Hey Friend thanks that was one good video there’s so much I want to say I don’t know where to begin but a guys got to start somewhere so here it goes : So I was hoping to see a lot of you using plyers to take bolts out but I was disappointed so could you next time use less wrench’s 😂(just kidding) And if you know you’re going to be on camera maybe eat a little less beans for supper the night before 😂(just kidding)Seriously I had my eyes glued to my iPhone the whole 43:25 minutes the re-engineering of the wheel on the mower was good I thought you may have left it a little bit too long but no I was wrong it trailed quite nicely and stayed aligned so good job and the muffler, I was so happy to see that you didn’t butcher the hood I have seen the on the after market 8N updraft exhaust to many times it breaks my heart! But good job very nice to see you do the proper maintenance grease and oil etc and the bird’s eye view when you were mowing was pretty cool keep that old iron running and God bless you and your family 🇨🇦😀

Well, pliers do have their place, and that place is in my hand. Hammer, pliers, a knucklebuster wrench or two, a couple of screwdrivers, vise grips, maybe a brass drift, some penetrating and 3in1 oil, and a flashlight. Oh, and some mechanic's wire and black tape. There's your tool kit. Good video too.
I have both similar Ford tractors. A 1953 Golden Jubilee completely refurbished and a 4600 Ford diesel. I am watching with great interest. Whimsical Wind Farm - CT.
I actually have a jubilee I plan on doing a video on in the future
Hey great video , I have had several of these old fords on my orchards they worked awesome easy to work on. I have to say I had lots of trouble with the ford 3000 charging system then I converted it to a alternator and got a tachometer kit and didn't have any charging issues after . But the repairs never did end.
That is some great info I might convert it over!! I’m having a good bit of trouble cranking it, it will crank but it takes a min and it has to have a fully charged battery, I had new seals, washers…ect installed in the injector, but I seems like it’s getting air in it but not sure? Is it easy to convert to an alternator?

The top plug on the bush hog gear box is for filling. The bottom hole is the fill level plug. Take both out and fill until it runs out the bottom plug. Also, your shroud is missing on your radiator fan. It will cool much better if you install one.

Get yourself a pto cover for the Ford 3000 and bush hog serious injury if not fitted when using any pto equipment with out any guards, Great show especially about the maintenance on the diesel ford 3000.

Yes I did think about building some sort of ROPS on the tractor and I still mite but I got a bunch of other projects that I gotta get out of the way first.
I would be more concerned about the unprotected PTO shaft that is spinning rapidly

Just a heads up, put on some of the Fords, you can flip the exhaust manifold over and bring the exhaust out through the hole in the hood

That tail wheel on the bush hog needs to swivel freely back and forth. But the bolt you put in the top as a retainer pin was too big, and it was binding the wheel from swiveling freely. Putting grease in that swivel shaft will do no good as long as it is bound at the top. Also don't forget to put grease in the hub of the tail wheel to keep the bearing lubricated. If it is like mine, it is a caged roller bearing and needs grease added regularly.

On those brush mower gear boxes give her a 75/25% gear oil and wheel bearing grease. Lots of times that lower seal will fail and you don't realize it until it's to late. Heck ran one for many years with just grease and a little shot of oil to thin her down a bit. Oil would run out of the bottom about as fast as you poured it in and trying to fix it would have wrecked the gearbox.

Say I'm from Arkansas and a feller at work one day asked me for some waar plaars. I asked him to say again what he needed. He indignantly said louder, waar plaars. Finally I translated what he said, wire pliers. This was in Washington state. Haven't seen you open up this injector pump yet like you did with the skid steer. I like the smell of gear lube, and it makes me feel good to put it in. Eric O on South Main Auto can't stand the smell of it either. Pollack. Obrechta

if you drained down to the fill level plug, the gear box must have over full and you still had half the capacity left. seems there should be another drain plug at the bottom of the gear housing.
Yea that’s what I thought but its not it’s kinda a weird design
I would think that tractor should have an independent PTO or 2 stage clutch so the PTO doesn't stop every time you clutch.
Advice: get a driveline clutch for that PTO shaft. That mower will push you right into a pond or the side of a barn .

@@marshalllanier360If it’s like my 3000, it’s called a transmission pto and there isn’t a 2-stage clutch. Clutch out, pto and wheels turn. Clutch in, both stop. The later models offered an 8-speed (hi-lo with 4x2 forward and 2 reverse) that had an independent (live) pto. There was a 5-speed with a 2-stage clutch, or the 4-speed with transmission pto, which is what mine is and this looks like.
Definitely need the overspin clutch between the pto and the cutter.

Uh I forgot if your going to run over trees might want to install a brush guard. Saves wear and tear on the sheet metal...

When you set up the tractor with alternator you set it up with a one wire and run the 1 wire to the hot post the battery directly it does away with the voltage regulator and all that just telling me you want a 1 more alternator with AV valve pulley on it for like a 73 up shall we pick up Chevy pick up and you'll have the one wire set up

I do it with a generator and get me a 12 ohh and a 12 ohh night or off like a 79 Chevy and a 12 most people do and put on there like a 100 amp alternator that way you're not hurting even when you're under alone

Did you ever fix the fuel injector pump leak? I have the same issue on my 3000.
Yes I rebuilt the pump it’s pretty simple just lots of parts

Some advice, any time you shut off your tractor, lower the implement to the ground. It takes the stress off of the hydraulic system. Leaving things in the raised position will many times result in leaks in the system at some point.

Those old three cylinder Perkins engines will run forever. I had much rather have a vertical exhaust especially with a diesel. The underneath is rough when mowing or using a three point implement. Just watch for those low hanging limbs...

Instead of welding that brace to the exhaust pipe just use a u-bolt.
It would have been quicker and easier.

I thought this comment was referring to another video my bad. But I’m curious in what part of the video am I not using a normal socket? If your talking about when I removed the rusty bolt from the valve cover then the reason why I used the gator grip socket is be cause the bolt was rounded off and a “normal” socket wouldn’t budge it. The gator grip socket works great in situations like that.. btw I have tons of sockets
