  • The IMI Desert Eagle is a semi-automatic handgun notable for chambering the largest centerfire cartridge of any magazine fed, self-loading pistol. It has a unique design with a triangular barrel and large muzzle. Magnum Research Inc. (MRI) designed and developed the Desert Eagle. The design was refined and the actual pistols were manufactured by Israel Military Industries until 1995, when MRI shifted the manufacturing contract to Saco Defense in Saco, Maine. In 1998, MRI moved manufacturing back to IMI, which later reorganized under the name Israel Weapon Industries. Since 2009, the Desert Eagle Pistol has been produced in the United States at MRI's Pillager, MN facility. Kahr Arms acquired Magnum Research in the middle of 2010. The Desert Eagle has been featured in roughly 500 motion pictures and TV films, along with several video games (especially the Resident Evil series, Counter-Strike series, Grand Theft Auto series, Tomb Raider series, Far Cry series, Left 4 Dead series, and Call of Duty series), making it well known in popular culture.

Gas operated, rotating bolt. Pretty common to find in EVERY rifle more or less.

For such a large pistol developed to shoot hot magnum rounds, I have seen some failures that might show it is not so tough. Pistons can break after just 500 rounds, and by that time there is noticeable wear on the spring plate. On another video here on YT a chap shows the wear on the slide near the piston chamber, methinks some components could have been designed better.

Smith & Wesson tried to take the cake by making the 500 revolver, but trust me Not only as a gunsmith but as a collector, no other Pistol comes close. The design level is a whole different universe, S&W had the chance to make something remarkable, but instead they just made a BIGGER revolver, nothing else.

I came because I saw this on a ROBLOX zombie game called “Project Lazarus”. It went through the zombie head so I wondered how it could do that and it looks like a pistol.
