I also think his never ending crush on Scott until he met his later-in-story boyfriend/future husband I think is the entire reason why he tends to choose to have gex (I am not risking anything with UA-cam moderation) with people that share the same name or similar appearance as Scott (I.e. Other Scott, Todd in Scott costume). Also he relies on gex a lot throughout the story to distract himself from problems which is an analysis for another day.

in the comics, wallace was always framed as one of scott's way out of his league exes, with lots of parallels to how lisa miller is presented too - it's also mentioned that the way these two met was "pretty gay, yeah". also, the other guy wallace brings home on the scene where he's drunk is called Other Scott in the comics! so really, it seems wallace is still hung up on scotts death, and his coping mechanism is sleeping with guys who resemble scott.
Yeah, Wallace is a huge parallel to Lisa. The biggest hint in the comics is that Wallace and Lisa's backstory is almost exactly the same. They meet Scott at School and then show up at his house where his brother lets him in. Then they start hanging out and being best friends. We already know that Scott's memory is unreliable so it's weird how Wallace and Lisa have the same "How I met Scott" backstory, but Scott thinks of them as the same because they're both his best friend at different points.
He does imply he had a gay hook up with Wallace once which led to them living together, and Wallace a few times displays that he's attracted to Scott. Wallace is totally Scott's Roxy lol

it's no coincidence that he tried to make todd fill the void scott left unfilled i think. and its definitely intentional that hes only lovey to todd while he has the scott costume on...

I did get the sense SPTO felt almost a bit like a fanfic, but i haven't gotten my hands on the comics yet, so its hard for me to say. But i think i got that sense from it, besides of how they really just took the characters and did their own thing. Like something fans would do with their favourite characters🙃
Fun fact: in a deleted scene from the movie, Wallace is giving Scott a blanket and earmuffs (i think?) while explaining he had to stay somewhere else because of a guy that was over (im sure you know the scene) and tells him “im thinking of you. Not during-“ then the phone rings :)

Another cool thing to add is that Todd has ALWAYS intentionally had parallels to Scott and Wallace has always been implied to have at some point had feelings for Scott
I like to read it as Wallace secretly missing Scott, and wishing he went with him rather than some random chick. He was genuinely shocked that Scott died and probably missed him a lot but couldn’t admit it.
I think Wallace always had this little phantasy of having sex with Scott but knowing that he is straight and he couldn't bend his straightness he never puss it or tried to force him (because first of all Wallace knows about consent). So he saw the opportunity of a accomplish his phantasy through the movie adaptation with Todd.
But that is just a theory... A GAY THEORY!

It was not out of character for Todd to have an affair with Wallace though. He repeatedly cheats on Envy with Lynette (the band's drummer) and other girls. While we all love to hate Envy, you can't deny that Todd is on the same level as Envy or Scott.
I'm gonna bet you most people here who feel bad for Todd are likely women, and likely a fujoshi. Simply because someone is gay doesn't equal good, I will also bet that these people wouldn't be rooting for Todd if the person he was obsessing over was a girl.
Sorry guys but Todd's creepy and definitely a gross person. Not unlike every character in the series, because that's kind of the point. Everyone is a dirtbag and most often times selfish (yes, including Knives-- she literally stalks Scott and picks a fight with Ramona out of unbridled rage).
None of this is to say you can't like a Scott Pilgrim character, just don't act like they are flawless, or deserve no consequence.
