    I am truly amazed at the size and abundance of your fruit trees, here in Australia where I live it's a constant all in fight against marauding white cockatoos and parrots who can decimate a fruit tree in an hour so you have to be very fastidious with netting trees before the marauding thieves take the lot. I certainly don't mind sharing but the parrots have other ideas. Your apple tree is nothing short of spectacular. I was also blown away by that mushroom, hope it tasted great xx

      Thank you! The trees are very old, and actually really need pruning! We do struggle with insect damage but this year it was actually better than normal

    Love Chicken of the woods! You can also cut them right off the log and leave the part closest to the trunk ( the hard part) as it's not as digestible and will help with a new growth next year.

    You and that scythe!! Love that. :) I just found your channel a few weeks ago but you're quickly becoming one of my favorite youtubers. I really love the philosophical content you put in that makes me think a lot more than most channels, coupled with your gorgeous cinematography it's really a joy to watch. I actually really relate to your points about reassessing what you wanted out of life and your personality (as a mid-30s person who used to be in fashion too myself.) It's scary to find yourself changing but it's good to just embrace it! Thank you again for sharing with us.

    Hi there, thank you so much for creating these videos! I admire your way of living, your frame of mind and the way you show it! I only found you recently and I'm very glad I did because it has filled me with admiration and aspiration. I see it as art and that's rare these days. Thanks so much for your channel!

    I loved your video. You are very resourceful and creative. I was glad that you shared with us that your family had this farm for years. You also mentioned that you live with your aunt. Would that be on the same property as the farm?
    I admire your skills for preserving and cooking too.

    The corners of the field are often left in place, unharvested, as a gift to the creatures of the land for use if needed. In some cultures, harvesting these areas can bring misfortune to the land and the people of the land.

      Thanks! I love that idea, I don’t think that’s why it’s been left though 😆 I think they couldn’t get the huge machinery under the tree! But there are still lots of other bits around the edges to hopefully feed wildlife 😀

      @@Nelferch In the Bible God commanded the Jews to leave the corners of their field unharvested so the poor could harvest it for food--and they were not to bother them when tehy went to the fields to do so.

    By the way, if you want to keep the mushroom for later use you can dry them, can see you have a dehydrator (one of your other videos). I don’t I just cut them up thread them onto cotton and hang them in the kitchen. Takes longer of course but the result is the same.

    • @Nelferch
      @Nelferch  3 місяці тому +2

      Yes I did try with ink caps but they still melted into ink! I think the deliquescing process was faster than the drying process! 😆

    Really enjoy your videos. I love picking mushrooms. On one of your previous videos you picked, but don’t believe you ate brown buns, otherwise called porcini. They are delicious and easy to identify as they have a shiny brown cap exactly like a well cooked bread bun and the underside is sponge form, with no gills. They also smell amazing. Just mentioning it as they should be in season again around now.

    I just deleted my last comment after thinking about it and worrying that it might have been misunderstood... incase you didnt read it I was saying that i wish different aspects of my life felt more unified, but recently for me one of lifes great lessons has been that we are not just the activities, hobbies etc. we do. I deleted it because i didnt want that to sound like i was preaching or assuming you dont know that already because im sure you do and i dont think that was your point! (I understand it was more about ideals and values. I only hoped to add my experience to the conversation. for a bit more context ....
    A few years ago I got chronic fatigue syndrone. so many of the things i thought made up my identity dispersed because I could barely do, express, create anything. Before I was very active, creative and did alot of the lovely things you do in your videos. with that experience, and more recently trying to build a career while I recover, I've had to let go of alot of the ideal based behaviors and habits I once did, that felt very integral to my identity. sometimes I find myself doing things that dont feel completely aligned because of fears around finacial instability and health. Its so sad the way money can dictate our lives. sometimes watching your videos has been difficult because you remind me so much of me and the life I long for. but at the same time in the past week your videos have also given me such inspiration and redirection. like a calling home. ❤

      I am so sorry for your struggles! Wishing you wellness in 2025 ✨ What you said reminds me that we shouldn't be too attached to any particular thing, even parts of our identity. We should try to be happy with our deep self regardless of what we are able to produce or spend time on. Of course that is not easy to do, but it's something I work on everyday. To be content with myself and life just for being a person in the beautiful world and not have too many expectations. But at the same time I hope we can all do what brings us joy! Thank you for your lovely message ❤️

      @@Nelferchyes it's a very difficult notion because like you touched on, society is very good at making us feel valued by our outward motions, often overlooking what lies deep within each person at there being level. we learn to think simply being is not enough. I sense through your videos that you try always to live in balance between doing and being, your doings always rooted in being. It really comes through in your work here. Ive been really reminded of that for my own channel and art. ❤
