  • Hello UA-camrs! British Rowing Trials are fast approaching, as I mentioned in the previous episode these trials consist of a 2000m row on the rowing machine and a 5000m time trial on the water. Today I talk a little bit about 2000m row preparation for getting the best out of yourself on the rowing machine.
    I really think that weights can help you with your overall speed, not just in the 2000m row but in almost all distances. Some it will help more than others but then there are the side benefits of becoming more robust as you become stronger. The extra robustness is a huge benefit in itself and I would do weights for that alone. When you add on the benefits of getting stronger and more powerful then I would say that doing weights for rowing is a no brainer.
    DJ Dan Jones and I do one of my coach's, Colin Williamson, favourite 2k row workouts in this episode and it was a hard one. I'd recommend doing this one but as I say in this episode there is not really one workout that is the best. I think the best 2 things to help your 2k is to become fitter and to get used to being in the pain cave. Pretty simple! I hope you enjoy this episode!

    Hey there, I like your videos thanks for making them. Only discovered your channel and indoor rowing this last week and had no idea there was a huge community with competitions etc. very cool! Id like to take it seriously and pace things out etc. I've used the rowing machine at gyms for HIT training (Usually about 10 mins with 1 min rest every min) before my workouts for the last 7 years and never really took much note of times or paced myself at all. Not trying to do anything official atm but wanted to know if i was breaking any rules by having fans on me or biting down on leather?

    Very impressive 😳 what damper setting do you use / compete with? Does 10 necessarily indicate the hardest option?

    • @CameronBuchan
      @CameronBuchan  Рік тому

      The difficulty is based on how hard you push. The harder you push the harder the exercise. I've made a few videos talking about the resistance on a rowing machine. Definitely give them a look 👍

    Just curious, given the times you just pulled, what are you looking for as your 2k time (interested in adjusting times for myself). In other words, was your first split at, above, or below your target 2k split, and if it was above/below, by how much?

      @CameronBuchan  Рік тому +1

      I've made videos talking about the best shoe. I still think it's a flat sole but for comfort and giving my toes a rest I switched shoes that happen to have a bigger sole. Toe box is much wider. Realistically though I don't think there's much difference

    Once rowers hit a certain form after some time at an elite level, having them do a 2k for trials becomes a bit redundant doesn't it? Their times aren't going to be appreciably increasing, if even at all. Once you see where they consistently score why would you need to do it anymore?
