    Thanks for the detailed tear down. This will be very helpful in figuring out why my belt is squealing and smoking.

      @5to9Design I’m glad you liked the video and found it helpful. The rod that runs across will sometimes shift and cause problems that you will think is the belt. At least now you have a good idea of how to break it down. Happy carving!

    Great video, thanks for taking the time and posting. Mine is squilling crazy Loud. It may be the belt

    You mentioned you had the motor replaced under warranty. I have the same planer and only used it a half dozen times and the motor literally just smoked on it. Is this the same issue you had with your motor?

      @@kylecrawford810 the belt would slip and start burning on mine. I had the first motor just burn up after about 6 months of use as well. I have found this is a good hobbyist machine but when I started using if almost daily it definitely didn’t live up to hard work.

    I have the same planer, bought 3 weeks ago. it doesnt plane level, left to right. have you found any way to adjust the head left to right? thanks....your belt replaement video is very helpful.

      @markbaldwin975, I’m glad you found the video helpful. I would suggest checking your blades to see that they are evenly worn. If those are all equal then I would check the adjustments on both side rails. Hopefully that helps and best of luck.

    Very good - but I would roll the fan blower belt off the top pully without removing the pully off of the shaft at all like you did on the top drive belt. Would a set screw lock the shaft in one end hole?

    Awesome video!! Would you mind sharing how you checked the timing and made sure everything was level? Also what did you use to clean up the chains and relubricate then? Ridgid has so little information on maintaining these machines it's pathetic!

      @robertwillis3123 Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I used some degreaser spray with a cloth rag then 3 in 1 oil for lubricant.

    One question. If the motor starts sending sparks when switched on, thats not a good symptom right?🤔

    • @beardedfamilyman243
      @beardedfamilyman243  25 днів тому

      @@GMercyless absolutely not a good symptom at all but it might not be as bad as you think. Mine was throwing sparks so I thought I would have to replace the motor or my entire planer. After doing the tear down and inspection I found a couple things that were causing the sparks that are simple and cheap to repair. I hope the video was helpful thanks for the comment. Happy woodworking!

      It was. Thanks a lot! Im guessing my motor is still good cause it spins alright and the brushes look just like the ones you removed, mild dents and grooves. So im still figuring out what could be the issue. I can only bet on replacing the brushes and maybe the motor bearings, and hope for it to work. 👍👍

    That's some b******* about that rod not having some sort of quarter pan or c clip or something on it. At least you know it's an issue now and you can check it before you start utilizing it. Maybe even cut a special block to wedge between

      @Kluger's Garage, definitely think its a engineering flaw that could easily be fixed. I will probably take it out and drill a small hole for a cotter pin if I ever have a problem again.
