Madeline id say go visit it. Great school! Great social life, it's challenging but sooo amazing. The weather is definitely something you should consider but it's one of the most beautiful campuses I've ever set foot in and I'm originally from LA but man is UW everything I've ever wanted from a university.
Both of my parents went to Duke and they HATED it. They said they were absolutely miserable while they attended. They say the environment was terrible. My dad refuses to let me apply there (not that I want to). My dad even left and went to Notre Dame and loved it there. Literally almost everything he has has fighting Irish logo on it.
Definitely not all of them. One girl talked about coming from a poverty ridden urban area while others said that their financial aid was the best bonus about duke
I personally do not like Duke, because they pick up people because of their athletics skills... However, an argument can be made that many others schools do that. Well I feel the same towards them.
