This is probably the best knot video I have ever watched: a few simple knots and I like how you show how to tie each knot twice. Thanks.

this is EXACTLY what I was looking for, I've learned some knots but these are the easiest and most efficient ones from what I have seen till now, and covers the most scenarios for setting up a tarp. Tomorrow I will go again in nature and I will apply what I will practice them after I finish write this comment. Amazing tips, thank you so much!!!

I would substitute the "tensioning knot" for a trucker's hitch, especially on a ridgeline. It's much faster to tie, you'll use a lot less line and it's more secure. It's also faster to adjust since you don't have to undo several wraps around the standing post.

  • @zBMatt

I believe the three knots people should learn are the truckers hitch, taught line, and slip knot. Truckers hitch + slipknot allows for a super taught, but quick take down, ridge line. Slipknot + taught line allows for the same.
Truckers hitch is also much faster to tie than the knot you used in the beginning, and it’s a useful knot to know in general for tying things down.
    Great Video!

The first one you describe is also known as the Evenk slippery hitch, the Evenk are a tribe of reindeer German in Lapland who developed this knot as a means of securing quickly due to sub zero temperatures, and not wanting bare hands in cold for too long, I use it on my ridgeline all the time

First knot was new for me and I had to learn it immediately, third knot is useful but I knew that already. However, I don't see the purpose of second one - it's not adjustable, takes a long time (winding around the tree) to tie/untie and doesn't bring anything over f.e. trucker's hitch.

Not bad. Second knot could be a trucker's hitch--you can still adjust while it's around the post without having to unwind the cordage and put a safety loop over the tag end. Just my opinion.
