The PHYSICS student in me wants the plasma coil.
The physics STUDENT can’t afford it
😂
@@andrewhuangsend the man a plasma pedal!
Try putting more water in your ramen and adding pepper to trick yourself into thinking it's still food. If anyone asks tell them it's a fad diet.
That Bigsby/Plasma jam at the end sounded absolutely insane, you guys NEED to do something with that on the next First of October album
YES
It had major Infected Mushroom vibes, it made me very happy.
i agree, post this as a song!!
God isn't it crazy that that's almost here???
13:07...Make this jam a song!
This show is so good I can't even figure out how it's made anymore. The seamless integration of the backing band both in skits and the songs has my head spinning for what order things had to be done in to make all these pieces fit.
For the record Spacetime did the same thing to me haha.
I'm thinking they recorded the pedals and guitars with a metronome in their headphone monitors.. then they recorded drums and bass. Only way it would make sense to me considering they were improvising the guitar parts.
It’s simple. They are in the same room. All of them understand music theory.
@@nicholasgascoyne3144 Ah jeez I should have thought about that. They can CLEARLY see each other and talk to each other on the fly.
I'm guessing either they do have a drummer in the drum room, or the producer just cues up some loops.
look at andrews forehead. his wig fits differently from clip to clip, they recorded the “band” clip with rob playing drums beforehand for the bit, and then right afterwards switched to filming
Food for future experiments: I’ve heard the plasma pedal is excellent on synths!
Yesss I’ve done it! Check out my Osmose synth overview where I ran it through the Plasma Rack 😊
Everything is excellent on synths
@@nickp440I don’t have any hardware synths, but if I did my dream would be to amp and mic them. I’ve seen videos of people doing it, all the amp settings and mic placements make it sound better than a straight up saw and lowpass
@@Hollandvancewright im not much of a keys/synth player, but have been jamming with a synth player for the last month. We had his Moog running into my helix last weekend and it was seriously so fricken cool experimenting
Physicist here! Plasma is basically matter that is so highly energized that the atoms have a difficult time retaining electrons. This has the result of making plasma very reactive to outside fields (like electrical/magnetic fields) and other disturbances.
that bigsby / plasma jam was so good!!
makes me want them to make nu metal
@@beepbleepboopThey sure should do some more with First of October, Bookmobile is a great song.
Sounds like something out of Cyberpunk
andrew is always stylish but that fit went beyond hard
great video as always, love sonic boom!
💃😘
Amen. The thought ,"What is that beautiful coat?" kept distracting me from the pedals.
it's because he likes men
@@andrewhuangCan you PLEASE tell me where you got that coat. It’s freaking amazing I love it
He came in that lab coat drip to experiment baby that's what we live for!
So many youtubers don't chase the magic when they find something that works. I'm so glad you are chasing the magic that happens when you two are together.
That Bigsby Plasma jam was KILLER!
This is the kind of music variety show I always wanted but I didn't know it until they made it. lol It's like the best parts of my favourite shows, but it's about music so it's 100000X better.
God, this show is so good
I feel like Sonic Boom is getting big enough for its own channel at this point. Awesome stuff guys
ya but , viewership issues
I am so here for this expanding Andrew + Rob hanging out in their studio multiverse.
Really hoping the drummers work situation turns out ok, really wishing him the best!
I was interested in the Bigsby pedal before, now I want one. And those plasma pedals, love me some fuzz.
This format is really killing it. Two professional musicians playing around with different gear and no egos, love it.
I would love full versions of some of these jam songs, especially the light pedal jams!
I know Rob did a video with her already, but a video with Emily Hopkins visiting y'all and bringing pedals would be EPIC!
Love seeing the band more!
What a great ad! The impact of music really set in in my music in film class in college, watching part of Lord of the Rings without music is downright booooring. lol
Definitely! Love Emily!
Having a third to lay a track on a blind collaborative, where each person starts a song idea on one instrument and the rest of the band lays down without any conversation where they think or want the song to go, could wildly alter the sounds, for sure.
The gear is great and all, but honestly it’s just awesome to watch you guys jam and have fun!
Man, this Show is amazing. I want it to last forever.
Me: sick with a cold
Also me: headbanging
The beats in this episode are so fire that even a cold can't stop me from rock'n out
We need an album with those pedals. Either song in an hour or First of October.
That last jam was immense
Headless wasn't the first song from First of October here, I heard a piece of "temporary" earlier as well. :) Great episode guys!
also the chords from Rollerblading in that first jam
Muse is gonna have some words with you cutting in on their territory like that at the end there :D
That’s so insane! The first one is probably the one that interests me the most. So many options and possibilities. I love the cut takes to the band, you guys executed that perfectly 😅 lol.
Yet another absolute banger episode!! The plasma pedals are too cool.
Also, _what_ is Andrew's coat? I want one. I need it in my life.
You know you are best friend if you can feed your guitar signals trough the same pedals simultaneously without it being awkward.
The Light Pedal sounds so MAGICAL! This needs to be in a Song from First of October, about an Wonderful autumn mood and stuff! SO INSANELY MAGICAL!
You guys should do a head-to-head. Each of you gets the same 4 instruments with appropriate input, tuned and blended the same, and produces 1 song. Another show idea, similar, but each one of you lays down the next instrument track based on what the first person input. Switch which input goes first on different episodes. Do not talk with each other, no contact between the two except the track playbacks.
None of that makes any sense. Try to make it a tenth as complicated... And you'll have an idea they already passed on.
@@tmw3489 We the viewer get 2 different songs, from the same two people, built at the same time, across multiple instruments. On the "Blind Collaboration," they can only communicate what they would like through the instrument tracks. Trust me on this, if two artists could work to make quality tracks without talking, it's these two.
I know it’s been said a bunch already, but I am so happy that this series exists, and that we get to see these two extremely talented goofsters go at it outside of October 😂. Production value and editing is amazing too!
all of the jams in this were so good, i loved the light pedal ones at the start!!! would've loved for these to have been full songs!
That first light pedal sounds like something The Shins could've built a whole album around xD
oh dude absolutely.
Shout out to the band!!! You guys rock!!! 🤘🎸🤘
Love having Andrew explain whats goin on with the pedals.
The sonic boom series is the best thing on UA-cam right now, love it!
those plasma pedals have major Muse or Queens of the Stone age vibes
5:43 I NEED A FULL VERSION OF THIS NOW
This show is amazing! Please keep making this. I love the band interactions and the excited collaboration between you guys ❤
Loved that you guys used more of the band in this episode!
"I'd hate to communicate that to make good music you just need gear..." Welcome to the Singularity Mr. Rob. Don't let up, you built it. Fun show, amazing sounds. And yes, no more than 3 pedals per album, please, since that will let you explore a few sounds, while giving the rest of us more of your music to enjoy.
i dunno what hoodie andrew's wearing, but it makes him look like the coolest mad scientist. also... i want one.
I'm genuinely curious as to how they recorded the house band sections lmao
They are just that good they can make music one instrument at a time. Tho im guessing its easier to follow bass and drums after the guitar then the other way around.
@@TeKettI'd start with rhythm (drums first, then bass, then any other comping instrument, then lead instruments, then vocals)... I basically go from "least diva" instrument to "most diva". But these 2 could probably start anywhere, no prob... tho, it's hard to play tight drums after other instruments when those other instruments didn't play to a click... they probably could do that.
Probably record guitars to a click and then drums and bass later
i think they played to a click and added it later
They record it in post. Then dress up, and mime the cuts
The Bigsby + plasma song was pretty sick :O!
That jammin session feel like mid-west emo core and im all for it
Bro that fucking bigspy and plasma jam was fucking orgasmic
i love gamechanger audio, i own the plasma and the light and they are just so much fun. so nice to see you have fun with them as well
I listened to this video while mowing the lawn, figured I'd watch it after, now that I'm watching it....totally forgot about the band 😂
I love how much attention goes into including the band
I watched this entire video purely because of how funny it was but damn that jam was tight! My friend sent it to me saying that the editing style reminded him of my series and I can see it! I love the heavy stuff because that's the type of music I make. Can't wait to check out more of you guys!
Can’t believe I slept on this video til now. The title and thumbnail did not prepare me for how fire this was!
Rob, you and Andrew have the skills and talent to leverage this gear. Making good music takes effort and natural ability, without those the equipment is useless.
Andrew's and Rob's best videos are when they are together like this and first of October
12:40 went hard. love it. you guys rock. i love this whole video
I need all of these! :) Thanks guys!
wow. If Sonic Boom is this good now, this upcoming First Of October album is gonna !!SLAP SO HARD!!
This is great! More of these!
those plasma pedals are so awesome..sounds like space metal.... haha
i love watch this two just gooffing arround with awesome gear and different instruments, man this is content
Andrew attempt to explain plasma is actually very accurate. Solids have the lowest intrinsic energy state, liquids follow, then gases, and plasma has the highest energies of any state of matter (state “beyond gas”).
Basically the plasma petal is essentially a high voltage transformer arcing though a tube of gas.
Are they actually recording an episode and then turn themselves into Red Rob and Blue Andrew for another go each time these "characters" appear???
🤯🤣
yes
Got some real Mick Gordon DOOM vibes from the Bigsby/Plasma Jam.
I'm not even a guitar kinda person but that last jam went ridiculously hard!! also love the little bits of lore with the band hahaha
that plasma bigsby jam was actually mindblowing. holy. fuck. god. damn.
You're the best duo
uhh yeah if that Plasma/Bigsby pedal powerhouse isn't on the next FOO, we riot
love watching you guys have so much fun!
I’m Loving The New Show Guys! Unbelievably Creative! 🤘🏻
oh my heck that section with the Bigsby and Plasma pedals was sooo good
Wow, normally at the end of a video with Rob I'm very happy I watched it. This time I was so sad it ended. I could easily have watched an hour of this.
I have the Light Pedal. It is so fun to use. Great video!
My favourite combo is the Sustain + Bigsby, but putting the Bigsby only on the wet signal, doing subtle shifts and vibrato on the drone
Great idea!
Holy shit that last thing you did with the pitch bend peddles back and forth soloing is one of the coolest things ever
I'm loving the increasing "band" involvement!
I don't know how much love the band is getting but they crack me up every time, especially with the drummer's laugh!
I'm loving this show
Such a Great Series!!! I really love all the episodes.💯
luv the format of the video
Loved this video!
2 things, that pure sludge was awesome and 11:32 whatever Rob is doing here sounds really interesting. I feel like I've heard something similar at some point, maybe in a game soundtrack.
This is freaking awesome!
Ooooh that plasma'd-up Bigsby tone was amazing. Imma have to echo a few others and say you need to work that into the next FoO album.
Edit: Having listened to that part again, I can't help getting Dillinger/Every Time I Die vibes from it. Awesome little jam, that :)
Just want to say that I love Sonic Boom so much. I love you and Rob separately but I think you both complement each-other perfectly, musically, creatively, and in terms of personality
I feel like the Plasma pedal just adds a MUSE kind of vibe to anything 😂
I can never get enough of these two together 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Dude, the Light Pedal is one of my favorite pedals! There are some real awesome sounds in that thing! I lose myself for hours sometimes!
Andrew straight up looking like Seifer from Final Fantasy VIII with that jacket.
Love that light pedal reverb feature where you can pick hard for more reverb or pick in low volume im going nuts with that feature with boss aw3 dynamic wah..
I loved the bit right at the end of the video, lol!
"was that the video?"
Yes.. holy crap that was nuts
Bluebass Andrew's face sez he looooves sludge, RedRob on drums is feeling ill. Hahahaha I love it, and the tone / timbres on offer there.
I feel so inspired after watching these guys
the one episode where the band can truly shine xD poor band just standing there and watching ever other episode until this one, you know what the band is two guys and Rob and Andrew are two guys, hmmm it would be crazy if they revealed the band was Rob and Andrew all along o.O
That one in collaboration with Jack White, is literally so Jack White.
Rob and Andrew, best buds for life ❤
Great job guys!
I always wished andrew huang and rob would collab w andrew huang and rob
The motivation from the band in the end was 🤌
the disappointment on Andrew's face at the fart humor 😂
From the way you two described it, the plasma pedal sounds like all those videos of Tesla coils playing music
imma need all those songs on the platforms asap
Loved the final track!
9:14 Rob just straight up turns into Buckethead temporarily.
