You're moving really well Neil!! Another solid session to back up those 400s the other week...looking good for your next half to be closer to 90 than 95min 💪 It's funny isn't it, those predictable cycles we have in our running where we have a lull for a while due to injury, lack of motivation, time, etc...and we decide to run for enjoyment, then in time we start having some promising training again, often followed by the setting of competitive goals again, and the cycle repeats 😂 Well it does for me anyway😄
I've been missing for a while. It's good to see you're still running so well. With my genetics I'll probably be around well and truly into my 90s. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you're going when your my current age 74. I expect you to be flying. 💪💪👍👍😃😃
"Running for enjoyment" is admirable and seems rarer amongst people who I perceive to be fast! I seem to always outperform on Yassos vs. marathon. But I have always just been bad at the marathon. Though I after ~8 (some serious, some less) or so marathons my body has started to condition itself and cramp less, so I'm starting to get closer to my predicted times now. But still a ~10 min gap. Interestingly my Yassos line up with other race predictors, but my marathon performance does not. I feel constrained by my legs (cramp) and not my heart in the marathon. So that's probably why.
Hi Collin, yeah it has made a huge difference to my running, just enjoying each run no matter the pace etc. What things have you been doing to try to alleviate the cramping issue? Is it an electrolyte things or something else? Hope you can sort it out. 👍
@@runwithwoody I tried all the standard recs (hydration, nutrition/salt tabs, etc.) and nothing was a quick fix. I do think "conditioning" (basically more attempts, more volume, more experience) helped. I learned the hard way that my body cramps non-stop after 32km if I pushed too hard. Eventually I'll have to "unlearn" that because I think with more conditioning my bottleneck will shift from the legs to the lungs hopefully (particularly as I approach the race prediction times). Right now well executed marathons for me feel "easy" because I'm cruising at Z2 for the first 30K. I've come to peace with it though, and the recent improvements in conditioning are a happy surprise and bonus :)

Exactly, mate, take the pressure off hitting times and just enjoy. Works a treat. 👍

It's great to have you back, Chris. I'm not sure I will match your feats. 👍
Very impressive Neil, you're doing really well fella, great session!
Hi Alan, just really enjoying it at the moment - no pressure for paces/races etc.👍
I’m still impressed with the times
Thanks mate. Just having a bit of fun with running at the moment. Good times. 👍
Looks like you’re getting your speed back!
Thanks Bill. I think it has coincided with just enjoying running more. Putting no pressure on what times to hit or goal races etc. 👍

Well, in case I ever wanted to go for it I’m 62 so age groups above 60 and stay the same and I think that’s three hours and 50 minutes
Hey Todd, yeah I'm 2 years away from that age group and the 3.50 does look tempting - if BAA don't change it again over the next couple of years. 👍
