When I mention that grants.gov isn't funding for individuals, I'm referring to the fact that the primary recipients of grants through grants.gov are typically organizations, institutions, or government entities rather than individual people. While there may be a tab labeled "Individual" on the website, it likely refers to specific grant opportunities that individuals may be eligible for, such as scholarships or fellowships, rather than general funding for personal use. It's essential to review the details of each opportunity carefully to understand the eligibility criteria and the type of projects or initiatives the grant supports.
Hey Sheila, that sounds like an intriguing project and something we coach on in the Global Grant Writers Collective. What strategies have you tried so far?

Great question. Modify your search in grants.gov to include 'closed' awards so you can see if it was published in years past. Past giving is the best indication of future giving. The fed dept website should also have info on past winners which will reveal how much was awarded.

Suzanne- Support for DUNS numbers were discontinued about a year ago. All you need now is the Unique Entity Identifier from SAM.gov I'm also interested in your user experience re: EBiz POC and reached out to you on LinkedIn.
As for obtaining a DUNS number in 2023, the EBiz Poc program was indeed discontinued in 2021. Alternatively, you may contact Dun & Bradstreet customer service for assistance with the application process.

Hi, I am having a lot of difficulty understanding this process. ( Learning disability ). Do you have information on how to do something step by step? I need funding to redo my condo. Thank u
Thank you for reaching out. We understand that navigating the grant application process can be overwhelming, especially with learning disabilities. We're here to help break it down step by step for you. Firstly, let's start by identifying the specific funding options available for condo renovations in your area. Once we have that information, we can guide you through the application process, ensuring each step is clear and manageable. Feel free to reach out to us directly, and we'll do our best to assist you through this process. You're not alone, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
There are all kinds of grants out there, though grant funding for individuals (i.e. flight school) aren't as common. You'd probably want to start with financial aid / scholarships through your school first if you're looking for individual funding. Though you can search on the grants.gov site using your keywords to see what comes up as a next step.
Hi there! Thanks for watching our video and sharing your thoughts. A TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) is indeed required for various official purposes, including applying for grants. It's essentially a unique identifier assigned to individuals or entities for tax purposes in the United States. For individuals, it's usually a Social Security Number (SSN), while for organizations, it can be an Employer Identification Number (EIN).
Thank you for this video! I'm putting together a Funding Strategy and some good government matches are due in mid-June. You say that there's a good chance they'll become available again within 6-9 months. Would you recommend including these on the funding strategy (if so, what's the maximum of these that you'd include in FS) and what's the best way to keep an eye on them to see if they do reoccur?
Would we be able to contact government funders like we would with private funders - to gauge the competitiveness of a grant? I'm slightly confused on the password advice...if I'm using my client's login, I or they should keep reusing the same password when asked to reset? Should they already have a password management account system or should I set one up?
Most federal grants are on a one year cycle, but one year prep for federal grants will go faster than you might think! Not to say mid-June can't be pulled off, but the project and client would have to be super dialed. Include them in your Funding Strategy for sure, but think through when they should be pursued. It is totally reasonable to say those pursuits happen next year. Best way to keep an eye on them would be to get on that entity's newsletter list and to contact the funder to start building a relationship with a regional program officer. They will have that insight.
Ok- What are the steps for the AOR to give me access to writing and submitting grants with a workspace? Do you have to do this with each grant?! I've seen where the AOR has to log in as BizPOC and assign a role. I have a UEI and all the other info. I don't understand why this is so hard.
Unfortunately yes the AOR has to give you access with each grant. We wish changing the password wasn't so frequent and hard to do! Here's some support documentation: www.grants.gov/help/html/help/Applicants/Management/CreateAndManageRoles.htm And while grants.gov can be brutal to use, their customer support line is actually pretty awesome. So if you need to, don't hesitate to call them. Sorry for the struggle! Last tip we would offer is writing out the steps you take (or the AOR takes rather) to add you as the writer, including screenshots and putting those into an SOP. Then you don't have to re-remember those painful steps!
I need help! I have a UEI, I'm doing mbest to apply for this grant but it keep saying: " To apply for a grant opportunity, your Organization must authorize you to Create Workspace or add you to an existing Workspace." I fill out everything yet they can not find me! AM I doing this wrong????
I definitely recommend reaching out to their customer support. They are actually pretty helpful and will be able to fill you in more on specifics for that grant!
Hi there! We recommend that you check out the grants.gov website for more info on this. You can also visit this page to learn more about DUNS numbers: www.grants.gov/applicants/organization-registration/step-1-obtain-duns-number.html
The grants you apply for are dependent on the project that you are trying to get funded. Do you have a specific project in mind? Or a certain nonprofit that you are trying to help?

Hey Olushola. Thanks for reaching out, but we're not a funder, i.e. we don't provide grants. You can search the grants.gov site for education grants as a start. Best of luck.

Your first statement is confusing.... what? Do not use grants.gov for data base? So another entity holds grants info for grants.gov? Mmmm ... sorry but confusing
Sorry for the confusion. We do not recommend using grants.gov as a grant database to find new grants you were not otherwise aware of. We prefer to use Instrumentl and other strategies we teach within the Global Grant Writers Collective because of how non-user friendly grants.gov can be. It is where we go to retrieve information once we know what grant we are looking for. You are welcome to use grants.gov however feels best for you! Hope that helps clarify.
Catching up on some comments here. Can you specify what kind of contact you're looking for? Are you looking to learn how to write grants? We can help you with that.
You can always hire a grant writing consultant to work with your organization. They can help you build out your grant writing strategy which may include a grants.gov workspace if that's the strategy for your organization. Are you interested in hiring?

Here's some support documentation: www.grants.gov/help/html/help/Applicants/Management/CreateAndManageRoles.htm And while grants.gov can be brutal to use, their customer support line is actually pretty awesome. So if you need to, don't hesitate to call them. Sorry for the struggle! Last tip we would offer is writing out the steps you take (or the AOR takes rather) to add you as the writer, including screenshots and putting those into an SOP. Then you don't have to re-remember those painful steps!
Very helpful. Than you!
Glad it was helpful!
How do you create a workspace? Not find one. I have watched so many videos but no one shows how to create a workspace @learngrantwriting

What’s the quickest grant I can get
The grants you apply for are dependent on the project that you are trying to get funded. Do you have a specific project in mind? Or a certain nonprofit that you are trying to help?
I couldn't get pass the darn password part
It can be frustrating! We recommend that you connect with grants.gov directly for technical assistance.
Can I submit a single Narrative to different funders?
Hey there! We don't recommend submitting the same narrative to different founders as each narrative should be specific to each funder. Here's our free course that can give you more information ⤵www.learngrantwriting.org/free-grant-writing-course/
That page work only to U.S. Charity organisation?
Grants.gov is a database of federal grant-making agencies in the U.S. A grant application may require that your organization is based in the U.S., depending on the grant you're applying for.
My name is Olushola Aransiola from Nigeria.Thank so much for the info. Please I need grant or fully funded scholarship for theology (MTh) at Biola University.
Hey Olushola. Thanks for reaching out, but we're not a funder, i.e. we don't provide grants. You can search the grants.gov site for education grants as a start. Best of luck.

I want to add a company to my grants.gov so they can have acess to worksheetz n do some work i find difficulties doing so..the apply button is greyed out pls help
Hi! You can apply on this page: www.grants.gov/applicants/registration/add-profile.html
Do you have a contact?
Catching up on some comments here. Can you specify what kind of contact you're looking for? Are you looking to learn how to write grants? We can help you with that.
How can I contact you to discuss getting grant.gov for my organization?
You can always hire a grant writing consultant to work with your organization. They can help you build out your grant writing strategy which may include a grants.gov workspace if that's the strategy for your organization. Are you interested in hiring?
