I am a faithful Catholic from California and I love my faithful Christian brothers and sisters from different denominations. Many years ago, God had been whispering about fasting to me. I was sincerely asking Jesus about it but I was not getting it. Then I was in Bethesda for work and excited to spend time at Barnes N Noble one Saturday. As I was leaving, Jesus led me to a shelf where Pastor’s book on fasting was. I had to buy it. It gave me the knowledge I needed about Fasting. God the Father knew better. I would need it at that specific time in my life. Then He asked me to have dedicated day to fast for Him - no reason that I know of. It’s simply for Him and it is for the rest of my life instruction. Then again after the 2020 election, God the Father asked me again to offer a day of abstinence from my absolute favorite. This time, it’s for our country. God used your work, Pastor. Thank you for listening to Jesus and writing that powerful, life changing, faith-building book. Jesus is Lord! God the Father raised Him up from the dead. Amen.

Jesus didn't say it was fasting that was required to cast out demons, the problem with the disciples was their unbelief. He was saying that fasting and prayer causes your unbelieve to "diminish" so that you can use your faith to cast out demons. Demons don't care if you are fasting or not, they don't react to your fasting, they react to your faith and authority. Matthew 17: 19-21
