The "Life-Saving Video Vault" EMS Students Use
To Pass School & NREMT On Easy Mode.
(Without Complex, Boring Lectures & Without Struggling Through Textbooks)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shock is also known as hypoperfusion. This concept is one of the most frequently misunderstood concepts in EMS and EMT school.
My goal in turning on the camera today is to clear up the different types of shock for every EMT student once and for all.
Help me with my mission by hitting the like button, thank you in advance.
This video also serves as a great review for those entering AEMT or Paramedic school so they can refresh their basic life support EMT skills.
They're four main types of shock, the key to remember is one of them (I'll be discussing in-depth in the video) has three "sub-types".
    Cardiogenic Shock for EMT
    Obstructive Shock for EMT
    Distributive Shock for EMT
Septic Shock, Anaphylactic Shock, Neurogenic Shock for for EMT
    Hypovolemic Shock for EMT
Watch this video at least twice and take notes if you need to until you understand this concept cold.
I will give you simple tricks and tips to remember these types of shocks for the rest of your life not just to pass the exams.
If you are at the stage where you are preparing for EMT school, getting ready for NREMT review or NREMT exams, or about to start your first EMT job, this video will serve you well.
    Be great,
    Evan, The Paramedic Coach®

ICU RN here. Had a patient a while back who had received a liver transplant (NASH) who had a problem with the biliary duct anastomosis and was on CRRT due to kidney failure as well. I was still a new ICU RN at the time but he had gotten septic and was in 4 presser shock. Not only was he one 4 pressors, but we had put him on Methylene Blue which I’d never know was used in medicine. It was kinda interesting though in that it is used to to PREVENT vasodilation instead of working like a pressor. He didn’t make it. Even with all of these, his BP was still 70’s/30’s. It was sad though. Family still kept him as a FULL and had to run a code that went nowhere until he died.

Taking my National in a couple days and brushing up on a couple topics that had me mixed up. Now I can check types of shock off the list! I made easy notes and flashcards from your explanation. No excessive jargon like the books, no back and forth like the chapters, just clean cut. Thank you so much for taking the time to offer this to people. When I'm ready to go paramedic, you'll be on my list of resources 👍 🚑

Sooo say someone was involved in a MVC and both of their lower extremities are deformed but there’s only small amounts of bleeding what type of shock could they be in if they had signs and symptoms of shock? Would it still be hypovolemic shock? I saw a question similar to this on my exam so just curious. Also I will be purchasing your program Monday because I failed my NREMT yesterday because of Trauma 😩 I will be retaking it as soon as possible but at least I know what to expect now

Really depends. If they’re in hypovolemic shock they could be unconscious supine. If they have some sort of septic or carcinogenic shock, they could be sitting awake and oriented but in a lot of pain. Anaphylactic shock vs obstructive vs everything looks very different. Important if you suspect shock, start shock management
