The video you used when you tell people to hire an asbestos abatement contractor is just some dude with NO PPE scraping ceiling off into a container. Definitively not safe.
In the 70s, in Lubbock Texas, the popcorn ceilng texture was applied to perfectly tape and floated drywall. To me that was the standard. Not sure about elsewhere. Imperfections will still visible on popcorn textured ceilings.
I’m in an old condo/apartment from 1960s. I drilled up into my popcorn ceiling few years ago to install a curtain rod. About 1 inch up into it. Some white stuff fell onto me while I was drilling. So exposure of some sort. Should I be concerned ?
1978 is when they stopped building with asbestos. But there’s a chance the original home owners used old materials if they ever had to fix anything. I bought a mobile home that’s from the 80’s but know the prior owners jerry rigged it together with whatever they had so there might be a room with bad tiles or contaminated drywall
hi Dr, can you explain why N95 mask isn't capable of blocking asbestos? i thought N95 filter is capable of blocking particles above 0.3 micron and since asbestos fibres range anywhere from 0.7 micron to 90 microns...
The seal on your face isn’t airtight, though the mask might be able to walk fibers. They can still get in through the gap, which is why it’s important to wear a respirator and to be clean shaven.
This is one of those things everybody can downplay while they're young, but when they're 50 and they can't breathe they realize the truth.

You should be fine, it’s just the people who get exposed to it often.

Were all screwed ! 😳😢😂 HS Class of 1975
This apt i live in was built in 1972. It really bothers me.
How likely or unlikely would a 1989 Mobil home double wide trailer have asbestos in the popcorn ceiling ?
