All is right in the world again when an Outdoor Gold Video comes along. I had no idea this trail was up on the Mesa. Looks pretty fun either way. Nice video as usual !
Thanks for another trail report! I rode this way back about 20 yrs ago as a novice on a hard tail with 26” wheels and very little front suspension. I don’t remember much other than walking A LOT. I was so glad to see the end!
I finally after 6 years without my drivers license just got it back right after Xmas, and I cannot wait to come out and experience some of the trails you showcase. this one being high on that list. Just straight up awesome single track.
The difference in trails by region in this country is amazing. If you come to my local trails, the whole network looks like one of your “rock gardens” on an XC style trail. I was told when I first started “if you can ride here you can ride anywhere”, and the more I ride and watch other trails I believe it.
Great trail...hell on the bike. I will be in Grand Junction for the first time next week. Haven’t had to leave Durango to find trails but I want to ride the ribbon trail while I am in Grand Junction. I also want to do Monarch Crest this summer. Thanks for the videos and I like the feedback you give on the trail.
Who is this RC fella? He looks a little familiar. I think he used to host push-up contests on YT or something.. Haha, good to have you back! That was one raw looking trail. Not much opportunity for speed, but I bet it's a great day out 🤘
Great ride. I will be there in September to give it a shot along with Palisades and Ribbon Trail. Any other epic DH shuttles in the general area that I should do as well? PS: Has anyone ever told you that your voice is so much like Steve Carel? lol
Need to work on my Steve Carel impersonation! Lol Kannah is a true backcountry gem, but in the Grand Valley, those are the main ones. Burro Down (WE) at 2 hours away is one of the greatest rides in the world in my opinion. It’s been a minute since I’ve been to the plunge, but it rides more downhill XC.
Looks like a great area. Why not get a local group to do proper maintenance on the trail? Clear the corridor. Create nicks, proper bench, and proper slope in rough sections. Clean or even turnpike the rock gardens enough to make them passable.
Endo, we are getting a new 6,000ft. descent trail within the next year or two, that will be Mtb specific. This really is a vintage 90s style rough ride type of trail
@@OutdoorGold Yeah I did some trail work in Eagle county last summer with someone from Junction who has been working on the Plunge. Should be good. The USFS and BLM have prescripted guidelines for multi use trail specifications. Not just MTB specific trails. Provided a trail is part of the approved management plan for an area, it seems like the BLM and USFS are coming around and working with groups who are willing do trail maintenance and erosion mitigation. Of course you have to come up with a proposal and jump through all of the bureaucratic hoops before hand. There is a great variety of trails and geographical terrain in the area around Grand Junction. Hopefully more of it can be opened to mtb recreational use in the future. It would make for a great destination area for people to enjoy.
zer0bytes2000 it took longer that it should have, I think if I was riding without camera equipment 2 hours, 3 hours with a couple breaks. This took me 4.5 hours.
@@OutdoorGold + 2 shuttles...up and over Lands End and then back down to the original point of departure. Camp at the bottom parking lot the night before. Take another day. Save yourself some pressure/stress. It is beautiful there.
I was visiting GJ, Fruita and Montrose last September 2019 and I only hiked this trail. I parked at the trailhead and hiked up a ways to a fork and took a right. My intent was to get up to the point where you started it. The signage was not good because the right I took brought me through super narrow, trench like trail terrain where I was walking through super high and dense foliage. I eventually cleared onto a hunting camp then decided I should check my phone and see where I was. I was way off so then I back tracked to the fork and took the left tine, went up a ways, crossed streams and it seemed to take forever so I turned around and headed back to my car. To be honest, I hated this trail. It was a huge let down compared to the Ribbon, which I hiked twice, Horse Thief Bench, Mary's, Mack's Ridge, some stuff at 18 Road and Buzzard Gulch in Montrose. I have to say that the Ribbon was the most spectacular trail I've ever hiked in my life and I have hiked/trekked all over the world.
Prior to riding it, I was thinking, ehhhh, I can ride this uphill as an out and back. My mind was changed lol. There were probably 10 to 15 creek crossings. Some I made it across and others I walked.
As Harry Stamper said in the movie Armageddon, "Damn glad to see you boy!" Great stuff RC!
Really want to ride that trail we’re like a hour away great vid
Nice, its worth a visit!

I'm back! lol thanks Rehn!
Ah good ol' Kannah Creek, where flow comes to die. Classic Grand Mesa jank-fest! Gotta love a trail that makes you work for every last bit of down.
LOL it really is another Grand Mesa Jank-fest! lol Nothing wrong with a slow downhill!

hahaha I don't blame you! Thanks for tuning in Ryan!
What a fun ride! Thanks!
Thanks for tuning in Drews!

Everybody had to experience a raw Singletracks!
barefoot MTB ,
Whew that is a pretty raw trail! Sick 🤘🤘
I felt like a mountain biker on this one!
You’re alive!!!!!
I'm not dead yet!
Good thing you didn't try jumping that snag...think I saw a gremlin under it.
Thanks for the vid shredder and Happy Trails 🤘🚲
Thanks for tuning in Rustic!
In my younger days, I used to do bushwhacking rides like that. Amazed you found a way to thread that together. That trail does have potential!
It gives off a nice backcountry vibe for sure!
Sweet man good to see ya again

NICE RIDE! Right on RC's Gold !!!👍👍😎
Tyler Berry 🤘🤘🤘
Too long is right!! FB Videos dont do it justice! Glad to have you back
hahaha didn't want to make 5 vids out of this one!
Cool. You’re back.
More vids to come in the future!
WILD and WOOLY. Nice!
Wouldn't want to have it any other way!

Ribbon and Monarch.... great stuff to ride. Glad I can help!
Great content!
Thanks for tuning in!
Thanks for sharing! Am-bare-a$$ed to say I never even knew this trail was there, looks like a fun ride
It was unique and worth a look!
Just peaceful madness hahah, cool ride RC!
RideLabs apparently it’s an emotional roller coaster 🎢
Good one RC! Are you sure that’s a trail? Lol. Thumbs up for adventure !!
Its an experience Nat!
Man that looked like a real workout! It's a tough one when your spokes catch it too!
It was truly an exercise in arm pump and leg push lol!

I'll never forget Paul doing pushups in the worst possible conditions LOL
Awesome video! Now when the deuce you coming to Cali to ride?
Cali is not officially a plan yet, but you better believe I want one of those MTBing Adventures sufferfests when I get a chance to go out there!
@@OutdoorGold ask and you shall receive.
@@mtbingadventures1551 Maybe June this year? I'm not sure when my vacation is going to align.
@@OutdoorGold That would be a great time. I would aim toward the end of June if possible just to make sure most of the snow melt is gone.
Seems like type 2, maybe 2+ fun. Guess I’ll have to wait for Lands End Road to open in May.

What. Is. This? An Outdoor Gold video?! Wait, what year is it?
I'd ride that, but not alone. How long did it take ?

Like MTB in the 90's!
FACT! Its one of the OG 90s trails, rough and wild! Way before my time in MTB!
RC’s riding partner: Hey, do you know of any trail that hasn’t had maintenance in 5 or more years?
RC: Say no more
Those trails do a great job finding me!
I thought Pinkbike said retired?
Brian Vaughn they must have been a bit premature about reporting my retirement....
@@OutdoorGold You've made a video, B1ker made a video. It been a good month for un-retiring.

we need 29ers for this!... so JANKY!
We don't want to overkill the trail! lol
Rugged Natural Trail. I can see why you did NOT want to climb that trail. Much more fun on the downhill. How many creeks did you have to cross?

Should rename that trail: Rock City or Boulder Highway.
I was super stoked to see a new video from you, but that trail was not an enjoyable watch.
Not all trails are UA-cam friendly!
Yay!
Holy crap that is a sketch-fest
That was a Tenacious Trail!
"very interactive"
lol. not much flow on that one.
