Indeed, Georgia (especially this part of it) is known worldwide for its huge abundance of ridiculously extensive cavern systems. Some of the longest caves in the world, largest ballrooms, and highest domes are there. It all has to do with the bedrock geology, wherever you get country rock that is easily dissolved with water, you end up with this sort of thing. Where it’s limestone-based, it’s called “karst.” And yes, one of the more common things to find in old mines and caves is long-dead critters…. Sadly, even more commonly than un-stolen mining artifacts or intact and geologically notable cave features. Fortunately, though, finding a dead human is MUCH more rare. Usually either those are found and removed pretty quickly, or they’re unrecoverable and are never returned to the surface. Only very rarely does someone just stumble across a human corpse, which is certainly a very good thing.
Thats just insane to know you're gonna be one of the first people ever exploring something like this. I can imagine it's a little emotional even let alone the thrill.
Now with all the poverty we have. Here's so much room on earth. Then the sad thing is walking in those woods at night not even knowing that hole is there. And how many abandon parks and areas that have tunnels no one knows about. Scary. Farm land with open holes that's like Alice's wonder hole from the void or the movie 300 this is SPARTA

You're right, it can be very dangerous, especially during hot monthes where the cold air is trapped in the hole and very few outside air come in. During winter, the outside air usually ventilates large cavities like this one quite well. It's even worse if there are biological wastes like in this case (dead leaves, animal carcasses etc), CO2 can be produced in large quantity and since it's heavier than air it can form a "pool" at the bottom. If you enter this pool, you could pass out and die in a few minutes without realizing it.
Also bringing some high visibility string and stringing it throughout the cave as they discover would probably be a good idea. You can unstring it as you come back, but cave formations can look a lot alike eachother and you can find yourself lost quite easily.
@thescratchychannel you obviously don't know much about caving! It's very uncommon to "GET LOST" in a cave. There are a few other dangers far more worth thinking about when doing this
This cave is a cave definitely worth revisiting. It is a shame to see so many skeletons of animals who have long since passed away due to having gotten trapped down there. At least with small animals like that frog and the snake is that... They'll probably be lucky enough to continue living for awhile longer off of any bugs that wind up falling down too. Either way, the snek was adorable to see.
That frog could climb out no problem but that ring neck snake was most likely trapped unless there was another way out. They're not very good climbers.
Those small animals and insects aren't just falling down there, that's where they live. All that leaf litter and detritus is filled with insects. It may not be an ecosystem that most people are familiar with but it's an ecosystem like any other.
I've often had dreams where I have had a large water leak that has gone unnoticed for a long time to form something like this on my property. Sometimes a cave, other times an underground river that finally collapsed the ground over the top of it. That and another popular one is finding an old room that was sealed off behind a false wall or a guesthouse that I either used to use or had forgotten about. My favorite was finding the giant industrial basement that was at least ten stories deep completely lined with concrete. Steel ladders, concrete steps, the works. I bet I'll have a dream like that tonight.

If going down 200+ feet into a cave wasnt sketchy enough you guys are now thinking hey I can dig under this rock and maybe climb under this collapsed tunnel...
@@Shawn-yp9ic It could be a lot of work though, depending on how much dirt needs to be removed. I’d think if it requires days of work with shovels you’d need to pull the dirt up so it doesn’t wash right back into the hole you’re digging when it rains. You also might want to adjust the descent route to prevent excessive foot traffic over the pretty flowstone.
@@marshallsweatherhiking1820 I'm not knowledgeable or experienced in dirt digging but I would hope to avoid pulling all that dirt up and out if I could. That was a long way up from the pit. Maybe if it was done right and you waited for a real heavy rain you could get the dirt to wash down and out with out plugging it up again, remove hand size and larger rocks. Also before completely excavating it to man size hole I'd consider digging it out enough to work a camera into the passage and try to determine if whatever opening that might be there is one that can be made big enough for a person from dirt removal. It may be that the rock passage has a constriction that is too small for an adult to get through and Id want to know that before digging too far. But I agree, could be a massive cave that opens up just beyond the mud clog. Worth checking.
Look up the local "grotto" (local chapter) of the NSS: national speleology society. Cave locations and maps tend to be semi-secret but if you get some training and meet the local people you can start getting shown locations.
Lots of caves in my area of Kentucky. Me and a local caver dug out a small opening to find a small cavern....but there is very large caverns within a mile or less of here, and I think its mostly unexplored.
I enjoy watching your videos so much. It takes me to places I always wanted to explore. But I'm too afraid 😂. Thank you for the Adventures you guys do👍
Its crazy that even so deep down, you have multiple species of animals surviving. Getting energy from the one beam of light that reaches down there, and the occasional bit of organic matter that falls down. It shows how persistent life is, filling any gap that it finds.
Not a cave. That is definitely an old well carved out of the rock where the person who dug it met an aquifer (Thus filling their well) and that aquifer is no longer in existence or dry for the summer.
In my parts of Virginia the karst ground leads to numerous sinkholes that get progressively bigger over time… I know of multiple farmers who have been filling the holes for years and they consume the fillers and the holes are 20-30 feet across. I actually have 2 cave openings on my property, 1 was filled and the other is closing off over time… I would love to see what is below. Rumor has it the exposed limestone that can be seen all around shows where the possible passageway leads.

Talking Rocks Cave tour is really good. Also the shopping is lots of geode and nice Rocks and some crafts made from rock. Use to be fairy cave in the 1930's. Branson West Missouri.
Whole video I’m chillin till you start jamming the camera into cracks trying to dig into them, that’s when my watch starts warning me about my heart rate
Bless you all for doing something I would NEVER do, (and filming it for us) even when I was young, dumb and full of....well "need for thrill' But we did climb the Hollywood sign on mushrooms back in 1987, that was crazy. 4 story letters on a 60%+ grade, made it seem like you were up 10 stories, swaying back on forth, ON MUSHROOMS!!...those were the days!
If going down 200+ feet into a cave wasnt sketchy enough you guys are now thinking hey I can dig under this rock and maybe climb under this collapsed tunnel...
We are definitely going to try one of these days! Hope it leads to a giant cavern back there!
Do you guys have an Inaturalist account? All these species you see in caves could very well be their own subspecies adapted to local conditions.
Sweet little exploration, I really wonder if digging there might lead to a whole new, unexplored part of the cave! 😆
it has to go somewhere since its not full of water
@@marshallsweatherhiking1820 ok
Dope frog chilling down there I'd love to imagine he often swims in the crystal clear pool hes got in there
I want to get into this so damn bad! But from everything I see public access caves are basically non-existant, sad to see!. Love the content!
Look up the local "grotto" (local chapter) of the NSS: national speleology society. Cave locations and maps tend to be semi-secret but if you get some training and meet the local people you can start getting shown locations.
appreciate the insight sir!@@moldovancrisis5482
Definitely need to go back. See what other formations are down there!
Ooh first like.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
That’s no cave. That’s the neighbors wife
Snarf snarf 😂
Damnnnn!! Lmao!!!
Thank you for the Adventures you guys do👍
Bro you are amazing! I enjoy watching these videos cause I know I can’t do what you do 🎉
Excellent pit bounce!
Dude I wish I owned land with a cave like this. It would be epic.
Install some permanent ladders. Lighting. Freaking awesome
Great video Thanks guys❤
This new caves and cliffs update looks awesome
Its crazy that even so deep down, you have multiple species of animals surviving. Getting energy from the one beam of light that reaches down there, and the occasional bit of organic matter that falls down.
It shows how persistent life is, filling any gap that it finds.
The minecraft caves and cliffs update goes crazy
4:19 I thought that was someone lying on the ledge wearing combat fatigues! Very cool! I must say you guys are completely NUTS btw.
Not a cave. That is definitely an old well carved out of the rock where the person who dug it met an aquifer (Thus filling their well) and that aquifer is no longer in existence or dry for the summer.
If everything is a dig out, that is a very good sign, no one has been there. Awesome!
