I still can't understand why all that fuss about weapons. A lethal weapon is meant to kill and not to defend. For me this is just alien. The risk clearly outpaces the benefit of having everyone having one. But yeah these are the states, it's another planet...Anyway the NRA spokesman follows the PR textbook, finding the gaps and trying to focus on very specific issues, put the focus these (like gun bumps - those shouldn't have come in the market in the first place) and not on the core issue that really is at stake. Too many people have access to weapons and it's now just a matter of probability when the next shooting will take place.

First of all, I am mad. I am mad that after all of these mass shootings in a country that is supposed to represent the bastion of what is right regarding mankind, nothing has been done. I am a big believer in government, because without it we would have anarchy. But regarding our protracted problems with guns, it is because our politicians are either spineless, ignorant or perhaps both. Before I go on, I am making this statement: A common denominator in Sandy Hook, Parkland, Buffalo, Uvalde and many more has been an offensive weapon of war. Enough is enough. Anybody who has advocated and continues to advocate for, or who has one of these weapons because of our stupid misguided policies, you are complicit in every death and will continue to be in the next mass shooting. If you have an ounce of decency, you should be more than willing to surrender your weapon(s) of war. People are justifiably saying that the cops in Uvalde should have been willing to sacrifice their lives in order to save the kids. Many of them were afraid to go against the fire power of the shooter. Their reticence to confront the shooter in a timely manner cost lives. Lawmakers' reticence to act because of their misguided interpretation of the 2nd amendment's abstract meaning have cost lives. If a person owns one of these guns and if he/she is a decent person, he/she should be more than willing to sacrifice this weapon of war. If a cop should have been willing to possibly sacrifice his life even though he was afraid of the fire power of an assault weapon, anybody who owns one of these guns should be willing to sacrifice the gun that you are able to own because of our feckless politicians. Guess what no mass shooting in the United State killed as many people as a Rental Truck did in France! Assault weapons are a political term invented in the 1980s to define features of a gun. Since real automatic weapons were already banned in 1986. Yes I do oppose a ban on AR15 because they have saved far more lives than they have taken. They are the weapon of choice for women, elderly and handicapped in this country due to their ease of use and low recoil. They cannot handle the recoil of a shotgun or pistol. All rifles do not account for more than 3% of gun deaths in the country as stated by the FBI in 2016. Over 80% of homicides are done with handguns so at this point either you need to ban handguns (which not even the left wants to do because of their self protection purpose) or find an alternative as banning anything will fix absolutely nothing.

@T spencer isn’t it ironic that all of the methods you listed of other ways to kill people are all regulated by law? bombs (hard to regulate because some can me made with household items) are illegal and there are systems in place where the police are notified if a person purchases a significant amount of a certain ingredient. vehicles require a licence to be driven which includes vision testing, reflex testing, written tests and road tests before you can legally drive alone (at least where im from). Poison is HIGHLY regulated to the extent possible (ex poison by a large amount of a household item is hard to regulate), and has similar systems in place to bombs where either you aren’t able to purchase the ingredient at all unless you are some sort of scientist, or you can purchase it but get put in a system or the feds are notified if a significant amount is purchased. Isn’t it funny how the methods you listed all have some from of regulation? I never said “guns MAKE people kill”, I said guns are a catalyst that allows a person who WANTS to kill to have a quick and efficient method of killing as many people in the shortest time as possible. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t really understand a lot of what you’re saying towards the end because of grammar, but I think I made my point. There’s a clear trend in the history of mass shootings that show a significant increase in injuries and casualties when the weapon was a semi (usually rifle). It’s a statistical fact that semiautomatic weapons have historically allowed a mass shooter to kill significantly more people. I get that “he chose” to do it, but also know that “he chose” that specific weapon for a reason; to allow him to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time. It’s a lot of statistical fact with a little common sense, I hope one day you figure out how to comprehend either.

I still can't understand why all that fuss about weapons. A lethal weapon is meant to kill and not to defend. For me this is just alien. The risk clearly outpaces the benefit of having everyone having one. But yeah these are the states, it's another planet...Anyway the NRA spokesman follows the PR textbook, finding the gaps and trying to focus on very specific issues, put the focus these (like gun bumps - those shouldn't have come in the market in the first place) and not on the core issue that really is at stake. Too many people have access to weapons and it's now just a matter of probability when the next shooting will take place.

First of all, I am mad. I am mad that after all of these mass shootings in a country that is supposed to represent the bastion of what is right
regarding mankind, nothing has been done. I am a big believer in government, because without it we would have anarchy.
But regarding our protracted problems with guns, it is because our politicians are either spineless, ignorant or perhaps both.
Before I go on, I am making this statement: A common denominator in Sandy Hook, Parkland, Buffalo, Uvalde and many more has been
an offensive weapon of war. Enough is enough. Anybody who has advocated and continues to advocate for, or who has one of these weapons because of our stupid
misguided policies, you are complicit in every death and will continue to be in the next mass shooting. If you have an ounce of decency, you should be more than willing to surrender your weapon(s) of war.
People are justifiably saying that the cops in Uvalde should have been willing to sacrifice their lives in order to save the kids. Many of them were afraid to go
against the fire power of the shooter. Their reticence to confront the shooter in a timely manner cost lives. Lawmakers' reticence to act because of their
misguided interpretation of the 2nd amendment's abstract meaning have cost lives. If a person owns one of these guns and if he/she is a decent person,

Since real automatic weapons were already banned in 1986. Yes I do oppose a ban on AR15 because they have saved far more lives than they have taken. They are the weapon of choice for women, elderly and handicapped in this country due to their ease of use and low recoil. They cannot handle the recoil of a shotgun or pistol. All rifles do not account for more than 3% of gun deaths in the country as stated by the FBI in 2016. Over 80% of homicides are done with handguns so at this point either you need to ban handguns (which not even the left wants to do because of their self protection purpose) or find an alternative as banning anything will fix absolutely nothing.

@T spencer isn’t it ironic that all of the methods you listed of other ways to kill people are all regulated by law? bombs (hard to regulate because some can me made with household items) are illegal and there are systems in place where the police are notified if a person purchases a significant amount of a certain ingredient. vehicles require a licence to be driven which includes vision testing, reflex testing, written tests and road tests before you can legally drive alone (at least where im from). Poison is HIGHLY regulated to the extent possible (ex poison by a large amount of a household item is hard to regulate), and has similar systems in place to bombs where either you aren’t able to purchase the ingredient at all unless you are some sort of scientist, or you can purchase it but get put in a system or the feds are notified if a significant amount is purchased. Isn’t it funny how the methods you listed all have some from of regulation? I never said “guns MAKE people kill”, I said guns are a catalyst that allows a person who WANTS to kill to have a quick and efficient method of killing as many people in the shortest time as possible. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t really understand a lot of what you’re saying towards the end because of grammar, but I think I made my point. There’s a clear trend in the history of mass shootings that show a significant increase in injuries and casualties when the weapon was a semi (usually rifle). It’s a statistical fact that semiautomatic weapons have historically allowed a mass shooter to kill significantly more people. I get that “he chose” to do it, but also know that “he chose” that specific weapon for a reason; to allow him to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time. It’s a lot of statistical fact with a little common sense, I hope one day you figure out how to comprehend either.

Yeah but she started off with a totally inflammatory lead-in i.e., 'that the media loves mass shootings'. Definitely not in the spirit of reaching a mutual agreement or solution. It was very distasteful to me and made me not at all interested in hearing what she had to say after that. 😠
if the media didn't like the ratings why didn't we hear about all the other gun deaths across the country? Why only mass shooting victims that compromise less than 2 percent of all gun deaths? Why not cover all the gun deaths in the 6 major cities responsible for making this country one of the countries with the highest gun deaths?

You want to know why you aren’t seeing any conservative students on CNN? I promise they are out there, I am one of them. Because they don’t fit the script/narrative that CNN is pushing. CNN isn’t neutral. CNN is as opinionated as Fox News and they claim to be true journalists, and if you can’t see that than you are just blind.

But I wasn't speaking on either network as a whole, but on this specific broadcast. I found her to be spouting biased, inflammatory statements.

CNN rigged the town hall and even re-wrote some of the students questions. This is fake news at its worst. I can admit Fox News is biased.
