stats and which ones are best on my own
Great work, you saved me a lot of math and working stats out thx
I have like 150 houres total in souls games and i have never played a mage build this is really cool
No shade, this reminds me how I made a spreadsheet to do fusion math for smt... good stuff!
This is great information, this video but for Seals would be very welcome too.
The next video is going to be a sacred seal breakdown!

Very informative and comprehensive, we need a guy like you to get more views/subscribers to help get this information out
Great informative video man!
This is quality content. No fluff.
Its worth to mention that its easier to upgrade your sombrer staff to at least +9 than getting the enough stones to upgrade your carrian to +25
If you don't have the bells, yes.
Should have added. I’m lvl 300
I just feel most comfortabel with azurs Glintstone Staff. It makes the game less Frustraiting in my opinion.
Luscat or bust homie.
You gotta put some music in the back and transitions man. The video is so informative I forgot I'm here for a games.
this earned my sub, awesome video
So Lusat is still the best for NG+. The extra FP cast is really easy to negate. I primarily use it as boss kill where flask conservation is less of a priority. Personally my favorite is Azure as I love speed more them power, but when things get ruff I am pulling out Lusat.
So basically as a fan of Glintblade sorceries just keep using Glintblade staff, got it.
@@a_turtle2074 You can get the meteorite staff at the very beginning of the game without ever attacking once, same with rock sling. Pretty convenient
@@FakeHeroFang the comparison is based on the assumption that you can use all of them. For early game nothing beats the meteorite staff.
One thing to consider is how easy it is to upgrade somber staves vs standard staves. Somber stones are waaaaay easier to find.
So much this. I took my Astro Wing to +10 for the “Oh Crap” defense factor (charged strong attack has crazy tracking and high damage at 80+ intelligence)
I’m sitting on a capped Somber weapon worth of materials, trying to decide with this video.
Azur's staff on the off-hand + radagon's icon = amazing
@@vhalhi ty
I really like the cast speed one! I’ve always used it because I feel like it makes my spells so much safer and I mainly use a flu stone kris for damage and the speed I can summon swords and put up my ring is worth the extra cost. It’s just a extra bonus knowing it’s actually kind of a dps boost at 80
Great video man, amazing
Good stuff man can't wait to see you grow! I subbed for sure lol
Great video! The only constructive feedback I have is that a better mic would go a long way
38 mind with a full buffed cerulean flask grants a full bar.
Subbed because you care.
I haven’t even got halfway through, at max level the prince of death staff sorcery scaling is 448 and out damages the lusats staff with less fp usage as well. I’ll edit my comment if I’m wrong.
You’re correct. I use the Prince of Death’s staff due to having 99 Faith/Int.
The luset guy is goin to switch to his int greatswords not chug 🤣🤣
I just got Lusats and upgraded it, super.
