    I hope you save the front door. It has two pillar shapes matching the front porch, so I'm guessing it's original. Please try to save as much of the charming doors, door knobs wood floors and kitchen built ins that you can!!! It makes the house unique and not so cookie-cutter. I would tear out at least one of the sheds in the back, maybe both.

    Save the built-ins, ditch the sheds! That kitchen had so much to offer, buyers will find it so much more desirable to buy a craftsman that still looks like one inside. Love the videos, can't wait to see what it turns out to be.

    Built-ins are part of what makes a Craftsman a Craftsman. There's nice beadboard on the walls that you can save. Interesting property.

    Those look like very nice hardwood floors. You may want to keep some of those built in cabinets in the kitchen people really like that.

    Nice Craftsman bungalow! Consider earthy tones for paint, and verticle 3 over 1 divided light windows in a beige or tan rather than white color. Save or reuse as much of the beadboard as possible too. It will really help tie the aesthetic together.

    This Craftsman is beautiful and I hope the kitchen space does not lose all the built-ins, as that is part of the charm. I think it would be nice to keep the built in that is missing shelves near the breakfast nook for a tall pantry. You can add more space at the top when adding upper cabinets and that way the space is framed. The thing about craftsman ship homes is the details and I can see so many opportunities in this space. I wish I had the means to work on such a beauty.

    A Craftsman! People will pay a premium for that style, and I suspect that Craftsman homes are unusual in your area. I hope you can save all the original doors, Elisa. It's kind of a shame that all the doors and moldings have been painted, and that icky glue is on the original floors. Good luck with restoration. Where will you put the W/D and Hot Water Heater? There's no attached garage and it's a small space. Love your ideas regarding the weird toilet-only bathroom and Master closet. I'm thinking you can possibly use shaker-style cabinets in a wood finish for authenticity? I used to live in Pasadena and people do really interesting things with exterior color paints on this style of home. I am fascinated by the kitchen: where WERE the appliances? So weird. This will be a challenge and I can't wait to see what you do with this one.

      Actually, there are many historical gems in the Bay Area, including a healthy number of Craftsman architecture style.
      Frank Lloyd Wright, Eichler, Victorian, Spanish Colonial Revival -- both directions of history, a plethora of styles.

    I would ditch the additional sheds in the backyard. It just seems like too much.

    Nice project. I hate to see that the kitchen built-ins will be removed. It's those elements that make these homes so appealing. Maybe you can keep at least one of the cabinets? Perhaps the built-in cabinet across from the sink. I hope you can find a spot for the ironing board (maybe near the laundry?) It isn't intrusive and adds so much charm.

    PLEASE try to save some of the built-ins, they give the home lots of charm.

    U should leave everything in that kitchen. Don't make a craftsmanship home a modern home. The home just needs a face-lift notnu turning it into a modern home some peopemstill lo e older updated homes

    • @nancyk5203
      @nancyk5203 6 місяців тому +3

      I agree!! Once modernized, the home would only be a "Craftsman" on the outside... Heartbreaking seeing how these old homes are gutted and stripped of their charm; what made them special and unique.

    Hopefully you don’t tear out all the good stuff that makes this house unique. The built ins are priceless. Please don’t paint the interior gray either.

    Does anyone know if a Craftsman house always has a big dining room off the living room? That is what I have experienced, but maybe they decided to remodel and make a bedroom to the right of the front door (from what was originally open and a dining room)? The house is cute.

      From what I’ve seen, yes they do. You can look at house plans for Sears houses and the like online too. Lots of restored Craftsman tours on here too.
