Like always love the content and a big supporter. One thing I notice when watching is sometimes on both the backhand and forehand your swing path comes across quickly when I think swinging through it straight through and letting those hands come forward before finishing the stroke could do you some good. All of us tennis heads know how good the highs can be and how bad the lows get, keep at it Simon we’re all rooting for ya!

    Dear Simon,
You are very good at returning in doubles and I think this can help you in singles as well, as you aren't as far back as in singles. Sometimes I imagine I do a doubles return game, visualize only having the cross court part and just put the ball there, take it early and block it back there. I have the feeling that this concept of simplicity is just better as in singles, there are so many options that sometimes can overwhelm me. So, I just keep it simple and that often works for me. I am not saying you should do the exact same thing, but feeding off your experiences in doubles might be a great thing for you!

Great video Simon, very unlucky not to break his serve a few more times.
Definitely think you should incorporate more net play into your overall game (serve and volley/chip and charge) I think your volleys and general net play are your best attributes.
Your opponent seemed like a player that loves being in a rhythm and I definitely think if you put him under more pressure at the net, you would have gotten over the line, as the majority of points you came to the net you won. Definitely would have been worth a try at some of the break points.
    Keep up the good work💪💪

Great play, Simon! You had a lot of chances against a very good opponent. I feel like you're putting yourself under too much pressure. If you played more confidently and relaxed, I think you had a good chance of winning this match. Easier said than done, though :D

    Hello Simon,
love that footage where you analyse your own game. Looking at your double faults I think your body collapses to early. Maybe you should keep the left arm longer in the top position so your body is more upright if you hit the ball.
I am a big fan! Keep on the hard work!

Simon, honestly super well done, regardless of outcome. This could have done either way.
I also think that with improving a couple of these many variables you mentioned, such as your serve will make this a transitional point for you. Both these players were insanely hard to go against.
Thank you for the awesome video.

Hey Simon! This was a great match that you played, throughout the match, you might think that you weren’t doing enough on the neutral points, but I see that you were giving him pressure by mixing up with some slices and wait for your inside out forehand to his backhand which he hits long after, you just need to stay in the point and wait for the opportunity to come by, I see that you continued to target his weakness which is great! And I see that he kept making some unforced errors which you just had to stay in the point and wait for his mistake or an opportunity to put more pace on the ball/or come to the net when he tries a drop shot. He looks like a baseline puncher, so you could come to the net more often perhaps, thanks for great content! Continue to support you! Fight on Simon!

How u want to hit has to connect with ur stroke. So saying u dont have the confidence u need to do so in practice. U need to start pounding these balls in practice (consiously) . I had had huge problems serving but whats working for me now is to really understand its to get the ball in play first and not wanting to hit aces every serve. So getting the ball in play with enough pressure to stay in control (kick). I do kinda see a bit the same in ur serve as in, its a one puncher. Which gives a lot of pressure. But fundamental tech and playing matches dont go together.

  • @ericliu2708

Your hand went ahead of your hips sometimes when you try to hit hard. The hip should still always initiate the swing and then snap your hand. Also you tilt your shoulder/upper body in many of your forehand to gain a little bit of momentum. It is not a problem doing it like in a return. But sometimes you might be unconsciously doing it when you were feeling pressure deep behind baseline. It is not a good habit in my opinion. You are certainly on the right path. Hitting more heavy balls with weight!

I am not a pro, if it is ok to leave a observation is that I think there is something about how you get to the ball, perhaps there is something you can do to use more hips? I think the way how you run and how you move is locking you up, your hip can't contract as much as possible so your steps are not as big as it can be.

    • @Bird1502
      @Bird1502 7 місяців тому

Firstly, it is so easy for us arm chair critics to critique your game but if you want my 5 cents, here are my thoughts...
I think the biggest gain you can make is to work on your serve and tweak it so you can add a bit more pace but more importantly, improve accuracy but also to reduce the double faults which is all mental.
Work on your plus one forehand after the serve to control the point right behind your first serve.
Definitely come in as much as you realistically can as you are very good at the net and its a great way to mix up play and control the points.
In the rallies, I would look to dominate more with the forehand. Try to take the ball earlier and use your footwork and bodyto create more easy power ala Fed and just trust you'll nake them.
I'm sure you know all of thislol
Very close match overall and a lack of confidence and mayne being slightly passive was the difference.
A strong off season will ensure 2024 is a break out year👍

You seem pretty negative on your game in the commentary. You did like a few shots here and there. Even though you aren't happy with your game, you were in this match. You are right in that being a little more aggressive on some shots may have changed the outcome. My point is that even though you didn't play your best, you still had chances.

  • @deathsquad383

I think you’re being too cerebral while playing. You mentioned in this vid that you felt you weren’t flowing through the shots properly and that you feel pressure in these tournaments. Remember The Last Samurai when he’s training sword combat? “Too much mind, less mind” is key.
