    I don't understand how this video has so few plays. The quality of editing, image and the magnificent workbench you have done does not deserve it. You have a new subscriber, greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina ! (the other side of the world)

      Meh. It takes more than editing. He has some very good ideas but then screws the pooch on many of them with a severe over reliance on MDF to make heavy duty bits like this workbench. Not to mention the complete lack of safety by not wearing some type of respirator while cutting that toxic garbage or using a push stick only occasionally.

    Very nicely done. You might consider routing small notches in the bottom of your shelves for the pins to fit into. This will keep the shelf from sliding in and out when sliding stuff on top of it.

    You need to put some kind of sealant on that raw material to keep moisture out of it. Over time, it will become soft from moisture infiltration.

    Nice work, looks like its serving you well. I think Chris has a good point about treating the surface with something to keep moisture out and make cleaning easier. Shellac or thinned polyurethane are supposed to be good, you'll just have to do a few coats because the MDF like to soak up the finish. Looking forward to seeing more stuff, subbed.

    I love those router templates, but why not use a flush trim bit? Do you need the part attached to the router? I'm new to this so I'm probably overlooking something.
    I made a few of my own router templates out of hardboard that I use with a flush trim bit and they work awesome! I can make a dozen copies with them no problem.
    I never considered 3D printing a template though! Making a perfect template is hard work, that could seriously help.

    • @somedude2492
      @somedude2492 4 роки тому

      Usually flush trim bits have the bearing on their tip, which means they have to have the template under whatever you're trimming. For these handles, that wouldn't work. Maybe if you found a trim bit with the bearing in the middle or at a specific height it could work. But that's not the case.

    I have been watching ILiketomakestuff, and see that he uses something called a "dado-stack" to cut grooves like you did on the tablesaw, but I have understood that those aren't available here?

    • @Psychlist1972
      @Psychlist1972 4 роки тому

      Felder makes an equivalent available, but the saw has to be able to support them, and the EU has some requirements around that related to braking. That means most inexpensive saws can't use them, which means most home/hobby shops never see them.
      Also, they cost around $1000 USD just for the blades.

    • @Neslekkim
      @Neslekkim 4 роки тому +1

      @@Psychlist1972 Ah, good to know. Looked like a good way to do it this also. And I guess a router would be usable also? But this is not my trade though :)

    • @Psychlist1972
      @Psychlist1972 4 роки тому

      @@Neslekkim Yeah. The EU generally prefers you use a shaper or router. Those are better for stopped grooves or really large panels in any case.

    Imagine if you will an almost magical invention, a device that eliminates the tedious and questionable reliability of repeatedly passing a piece of wood over a single saw blade nudging the fence each pass to create a recess in the wood and praying that you can get the fence back into the exact starting position to begin the next series of cuts. This device is called a stacked dado set and you have just entered the Twilight Zone...or you live in any year after 1900 when they were invented.

    • @davidbrennan7422
      @davidbrennan7422 4 роки тому +2

      Imagine if you will other countries with different rules about power tools. You have entered... the rest of the world. All kidding aside, see the comments above about dado stacks in Europe. In my opinion, its debatable whether a dado stack is inherently more dangerous than a regular table saw blade, but sadly no-one in Europe cares about my opinions. Hey, whatever gets the job done I guess.
