Laughter: Love, Joy, and Language: Sophie Scott at TEDxImperialCollege

Laughter, an expression of amusement and joy, is found in many mammals and associated with tickling, play and conversation at distinct stages in our lives. Neurally, our brains are primed to echo laughter, and this response is stronger in people with keener ears for laughter. This makes laughter a vital social emotion which we use skillfully to make and maintain social bonds.
In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
