8:08 I’m sorry but I seriously disagree with this one. The atmosphere for heimdall is FREAKING AWESOME. The boss himself and his cockiness BRILLIANT AND REALLY FREAKING SATISFYING, it just feels so dam good to beat in his brains like old kratos. Easily #2 for me behind hrist and mist.
First Thor fight was almost perfect for where it was in the game. Epic and intimidating, but not TOO epic. His second fight was a massive letdown spectacle-wise. His actual moveset and the story were good, but we deserved to be fighting atop the walls of Asgard, maybe breaking them down as we clashed, ending in another frozen Thunderbolt splitting the wall, leaving chunks frozen in place on the lightning spikes. Instead we just had a little contained scuffle outside his dad's house. So many cool things could have been done, maybe have part of the fight happen before Jormungandr gets time-booped, have us fight Thor with him, fight along his back... SOMETHING
I havent played the game. But nidhog made an big impression on me. Its such an cool foe. I dont care that theres not buildup. Its an cool lizard which uses cool magic with the tears
It would be cool to see you rank the Berserker King Hrolf and Gna in the ranking since they're probably the only memorable optional bosses but I understand if you don't want to go through the effort in beating them. I did and even got the Platinum because the gameplay was fun enough for me personally to fight all the optional bosses. If I were to rank the bosses it'd probably be similar to your list, only Hrolf and Gna would probably be top 5 worthy. They don't have much spectacle but gameplay wise they have many attacks to memorize and those are the type of bosses I enjoy the most in a game as long as they're fair. Oh and one last thing because this comment has gone on pretty long. I think the two valkries are easily one of my favorite duo fights in any game and like you mentioned with Elden Ring they are by far better than any gank boss in that game.
Ngl Heimdall should be way higher up. That entire fight was unlike anything I have ever seen in any God of war game. He is like Hermes, baldur combined. The atmosphere, the combat, the dialogue, the different phases.... everything about it was perfect for me. For me, only the first Thor fight and the Odin fights were better than Heimdall.
@@magicat7356 cool, sounds good. I don't think you would have much interest in Sonic Frontiers but the bosses are one of the best parts of the game so it's worth at least looking at in any spare time if you're curious.
It seems as though most people enjoy Greyla, and I can't understand why. For me it seems like a discount Shadow of the colossus fight, except without everything that made that game good( the colossi being levels themselves, puzzles that need to be done to damage them, etc...)
Just wanted to say I think heimdall should be higher on the list. I also think heimdall struggles to fight kratos is because kratos empties his mind while he’s fighting. He’s not thinking while fighting just acting
If you're going to dumb down everything to describe it in the most basic, boring sounding way possible, I'd like to point out that you can do that with every boss, and it'll sound just as uninteresting. I could do the same to whatever your favourite boss is.
@@megashark1013 well his top 3 are Gryla, heimdall and thor first fight. I feel those three are easier to dumb down cus they're already dumbed down by the game mechanics
Your favourite fights are Thor 1 (fat man knocks you around with his hammer and does thunder claps for 15 minutes), Gryla (angry woman stomps around with cauldron for 5 minutes) and Heimdall (skinny prick dodges your hits before you steamroll him). See what I’m getting at? For the record, I think all 3 of these bosses are great but you can’t just call one boss bad because you dumbed it down
Kind of a random comment here but I think the kidney stone soul eater joke would've overall been funnier if you stopped before the "because" part. The joke was pretty clear and didn't really need an explanation, and I think doing so made it less funny.
The only proper disagreement I have with this list is Nidhogg. I struggled against this boss, and not really in a fun way. The realm shift tail attacks felt inconsistent to dodge. But the worst part is the camera. Every-time the boss moves to a new tree, my camera freaks out and struggles to keep the lock on. I’d drop the boss a tier
Interactive cutscene? Bull-fuckin-shit. You have plenty of tool, moves, and resources to take on, dodge, parry, and attack Thor early game. I recently did a no hit challenge and it was thrilling, especially on the harder difficulties. Combat only feels sluggish because YOU are making it that way. mechanically it's a great fight. interactive cutscene was wild, wayyyyyy out there take.
You can r1, r2, throw, fist r1, kick frost awaken, and if you bought it one new skill tree move, plus dodge and parry. That's really it not exactly overflowing
@@Valor662 Yea and that simplicity works. Parry, light attack, heavy, charge swing, and whatever skills u have purchased before hand. it's a fantastic boss
I finished my first playthrough on hard and I am now in my second playthrough on the hardest difficulty. One thing I really like is the very limited loot and that every armor set has unique perks and caters to different play styles. My favourite fight in the game is Gna which feels almost like a fighting game character with the shear amount of mix ups she throws at you. If we are limiting it to main story bosses then it would either be Garm or Thor 2.

Had the same thing with a new game. You gotta load the most recent save, then quit, kratos wont be in the menu screen and you can start a new game

I like fighting soul esters/ancients. My biggest issue with sutr is that you don't fight him. Je just spawns reused bosses and that felt lazy
