    Great news about La Parva in Chile. As a young skier (many moons ago) a spend a lot of winters skiing in those mountains. I truly love it. La Parva is located at only 50 minutes from Santiago at about 2700 mts of altitude. In contrast, Valle Nevado, it is a bit higher at 3000 mts. Being a native chilean skier, now in the States, I appreciate this interesting news indeed.
    Cheers from Philly. Stay strong !!

      It's a lot like a Enforcer 110 Free, but lighter and softer. Shapes are quite similar, IMO. I actually think Rustler 11 is a much better comparison, but that ski feels a little different to me. Less freestyle influence in its shape. Leans more towards the big mountain/FWT side of the spectrum for skis like this.

    So sick! I would love to hear and see a comparison of the Sender Free 110, Nordica Unleashed 114, and Revolt 114 cause they seem to be making waves with freeride-twin tip(ish) / powder category.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +5

      Hey Josh! I'd have to say the Sender Free compares more closely to the Unleashed 108 rather than the 114, but the concept remain similar. Longer rocker in the Sender, so it has more of a surfy/smeary attitude. Unleashed uses a lot of camber, which can actually make it a bit more locked in at times, perhaps most noticeable in powder. Revolt 114 kind of goes the opposite direction. We've found it to be very surfy, although I personally want to spend more time on it. Bob's skied it more than I (Jeff) have.

    I'm coming from a 2018 Candide 2.0 188(when they were softer) and have really enjoyed the ski and how playful and versatile it has been. Now after progressing my skiing (advanced-expert) I find that I am frequently skiing close to the edge of what the ski can handle and am looking for a bit more ski. I ski out in Colorado and am frequently in the trees and bumps, but a bit all over the mountain and end up on my fair share of groomers when my buddies are sick of the bumps. I don't ski switch a ton but do like having the ability to pop 180s. As of right now I was considering the qst 106s 189 or possibly this rossignol sender free 110, atris? I would love to hear what you guys think as well as other skis you may consider. I'm 6'4" 170lbs ish.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +4

      Ohhhhh Sender Free might be perfect for you! Softer flex than both the QST and the Atris, so if you prefer that feel, it's likely the way to go among those 3 skis.

      I'm in the exact same situation and don't know if I should choose qst 106s 189cm or rossignol sender free 110s 184/191cm. I'm the same height and weight as you, so would love to hear what you ended up going with.

    • @lincolndepagnier360
      @lincolndepagnier360 6 місяців тому

      @@mathiashald1168 @mathiashald1168 I ended up getting a qst106 in a 189. I did not demo the atris or the sender so I cannot comment on either of those. So far I really like the QSTs, they are definitely stiffer than my candidates but in no way feel like too much ski. I ended up mounting mine at +1.5 and am happy there. You can definitely still ski them backwards but with the arc being as long as it is it's a little easier with some speed. have gotten them in 2 powder days and can confidently say these will float through most anything with a little speed even at +1.5. If you are going to ski super deep pow making tight turns in the trees I could see going wider but other than that I can't really envision a scenario in which I would. At my height and weight I find them really stable in crud at speed, something my candides really lacked, where I feel confident going through the snow and not bouncing around it. They are definitely heavier than the candides which is most noticeable in the air and similarly feel less balanced being further back. Overall I'm really happy with them and would buy them again. I found the senders interesting but at their price tag and weight found it hard to commit to. The atris definitely looks fun but I got a far better deal on the QSTs. The atris also seems to have a bit of a rounder flex ( the tail on the QSTs is quite a bit stiffer than the shovel)

    Trying to decide between m free 108 in size 182 or sender free 110 size 184! This would be my daily driver for the coming season in Revelstoke. I’ve had great experience with my 185 m free 99’s but want more float. I loved how loose and easy to manoeuvre the m free 99’s we’re and would like to retain some of that manoeuvrability in a wider package that can also hold a good edge and handle mixed conditions. I’m an ex racer who is looking for a versatile tool to progress my freeride/freestyle abilities through the winter. Tree skiing, cliffs, occasional park, first tracks in deep snow, whatever does the best job of balancing all those requirements is gonna be what I go with.
    Whichever ski I choose will end up with a cast pivot 15 on it so that I can also do some touring off the resort. Please let me know what sounds like it would be a better fit. Thanks!

      I have always really liked the energy and snow feel of the M-Free 108. If you have a similar experience on the 99, the 108 will be right in your wheelhouse. Nothing wrong with the Sender 110--that ski is sweet, but the Hybrid Core of the Dynastar skis has always struck me as being very poppy and smooth. I'm 6/2 225 and have skied the 182 in that ski with great success--they do not ski short, even with the profile.

    Loving these videos chaps. Not sure that its a fair comparison but would love to know which is more versatile between the Sender Free 110 and the Bent 110? What other skis does this Free 110 compare to most? Thanks :)

    • @jmanswat2457
      @jmanswat2457 Рік тому +4

      Probably the sender 110 would be more versatile. The construction appears to be a more hard charging and carving capable ski Than the bent, which seems to be a softer lighter powder focused ski. But I'll leave the final word with skiessentials.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +4

      I would agree that in general, the Sender is going to be more versatile with its slightly stiffer flex. The soft flex pattern of the Bent 110 puts it more in a playful-specific category, so to speak. Some limitations to how hard you can ski it, while Sender supports higher speeds.

      If you're down to those two, you're going to be stoked either way. The biggest difference that I have found is that the Dynastar has a bit more pop and energy when it comes to a carved turn on groomers while the Rossignol isn't quite as dynamic.

    • @SkiEssentials

      Appreciate the feedback, Serban! We're lucky to live in Stowe, but I hear ya. What Stowe does offer is consistent pitch (parts of the mountain are actually very steep) over a 2000 vertical foot run. Front Four trails are famously pretty steep, and there's plenty of freeride terrain in there, it's just not the big cliffs with open landings you see in western or European terrain. While I agree with you, and wish we could logistically test in different terrain more easily, I would also make the argument that Stowe, VT is one of the best places on the planet to test skis!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  4 місяці тому

      The Sender feels like it has better energy and rebound to it than the Mana, mainly due to the carbon alloy matrix that Rossignol employs. The Mana is more smeary and purposeful while the Rossignol will give you back a lot of the energy that you put in.

    Hey Ski Essentials, I am wanting to start up my freeride journey and am tossing and turning between the sender 110 and the bent 110. Love your videos, thanks.

    • @SkiEssentials

      I think that the Bent 110 makes a bit more sense for you. The Rossignol felt more heavy-duty while the Bent is more playful and manageable. If you like the energy from the serpo, you'll find some similar personality in the Bent as well. Have fun!

The rec mount point is fairly close to center, I believe the recommend mount point line is -3.4cm in the 184cm, can you confirm that? There is a line in front of the rec line and behind, curious where you guys skied it at and if it felt like you had enough tip up front to drive the ski, and if you felt any tip dive at all in the soft snow? Thanks in advance!

      Hey Dusty! Mostly just skied it on the recommended line. It's so good in that spot. Can confirm, yes, about 3.5 cm back from true center. I can understand wanting to back to the directional line, but I actually don't think many people will go forward to the progressive line. It skis great as is, perfectly balanced, IMO. Powder switch landings would be the only reason I'd consider going forward.

    Could this be something to add to my quiver as a soft snow / powder ski as an addition to Enforcer 88? I am pretty confident skier but not in powder. I guess I would want something that is easy to flick around, is playful and can hold its own in the powder (easy to turn) as well as on groomers. If not, feel free to recommend something else, QST 106 for example?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +1

      Yes, this would be an excellent choice. QST 106 would be too if you wanted a little more edge to edge quickness and improved firm snow performance, but the Sender is a blast and I think arguably a better powder-specific ski.

      They definitely fall into the same category, but the Sender Free uses longer rocker, which gives it a surfier mentality. Unleashed is a playful ski too, but more in a bouncy, responsive way, and less in a slarvy/smeary way. It's an interesting comparison. Both a lot of fun, just a difference in their effective edge, release-ability, etc.

      M-Free feels the loosest and surfiest. Unleashed is the most responsive and most precise, also with a nice energetic flex. Sender Free 110 is right in between those skis, although I would say leans more towards the M-Free side of the spectrum. QST Blank is kind of like a stiffer Sender Free, with some added early taper to bring back some quickness the stiffness would otherwise negate. Hustle 11 kind of feels like a different animal to me. Not sure why, maybe the slightly lower splay rocker. If I had to, however, I'd say the Hustle skis more like a flatter M-Free than anything else. I think Sender Free, Unleashed, and QST Blank all hit a nice combination of playfulness and stability, they just do it in a different way.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +1

      Justis is way stiffer and more powerful. Sender is more nimble in most scenarios, although the Justis being so much narrower gives it a quicker edge to edge feel on firmer snow and at higher edge angles. I would say if you could mash together the Atris and Anima, then make that a little softer, you'd get the Sender Free.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +4

      I'll try! I'd say the 110 Free is 17% better than the 106 in deep powder while the 106 Ti is 22% better at on-trail and carving activities, especially in softer snow. They make different shaped turns, though, with the Sender making rounder turns across the fall line and the 106 as more of a straight shooter.

    I’m curious what the difference in skiing style/feel between this ski and the Atris would be? They seem like skis for pretty similar purposes, and in fairly similar widths, but you mentioned the Atris has a more flexible front and stiffer tail, whereas this Sender has a stronger midsection but flexible in the tips and tails. What kinds of skiing styles do these differences favor, or how does that affect how it feels to ski?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Рік тому +3

      Totally skis designed for similar purposes, but they go about it with a different feel. Sender Free feels much softer to me, particularly in the tips and tails. That gives it a more playful, agile, or maybe more buttery feel. Atris definitely has more stiffness in the tail, and I think it feels more precise as well. Sender is likely going to be better for someone with more of a playful skiing style and attitude. Looking for natural hits to do spins, buttering off natural features, etc. On the other hand, I think it would be a reasonable argument that the Atris is more well-rounded as it will accommodate higher speeds, at least for more skiers.

    Awesome review! I was wondering if u could help me decide wether I buy these since a friend is selling them with little use for 600 USD (without bindings). The thing is I've never skied with wider powder skis, the ones I currently have are the Elan 76C which I understand aren't at all like these skis. If u could help me understand if its a good decision to make the leap right on to the sender frees. Thank u!

      @SkiEssentials  11 місяців тому

      It's a big leap, but that's a good price! You won't find a better 2024 powder ski for less money. You will not need a wider ski, that's for sure. It would likely be more prudent to split the difference and try to find something in the ~102 range like Fischer Ranger 102 or Armada Declivity 102, just to make the transition a bit easier, but it's tough to pass up that deal.

    Hii, I know this is a difficult question...I ski the bents 100 & 120 rn but want an all day quiver thats more stable and can kinda do it all, without loosing tooo much freestyle performance. Would you rather go with the blackops 98 or the sender 110? Or nore precise: are the better park/groomer performances of the blackops 98 worth the worse soft snow/powder applications? I'd probably ski 50/50 groomer, off piste/powder with them. For only park and deep powder I've got the two bents, now I just need something where you can ski some fresh snow in the morning and rip groomers and chop in the afternoon. Maybe could even sell the 120 when going for the sender 110...

    Crazy question, if comparing this ski to the k2 mindbender 108.. which one is better 😅

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  7 місяців тому +1

      I don't think the comparison is crazy at all. Certainly quantitative terms like "better" are harder to define, but by looking at the skis, a few differences jump out to me. First, the metal of the K2 is longer in both tips and tails, spreading out to full-width in the shovels, so there's just more meat to the Mindbender. Rossignol's use of Carbon Alloy Matrix throughout does add stiffness and power, just not the dampness of the metal. Tail shape is pretty different, too, with the Sender being a twin tip basically while the K2 is considerably more directional in nature. Creative skiers will likely gravitate to the Sender while those that are more business-like and direct with their skiing will prefer the K2.

      S3 skiers should check out the Salomon QST line--the 98, specifically, offers a great blend of short-turning capabilities and deep snow acumen. The 106 is great, but obviously wider and less resort-oriented. DPS Pagoda 100 RP also fits this bill.

      We haven't experienced more or less durability issues with the QST line--they seem to be about average. Nordica Unleashed, especially if you're comparing 98's to 98's and 108's to 106, is more cambered and less tapered, giving the Unleashed a better on-trail carving performance with more dampness. They're not quite as floaty or playful as a result, so that's the other side of the coin. @@zilvainas

      Sender is more soft-snow specific for not quite as aggressive skiers. When things get firm, cruddy, bumpy, or manky, I'd rather be on the Enforcer, but for most deeper snow zones, the Sender is a really fun-loving floater. It's just not quite as high-performance or stable as the Enforcer.
