It's interesting, but watching the live action it almost seems like they are pushing Nami and Zoro closer together . It could be that Zoro was the least trusting of her and needed more interactions become friends since Luffy just accepts everyone

      @rhuanv 8 місяців тому +6

@@Shanosukethere are some comments that Oda, the creator, had to very firmly stop the live action developing romances or to let it be too ambiguous. He was adamant about the crew having no involvement with each other, in no way shape or form other than friendship. But yeah, it appears as the show tried a bit and even left some doors open. Just to show us how difficult it is to work with Hollywood.

Zoro, Nami and Usopp all had money.
    Zoro - bounty Hunter
Nami - master thief(literally see her give money to get the table)

Only Luffy had no money, but he ordered 1 of everything on the menu.

      Yeah I love the show
      But I find Luffy?
      Sometimes he's loyal and fantastic
Other times so arrogant he reminds me of western boss girls...
Yet he has personality unlike those girls
He doesn't have much room for growth like those boss girls
      So it makes me think...
Can they keep up the quality for long?
      I'm not sure they can
      Bit I hope they can...
Because season 1 is very fun, very entertaining

The live action captures the spirit of One Piece perfectly, this production has such a high respect for the creator Eiichiro Oda they won't put any scene in unless he approves of it. There are some changes so it's like a revamped retelling.
The stuff they changed or left out from the anime are worth seeing, and doubly so the manga is definitively the creator's vision but he's been supporting both adaptations all the way through.

Though I think you missed what Mihawk said to Zoro-- this isn't a spoiler as he said it in this episode: "It's too soon for you to die. Grow stronger and come find me." You should absolutely watch the anime from start to finish. The live action adaptation is *significantly* different in many details and events, but captures the vital spirit of the characters and locations it depicts. It's a really remarkable adaptation in that way; even people like me who have read the manga start to finish multiple times cannot necessarily predict everything that happened in the live action version. If nothing else, the exercise in contrast is interesting.

The creator of the original series had to dictate that there will be NO romance between crew members: they're a family and nothing romantic will ever happen between them.
Mackenyu and Emily Rudd DO have incredible chemistry, but no, they won't ever have any partners on the crew. There will be some more hints at potential 'after-the-adventure' pairings for various crew members as the series goes on with other side characters, but thus far there's pretty much 0 focus on romance in the series, even after 1000 chapters.

i watched the anime from start to the latest episode, then i continued to the manga. i believe you should start at one piece anime's first episode. the length is part of the journey, and it's a journey you'd want to experience again after some point so don't rush into it.
i'm not sure if you can manage to not watch more than what is covered in the live action bcs honestly, it gets so gripping around that point. but if you can stop there and wait for the season 2 of live action, that's okay too since i think it's *your* journey with the crew and we're really just reliving ours vicariously through you.

Hey Monica! A little helpful info!
Season 1 of the Live Action covers the first 45 or so episodes of the anime. I would definitely recommend continuing past that mark so your hype for the Live Action is even greater. How will they do this? How could they adapt that? As a fan past 1,012 episodes, it's my favorite question to ask right now.
This first season deviates greatly from the anime and manga in terms of plot and cause and effect. But it is about 70 to 80% accurate to the source material.

WHAT I WILL SAY SPOILER FREE, is that the live show follows the manga. NOT, the anime. This may not seem like a big deal, but from what I have come to understand, the anime was heavily censored or changed to be less violent, than the original manga. Episode 6, has a very specific detail that reflects the story as it originally was in the manga, not the anime. From what I understand, the anime follows the Dragon Ball Z format, which is to say that the live show covers what is known as "Romance Dawn". A title given to the first 100 EPISODES OF THE ANIME !!! Like DBZ, the anime drawls out a lot of things. It ALSO, includes a lot of things that the live show didn't have time for. In some cases, the live show has already included things, (Like Garp is Luffy's Grandfather). That almost don't appear in the first 100 + episodes at all. But the way it was done HERE, kind of flies better than it might have been in the anime. There are changes. But I can proudly say that most of them were for practicality, NOT, simply to be woke or change the primary story. So if you decide to watch the anime, perhaps just watch specific episodes? I know the first encounter with Buggy was much longer. The guy throwing knives at Zoro in Ep. 2, was originally riding a unicycle, and it was a whole battle scene. Similarly, Don Crieg, actually had a much larger scene in the events at Bratea. So maybe just watch those episodes so that you can get a more in depth look at specific events?

The live action is good as it is, loved it so much. It is not accurate, it's more worth it to watch the anime from the beginning. Btw, the anime is the first 45 episodes in the anime. Please, make sure to pause what you are watching when you are talking to the camera or looking away. One Piece is very intentional, everything is important.

    Ciao Monica :)
Anime and Manga have quite some differences from live action, which is sort of a condensed version: First of all, the Garp/Koby storylines happen in a longer range and even the granpa reveal takes place later (around chapter 380 in the manga!), here it's functional to introduce better the Marines and the theme that good and evil are not exclusive to a faction. All the arcs are longer and more articulated in the originals and about the Baratie the former villain Is the one who Mihawk defeat during his introduction (which Is also the captain of the starved pirate Sanji feeds... As i have said: longer stories in the originals) . Of course there are also other differences buy those are the main ones to the time you watched ;)

When Luffy told Zeff about Sanji feeding Ghin, he said "He did that? What a good kid!"
Not sure if you missed that since you edited in the reaction of yourself saying "oh no he's telling zeff" but there was nothing in the edit about it afterwards.

The LA is a great starting point if you want to jump into the anime and I do think it is enough to skip most of what it covers as for what is missing up to the baratie is just a little more time into general motivations. At most I say to watch anime Mihawk and Zoro fight on youtube
That would put you to start at episode 30 and the arc covered by the last two episodes of the LA. But I think there is enough change that it is worth to watch both versions.
With that said watching everything is fine as well, I also reccommend "One Pace" which is a fan made edit of episodes taking out filler and reducing time panderig (something that do become a problem later on but not relevant in the part covered by the LA).
    For differences:
Garp and Coby arent really part of the anime at this point but we see Garping recruiting Coby soon after it, the reunion and Garp revelation is way later in the anime. Usopp had 3 kids following him. Buggy was a lion on the crew, he is funny. Don Krieg was defeated by Luffy after running from Mihawk.
Now the setup for the next arc is very different so minor spoilers for episode 6 below:
In the anime nami steals the ship to go home, zoro usopp and another character go after them, Luffy and Sanji go later after the fight. The other character is part of a duo of bounty hunters that are Zoro's friends and help the crew out. Arlong dont really appear until the next arc and Buggy takes a little longer to return in the anime

So I think the live action really did well overall.
If you want to watch the anime, but still want to keep the live action fresh. I’d say watch only to the same end beat or arc that the live action does. Otherwise… if you would like to see the live action with an understanding of what’s already happened and just to see how they would change it from the anime, I would suggest watching it segmented in the big story arcs. Without context or spoilers, here are the arcs that I think the live action will take for its route: East Blue (season 1), Alabasta (season 2), Skypiea (season 3)…
This is all I can think of for now. Beyond those arcs I feel like the live action would severely consider mini in between arcs because they’d be cutting out way too much if they only grab the bigger segmented sections. Season 1 alone already took out a lot. Even tho I am satisfied with which parts they kept, some fun segments and iconic quotes/lines were amiss.
In my opinion. Keeping a fresh take on the live action by only seeing the anime up to the live action points in the story would be best option for content-wise.
Funny enough I got my friend to start the anime because of this adaptation. 😊 He’s almost done with the East Blue arc.

Something to keep in mind the creator, Eiichiro Oda, has stated that nobody on the crew will fall in love with one another. It was even recently revealed that one of the requirements the Live Action had to follow was that same rule as well
They definitely have chemistry, but keep in mind that none of them will be together.

Usopp isn't a liar. He's a storyteller that just embellishes his stories a bit.

This show takes 8 episodes to cover most of the east blue saga, up to and including the arlong park arc, a total of 44 episodes of anime. If you want to avoid spoilers for season 2 of the live action, you should stop at episode 44 and avoid going on to the loguetown arc. Imo it's worth watching the anime, there's a lot more context in it for the characters and their motivations and back stories, since they have more time to play with.
