  • Constructed in the early 1970's from a 1953 White school bus chassis and a 1957 Spartan Royal Manor travel trailer. Since this vehicle has been garaged for nearly 50 years, it's probably one of the best original condition examples of a mid century Spartan Royal Manor.

    A one and only, your Dad sounds like someone that could build anything and never threw anything away. I had a father in law just like that.

      Sounds like you knew my dad. You are exactly correct. I'm still dealing with a garage full of stuff that he collected over the years.

      Thanks for the comments. He was very smart about mechanical things. I'm glad that we were able to take the motorhome out on one last trip after sitting in the garage for 30 years. I think he really enjoyed that trip which we took just a few years before he passed away.

    I'm not kidding when I say that is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! I remember seeing a picture of it a few years ago and thinking "that looks like someone took a travel trailer and put it on a school bus chassis" but I had no idea that's literally what it is! I can't even imagine what people must think of it out on the road. I love old flathead motors too, so seeing that in there is awesome!

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It is a very unique vehicle. The last time we had it out on the road we got plenty of stares and thumbs up. By the way, where did you see a picture of the motorhome?

      @@mguess What would you value that build at? Obviously family built it, so its priceless, but I would want to know what you think a figure would be in today's market?

    • @mguess
      @mguess  4 роки тому +1

      @@pww571 I have no idea of a current value, but you are right about it being priceless to me. I'm not even sure what it cost my dad to build it and he died a few years ago so I can't ask. It really needs a modern engine and transmission to make it safe for today's roads. With the old White bus motor it has a top speed of about 55 which was OK for the 70's but not today.

    WHY are you selling this family gem that your Dad made? The travel trailer should be kept in the family or placed into a family museum. The exhaust system sounds terrific! Your Dad was a brainiac and your parents enjoyed each other's company. Your life was / is very blessed by them.

    might be time for a 8.2 Detroit. I had a old f600 wrecker with a 8.2 NON TURBO A 5 speed trans and a 2 speed test and end loaded I got 24+- mpg .time for vintage rv shows

      Tim, thanks for the comments. Before my Dad passed away we were looking for a used school bus with a Cummins turbo diesel and an Allison automatic transmission. Not sure which way I'll go now but it definitely needs a new drivetrain to make it usable on modern roads.
