Idk about minecraft I built a cat house on that once but got pretty bored pretty quick, Diamond is supposed to be one of the hardest/sharpest natural materials on earth tho
The new snap together handle style and lock etc look like a huge upgrade for sure, but they are really not allowing the design to shine...everyone is focussed on that crazy price hike. Ouch.
***** yeah the peopel who will buy these are the ones who have the plastic version and just really want the metal version, people complain about $500 knives I guess $65 is not much right, lol
agree jeff, a fair rrp would be $29.99 maybe because its not in mass production yet, recouping costs due to r&d etc. notice there going away from (non metal) material because of security. the original appeal was because it would pass through metal detectors - lets be honest.
if were honest Ill let everyone know knives that were plastic that passed through metal detectors came out in the 90's...long before this stuff, if were being really honest we can admit people buying stuff to pas through metal detectors do it to be cool, no one is sneaking shit pass metal detectors, lol p.s. I had a credit card knife taken away from me at the airport back in the 90s on my way to a family vacation to disney, I forgot it in my wallet it was the swisscard...taken aside and they told me they had to take it, I said I understand and that was that, no asshole search, no problems, lol
This will not pass though a metal detector. I do have weapons that will pass though a metal detector, but this is not one of them. Oh, and just a tip. If you are smuggling a weapon onto a plane, remember the scanner is an x-ray machine, not a metal detector. Oh and another tip, bribing the security in Shanghai Pudong International Airport will let you carry whatever you want...as long as the price is right.
jjdabom I just checked. Every single one of them had a steel blade. They did not go though metal detectors. If you need a knife that can go though a metal detector, Cold Steel has a nice line of them.
I didn't even know there was a version 2. I got the first one for about $3 off Amazon. I never expected it to perform any action other than cutting an envelope or piece of string etc. I have to say that this version is now usable as a neat knife but it's well over priced. It needs to be below $30. Now one thing that was missed in the review is the life span of the knife. The hinges are made from a flexible material. It will degrade over time. If its silicone then it will last quite long. If it's latex or rubber based it will degrade fast. Especially with oil from your hands. Something worth thinking about. That said I would still have to own this in my wallet as a gadget man! Just not at that price!
I was really excited when we saw the sneak preview on this because I think they really are a good idea as a back up. But the price increase is just ridiculous! Problem is, if they upgrade the blade steel, the price will just keep rising.
I have two of the older model all I had to pay was for the postage. I've had them for three years they are for emergency use only. What time I have use them opening up boxes are serving me just fine. Both are razor sharp.
I think it's worth getting the old one for about 5 or 6 bucks, and throw it in your wallet just as a back up. Plus it's sort of a neat little gadget just to showoff.
I followed the company on Facebook and when going through my news feed, I saw a link from them where they were selling the black plastic knife for 99 cents, when I got I wasn't in shock and awe but whatever, it fits in my wallet I'm actually kind of happy knowing I didn't pay retail value not even knowing the retail value was $9 until now
A+ for design and upgrades. But to me the price point defeats the purpose. I purchased my cardsharp over 2 years ago and I think I've used it once. I often forget I even have it when I'm in need of a simple knife. I just dont think this type of an item needs a price tag like that. You cant really do any other task with it that cant be dobe with the $5 version. I must say the handle and new lockup does seem legit
I have carried the Cardsharp 2 for about 5 years in my wallet behind a metal aluminum plate that says penicillin allergy and gone through US and international TSA over 10 times and never had a look in my wallet. Also forgot about a leatherman multi tool in my backpack several times and never looked at, although scanned at least half a dozen times. Love my Sinclair from Amazon. Bought ten so I will always have one when no other knife is at hand. Mainly used for cake or packaging.
Iain Sinclair company fell to sh*t. I bought the CardSharp 2 years ago and was pleased. Bought the CardSharp 4 at the insane price $65, never received it. 2 years of emails and they never sent it. The company fell apart when counterfeit copies started being made of their original CardSharp. Very disappointing.
It's more novelty than useful. I carried the original for a year or so and it never found its way out of my pocket so I eliminated it. On the very rare occasion that I might forget my EDC knife, I found my Leatherman Squirt on my keychain safer and a better performer. Ultimately, I'd rather NOT have it to use - even vs. nothing. Not sure what they were thinking with such a high price on a better version of a novelty product?!
I have the Card Sharp 2s.. just have them as a wallet carry back-up cutting tool. Not my EDC (for use). In an emergency... I have a new knife, sharp and ready to use. That is all.
I gotta say that this is a very good design with impressive engineering going into it, but the price is pretty high. I think it would appeal mainly to extreme survivalists who like to have every possible tool imaginable on them. Maybe after a while they will come out with better materials for the blade, i'd like to see one in maybe a 1045
when you were testing it on the bottom of the knife you were going slow and as you worked your way up you started going faster which makes the paper bend making the cut rigid.
I'm thinking about buying this for my gf bc she wants a low key defensive weapon, but that price is too high. I wish the original was way more sturdy, but it looks like that's my main option rn.
Im still trying to figure out what the selling point is on these other than novelty. If you get into a jam and need a knife, you have to go thru a lot of steps before you have a blade in hand. Just reaching for your wallet maybe difficult enough, but then you have to basically assemble this to use it. Still, nothing like a pocket knife. Semper Fi
the new one is really nice... my original ones the blades popped off so I epoxied them on they dont do that now... the improvements are nice& it looks nice& sturdy but I just dont see spending 65 bucks on a credit card knife..
I PAID 6.00 FOR THE FIRST VERSION AND IT WORK OK.. I TAKE IT TO NIGH CLUB JUST IN CASE I REALLY NEED HELP.. I PUT IT INSIDE MY WALLET WHEN THEY RUN THE METAL DETECTOR I SHOW THEM MY WALLET.. I DONT LOOK FOR TROUBLE BUT IF I'M GOING TO BE JUMP BY 3 GUYS I RATHER BE JUDGE BY 12 THAN CARRY BY 6...
You are great to leave with black eyes,i have heard stories of people being beaten unconcious then kicked on the ground so much they had broken ribs, internal bleeding, liver and kidney damage .But that is also better than being stabbed or shot. One of the craziest stories i have ever heard is that some guys got in a fight in front of a nightclub, and one of them pulled axe out of his car,and cut off someone's ear. Pretty crazy stuff happens over in Europe, especially in Russia,Serbia,Poland and Ukraine.
Look for it direct from china if its made in china, odds are if its $40 here in USA, its probably $4 over there with $1.30 for shipping. Same product usually, if theres overstock the factory liquidates it for cheap.
well, it's definitely a big upgrade but for the price it's not really worth it if you ask me. i bought 10 cardsharp 2's on ebay for $2 in total, so i don't mind if a couple break.
Just ordered the older one, at RSA175 ($10.97) and to the video it should have been RSA95.68 ($6.00) hope it is worth it. But a good review and insight non the less, thanks for the info
The problem with using 420 on a backup knife is that the blade will lose it's sharpness just over time with no use at all. A good backup/emergency knife needs a blade steel that will hold an edge over time. I'd rather have 420 on an edc knife because then at least you know day to day how it's edge is holding up and can sharpen it accordingly. Basically, the steel choice they are using does not fit the knife's intended use.
If that helps,i brought the plastic one inside every major parisian museum unnoticed under the metal detector,Gare D Orsay,Rodin museum,Louvre,Centre Pompidou, etc. The only place that noticed it was L Orangerie.
I would like to see how it holds up with slashing a water bottle. Hissatsu5 Did a test recently with the plastic one, and it broke with barely leaving a nick on the bottle. I know this is a back up utility knife, but I think videos showing it fail at being a weapon are good for hopefully debunking stupid situations like the High School one.
Thanks for the review, I have wondered about this knife. I already own the Case mini Buckhorn knife which is similar with a lock blade and the average price is around $15.00.
I guess it would look nice in a knife collection, but at $65 there are just too many better alternatives. Even with the novelty factor, this is just not worth more than $20.
I'm a big fan of the credit card knives I have one of the cheapos ones I use about everyday I don't really like carrying a knife around cuz I lose them too easy so credit ca% do work great for me this one is a nicer design other then it being way over priced I still might get one .thank for the review
I would pay no more then 20 and that is high end for little thing like this. I am impressed with the new changes and applaud them in efforts. But, I think they still have some work to do. Specially if they want high bucks.. Nice review man.
It's probably so expensive because if these aren't in mass production then people have to manually machine these and machining something this thin and small is extremely difficult, i have tried to make something like this on a mill with sheet metal and tried it again with a block of steel and can't do it , it takes skill so it would take skilled workers and tons of time to make just 1, so they have to drive the price up to afford the workers paychecks, the material, and alot of other things
also when ever i go thru the airport ,sporting events etc i always throw my wallet in the bin with my keys etc,,and then go thru the metal detector .. and not once have they found mine .... ;)
I got my CardSharp MK II for a dollar and it was a buy one take one bargain which was nice and I got it sooner than expected the blade is sharp as heck (Edit) the plastic one is slick and flexible supposed you have an emergency and it can be drawn in a click
I bought the plastic one for a girlfriend several years back.. I knew it was junk but she wanted one and it was cheap.. cheap enough that I even bought a two pack lol. She was never really gonna use it anyway.. just stick it in her purse and forget about it.
I can't say about x10, but those are some serious improvements. I haven't watched one of your cardsharp videos since the original I think, but I'm glad you uploaded this one.
for stability yes, but performance not to much, lookign at the whole picture though the purpose of this knife is not for constant use, so it may be a moot point really...
cutlerylover True, it's not perfect in any sense of the word. But it's still a step in the right direction, correct? Just a better steel for the blade and maybe figure a way to bring the price down
I purchased one and had it for 4 days and opened and closed it maybe 10 times only to have one of pieces of handle completely serperate making the knife unsuable. I emailed them and they sent me a replacement only to have the blade joint separate making it once again unusable. I'm over this.
Agree, I bought this plastic one for like 6 dollars and I don't know what to think. Blade is just fine, its really sharp but plastic flaps are about to break, and I don't know if its a Chinese knockoff or real one, package looked legit and I can't really see the difference but again 6 dollars makes me wonder.
I bought 2 of the Cardsharp2's for $5 shipped. Based on that...if they had this at $10 for 1 I'd definitely buy it...I may even be willing to spend as much as $15...but £55 is ridiculous.
Why not review the cardsharp 2.2 instead of this one? The cardsharp 2.2 is only £20 and has the same locking mechanisms as the cardsharp 4, it is just made out of plastic instead of metal. It looks like a very good knife in my opinion :)
lol its not even in use, its the spare in the utility room I will eventually take the battery out though I can understand it can be distracting for some
Cutlerylover I love your videos but I have a question, witch knife should I get between the case copperlock and the case mako for every day carry? Btw I like traditional knives and if you have other knives to recommend then just tell me.
cutlerylover Do you have any recommendations for the knives that open when they're taken out of a pocket? I know some Kershaws do. Just looking for a decently (under 50) priced knife. Thank you
You would really need to put out a specific price. There is a lot of difference for what can be found for $30 and $40. Also what purpose you are looking to use it for is important to. Generally for lower cost knives I suggest you look at Kershaw ($20 and up recommended), the Cold Steel Voyagers, and the Chines line of Spydercos.
For low end prices, a good idea is to look into carbon steel. You can get a Case sodbuster in CV steel, made in USA for pretty cheap nowadays. I think $25 to $35?
Do you know of any company that makes a folding knife with a full hand grip but only a 1 to 2.5 inch blade? kind of like the Ontario Knives OKC Nona Knife but a folder. Any help would be appreciated.
I've been ripped off three times over this knife by the the official US destributor, Sinclair itself and Optics Planet. Frankly, I think they MAYBE produced 100 of these things and that was it. I just wanted it for a fun thing to play with, but all three companies never responded to multiple inquiries about my order. How the hell you got one blows my mind.
Hey man no idea if you’ll ever see this but I watched this review as a kid I am now 19 and have dreamed of this knife for years and have never been able to find it due to it being discountinued now I know it’s been years and I’m sure it’s a long shot but I have to ask if you still have it and if there’s any way I could purchase it off you like I said i don’t know if you’ll ever see this but thanks anyways!
for 90 dollars that shit better be made of solid gold
Jeremy Connell gold is soft thou
+Wen Jenq Chen they shld make da edge diamond, then you could cut anything
In Serbia that knife cost 5 dollars,I bought black knife today.
+Cat God this isn't minecraft
Idk about minecraft I built a cat house on that once but got pretty bored pretty quick, Diamond is supposed to be one of the hardest/sharpest natural materials on earth tho

65$? hell no.
***** yeah the peopel who will buy these are the ones who have the plastic version and just really want the metal version, people complain about $500 knives I guess $65 is not much right, lol
cutlerylover
You'll be able to get the 2015 version of Cold Steel's Mini Pendelton Hunter (In CPM3V! ! !) for around the same price.
***** I just got a Spyderco Emerson Delica for that price... lol
John Doe
Such a good knife, lol. I don't even see the point to this CardSharp tbh.
John Doe Exactly, i was just about to say that. A spyderco delica or endura for $60.
I prefered the plastic one becuse its less complicated to use
Actually I'm a packing expert and just watch your video to see how people package stuff so......
agree jeff, a fair rrp would be $29.99
maybe because its not in mass production yet, recouping costs due to r&d etc.
notice there going away from (non metal) material because of security.

I'll be posting my review/comparison sometime soon but I agree with you Jeff. They should make the plastic version with the new locking mechanism.
It cuts better than my 3d printed knife :)
At the rate that 3D printing and printable materials are advancing, you'll be printing out some S30V blades in no time lol
solesearched
haha
It cuts better than a tennis ball, too. But a tennis ball is cheaper.
Woah. Its been 4 years since they became available. It now selling for 20cents here each in asia haha
I was really excited when we saw the sneak preview on this because I think they really are a good idea as a back up. But the price increase is just ridiculous! Problem is, if they upgrade the blade steel, the price will just keep rising.

I bought a Spydercard 15 years ago when they were still in production. Almost never gets used but it's nice to always have a spare knife.

I literally just bought the old one for $1.70 on ebay 2 hours ago
And it's basically a useless piece of trash. The 4.0 version is a very well built credit card knife.
I have the Card Sharp 2s.. just have them as a wallet carry back-up cutting tool. Not my EDC (for use). In an emergency... I have a new knife, sharp and ready to use. That is all.
My card sharp 2 is actually really secure you really have to push the pins so that they go all the way through and then it is nice and stiff...

Use back of coffee mug to sharpen its works good for the metal for its soft
I got the original one and it finally broke after 1.5 Years, (it still kinda works but it doesn't hold alot of preassure. / The Blade rotates)
this is mich better than my Version 2, however I don't feel like spending 65 bucks on the Version 4 tho
65 without any upgrade on steel? i didn't expect some kinda super steel on a card knife but for that price, they could've done some upgrades.

It's more so just to have a extra in your wallet for if in a pinch..I keep one in my wallet and it's came in use a bunch of times while out n about
I can't say about x10, but those are some serious improvements.

the new one looks much better and i agree that the price point should be adjusted, is the new locking mechanism plastic or rubber?
new looks like shit
nah
65 is a tad steep... Maybe cut some prices and make a "mid level" between the two at like $20
I purchased one and had it for 4 days and opened and closed it maybe 10 times only to have one of pieces of handle completely serperate making the knife unsuable. I emailed them and they sent me a replacement only to have the blade joint separate making it once again unusable. I'm over this.

Yes
Would they consider making one for a long wallet with more added features and security
I have to agree. $20.00 maybe. Thanks for reviewing it.
Damn that's ridiculous I was looking forward to getting it but you're right they should lower the price
For $60 you can buy a good EDC blade like the Spyderco Delica.
Steel version on ebay for $2.19 total shipped to your door.
Fake 100%
+TheBuzzlin its real
+Ammo Man I'm sure it is but with this knife I don't think it matters much.
I have one coming in soon and I'll post my thoughts about it here.
for that price you can get a spyderco dogtag in s30v...
Great review, very useful, thanks for putting it together.
Hook that SOB up to the Edge Pro/Wicked Edge lol. cutlerylover
y where they discontinued?
Or you could go on amazon
Change your fire alarm batteries great video!
lol its not even in use, its the spare in the utility room I will eventually take the battery out though I can understand it can be distracting for some
What is the estimated shipping time from the UK to the US if you buy directly from the company?
Cutlerylover I love your videos but I have a question, witch knife should I get between the case copperlock and the case mako for every day carry? Btw I like traditional knives and if you have other knives to recommend then just tell me.
Mako, IMO for EDC the locking blade is nice...
Hoping to pick this up soon but in the black metal version 💳🔪
I just bought 10 of the original for $25nzd delivered to give as gifts
ebay has a package of 10 of them on sale for $7.69
1 $ USD in INDONESIA now....
Chek it.......

You just bought it for a buck?
Damn, that's pretty cheap for a tool like that
cutlerylover Do you have any recommendations for the knives that open when they're taken out of a pocket? I know some Kershaws do. Just looking for a decently (under 50) priced knife. Thank you
I purchased the old one for ! INR 100 =
$ 1.5 in India! 🔥💯
i purchased one 7 months ago it never came and i did not get a refund and they will not respond to emails ridiculous
420 is a bad rating? so what would be a good one?
i can find it on aliexpress, I dont want original I want copy how to find it? Name of that thing
At that price point, there are a LOT of really nice knives available.
Many companies make a functional credit card knife. but this... is not.
what is the best quality for low price knife out there? as far as holding an edge and ease of sharpening?
You would really need to put out a specific price. There is a lot of difference for what can be found for $30 and $40. Also what purpose you are looking to use it for is important to.
Generally for lower cost knives I suggest you look at Kershaw ($20 and up recommended), the Cold Steel Voyagers, and the Chines line of Spydercos.
Best low price brand out there: MORA knives (made in Sweden)
For low end prices, a good idea is to look into carbon steel. You can get a Case sodbuster in CV steel, made in USA for pretty cheap nowadays. I think $25 to $35?
Do you know of any company that makes a folding knife with a full hand grip but only a 1 to 2.5 inch blade? kind of like the Ontario Knives OKC Nona Knife but a folder. Any help would be appreciated.
Good time of the year to change out all batteries in smoke detectors. Be safe!
change your smoke detector battery jeff!
Hey man no idea if you’ll ever see this but I watched this review as a kid I am now 19 and have dreamed of this knife for years and have never been able to find it due to it being discountinued now I know it’s been years and I’m sure it’s a long shot but I have to ask if you still have it and if there’s any way I could purchase it off you like I said i don’t know if you’ll ever see this but thanks anyways!
where i can find this knife ... the aluminum version !!? help
In the case of an emergency, the amount of time it would take to get this out and open it is way too long.
this knife is discontinued so oh well do a review on the card sharp 3
I got mine for 1$ from my friend but its an older version.
Would you recommend a cut it card ??
