Saika is probably best described as a mixture between Kusamono, Saikei (landscape portrait), and a touch of Ikebana.
Saika is a modern and light feeling of a landscape presentation often mixing young trees, with soft plantings and even decorative gravel.
Used in Japan to attract younger people to the art of bonsai.
In this episode, we look into upgrading the way of developing the modern Saika in a context relating to the traditions of bonsai.

Where can you buy a copper watering can like the one you use, it's just awesome!
Some years ago the copper watering cans where much easier to find and much cheaper. Increasing copper prices have made them expensive. Probably why they are not around that much anymore.
Mine is old now. Around 15 years or so. Still going strong.

This is a great idea, Morten! A lot of my own trees which look a bit on the young side become much more interesting when incorporated into rock plantings, forest plantings, or when planted alongside an accent like your Saika. I hope to see more people in bonsai try this :)
