8w7 here, the comment about "being in a theme park... Waking up everyday to get a thrill". This is spot on. I consider life as 'game' and I intend to not only be the best player but experience all the fun of the game.
actually laughed out loud within the first 4 minutes at your story about driving your 8 friend because my mom would get so much relief hearing its not just her
Thank you Jennifer. People are often scared of me and I don't want people to be scared of me. Knowing that the intensity can be almost frightening to some people is a big eye opener. 8w7 here. I enjoyed watching your video.
I think 8's usually tend to make their life mission to help others, regardless of wing. It gives us the most joy out of anything else. Definitely don't have repressed feelings either, they're just so extreme we have to hold them till we get home
Im a 8w7 and I wake up and truely enjoy life and have fun but I can chill out. Im not always going crazy for new fun things or anything like that but I look foward to things that could bring me joy. I think Im almost a perfect balanced between and 8 and 7 I can be shy though when around a ton of people (especially girls)
I'm an 8w7 and I can honestly say that the biggest complaint I get is that my energy controls whatever place I'm occupying, of course I've been pretty shocked at that as Ive never done anything like this on purpose and had no idea that I was even doing it. People tend to shy away from me even when I'm being at my best, although they also want to know me at the same time.
Imagine how shocked I was when I talked to an old college friend of mine who said she was intimidated by me. “Intimidated? What?” I always felt like other people didn’t like me much because they didn’t really talk to me…I’d talk to people and get blank stares, and generally felt ostracized. My old friend from college said that everyone was afraid of me. So I asked, “was I mean to people? I don’t understanding.” “No, no…you just have this intimidating energy about you.” Well, I was dumbfounded, and I felt really bad. But I’ve come to find out that it’s not entirely my fault. My wife says that people who are scared of me simply aren’t secure in themselves. I figure many of you hear have dealt with similar issues.
8/7 here. Very nice rundown and pretty accurate as well. Perhaps a bit more emphasis on the fact that many of the examples you use are portraying unhealthy 8s with little to know self-insight/consciousness.
Hey 8w9 here really liked your video. The perspective of going into a room and claiming your own space is something i realized i kind of unconsciously did haha but i never thought about it in that way. I appreciated your perspective on that as well as the other aspects of the 8w9 you pointed out :).
"Life is a strategic game that needs to be thought and planned out." That resonated very much with me. I am an 8w7..but i suppose i pull from the 9 wing as well.
This vid was very helpful- I’m an 8w7 but found a lot of help from leaning on my 9 wing, seeing as what’s the best method right now to proceed, rather than brute forcing it
It has never been clearer till now. omg I took a quizz and ended up with 8/7 and it makes so much sense. Everything makes sense, my actions...blown away.
In regards to feelings, i think it's the opposite. We feel so intensely that we know we can't use them to make our decisions and also can't show them to others because they can not relate to the extremity. Also not surprised your supervisor wants to make sure everyone is included because part of what makes an 8 persona is a lifelong feeling of loneliness and not being fully understood so we go out of our way to make sure everyone feels accepted. Like it would be a physically gutting feeling to think someone felt picked on or left out because of me. We're the champions of the underdog
8w9/INTJ, I always come into a room and assess the individuals in it including (possible) relations, personalities, etc. How can I deal with them if I have to? That sort of thing. I just do it naturally, without realizing. Not that I want to actually interact, I keep to myself and watch. But, I have had people close to me saying I am very defensive of my personal space and personal time. Individuals I have trained were often afraid to ask me questions because they felt as though they were 'bothering'me, which wasn't the issue at all. I plan what I can out to the best of my ability, I want as much control as possible, I don't want failure. If something doesn't work, I will stop and reassess and attack the issue later after thinking about it. Or, become severely frustrated in the process.
8w9 Life is a strategic game plan. Doesn’t take as much energy real estate. Wing 9 better at appeasing people. Works with routine, mundane life. Appears interpersonally warmer. Calmer.
the strategic type between the two is not 8w9, it's 8w7 7 is not only about gluttony, especially if it's a wing, it's used for planning and rationalization
Good point. I can see how that would be case as well. 8 by itself is a very strategic type so I imagine that it will lend that to either wing, although it would be expressed in different ways.
Thank you for this! My husband is an 8, probably with 9w. I would be happy to have some directions into how to best deal with his energy, which is a looooot, especially when negative! How could I help him become aware of this? Cause he denies and refuses to accept that he has any problem...Thank you!!!
Yes. Many studies have shown this. Based on the studies that I've read and my own observations, interactions, and experiences, type 8 in general tends to be seen most with Myers-Briggs types: ESTJ, ESTP, ISTP, ENFJ, ENTJ, INTJ.
Hmmm. Do think cognitive functions affect who is more likely to be 8w7 or 8w9? Those who use Se for example, NTJ and STP more likely to fall under one wing, or ENFJ and ESTJ who use Si, would fall under another?
I have not yet taken the Enneagram test however guess I am an 8 with a 7 wing and when you said 8s more work off of thinking and doing and have suppressed feeling it sprang back to my mind that I'm ENTP which is 99% thinking 1% feeling.
Hi I have been studying enneagram and mbti for a while, and I know that I am definitely an 8w9 but I test mbti as an ISFJ (the guardian) which I kind of identify with but is much 'softer' than I think I am the other type I've identified/tested with is INFJ... but I feel so confused they seem too different... could you shed any light on this for me? I would say that I am a much warmer 8 than is typical though. (31 year old female) Thanks!!
Totally understand where you're coming from. I know a handful of people who fit in this category. First of all, being 8w9 is going to be a softer 8 than 8w7. Especially if you're a female I would think. I've known a handful of females 8w9 types and it was not apparent that they were type 8 at all right off the bat. Aaaaaand, being a Feeling Myers-Briggs type 8 makes it even more confusing. If it helps any, the 8w9 individuals that I have known (even the males ones) have either been ENFJ or INFJ. That doesn't mean that you can't be ISFJ, I'm just giving you what I have noticed to be largely true. Do you identify as an introvert more so than an extrovert?
As an 8, ive noticed, is being able to extrude my energy (usually anger) into the room and people can feel it. Even if im silent or dont show my anger, most people can pick up on the energy.
Hi Jennifer, I really enjoy your videos and the helpful information that you give. I'm a type 8w7 but also an INFP. Is this a very rare MBTI type and enneagram combination? I have also had 2w1 results.
It is quite rare indeed. I have known 8w7 ENFJ and an 8w9 INFJ, but never 8w7 INFP. It doesn't surprise me though that you would test as 2. Which you feel you identify more with? 8 or 2?
That's an interesting question, I identify with both... 2w1when I'm in a safe, secure, happy and trusting environment. 8w7 when I'm angry, frustrated, threatened, dealing with injustice or stressed. Unfortunately, over the past few years its been mostly like 8w7 but constantly restricted inside of a straight jacket. Is 8w7 normal or common most in ENTJ's?
8w7 is more common with ENTJs. I also see 8w7 with Enneagram type 3 a lot. What would you say is your deepest rooted fear: the fear of not being loved, or the fear of being emotionally taken advantage of?
I actually do consider myself very independent, but I am married to a seven. As an 8W9 I have happily become dependent on him. I am still strong, self motivated, get things done, energy is my middle name, but there’s not a competition for “headship “in my home. I am happy to allow my husband to lead us. If I had to be independent I would be, but since I don’t have to be I am happily not. Does that make sense?
I’ve dated 2 “alpha males” both 8 w 7 and holy shit, you’re not kidding about them being the most intense of the entire enneagram.. I’m a 7 w 8 so I can handle the energy to be quite honest I think that’s all I am able to date because anything other than that would be too boring or dull for me 🤔
Hi Jennifer, Would President Trump likely be an ESTP Enneagram 8 with a 7 wing? Would you have any thoughts regarding Melania's MBTI and Enneagram? Thank You. I enjoy your videos a lot.
8 w 7 here. Has anybody else had the reputation of taking everything too far lol? It’s like I sometimes don’t know when the joke should end, and say something funny but blunt, which makes people laugh into their sleeves but not out loud, ya know? And then I get the old “you really shouldn’t have said that blah blah” which sucks because it’s not genuine. I crave genuineness from everyone I meet. I love people who are as confident in themselves as I am in me. Raise one up to us🍻!! Also, F the 3s
i thought i was 8w7 but now i think i'm more 8w9 actually ; so you were right about what you were saying on strategy and 8w9, it's just that i thought i was 8w7 but no actually (i think ?)
This is one of my most favorite questions in the entire world to answer. The answer is quite simply, that you can marry anyone you want. This is a topic that I have wanted to cover for some time and I have been planning a series on this exact thing. Love the videos. I'm an intj 8w9. My issue is with other people trying to control me, they generally don't try as they know I make my own decisions.
I think 8's usually tend to make their life mission to help others, regardless of wing. It gives us the most joy out of anything else. Definitely don't have repressed feelings either, they're just so extreme we have to hold them till we get home

ENFJ 8w9. Self Preserved subtype. I agreed with your comments on 8w9.
8w9 knows when to quit.
8w7 doesn’t.

THANK YOU. Glad someone else noticed that.
8s with self awareness exist?
Hey 8w9 here really liked your video. It was no problem at all. Its hard find to find good info for 8w9 and I like your unique view of the type

Im an entp with 8w7 basically entj with adhd
I usually test ENT(J/P about 50%) 8w7
You would probably be ENTJ in socionics

8w7 female here!!!! I'm an ESTP, by the way.
Greetings from an 8w7 ESTP male.
We conquer the world in a playful way. :)
Can you just be a core 8? Or do you always have a wing?
Interesting perspective Jennifer. Do you think there are MBTI correlations? Type 8 typically are certain mbti types?
Yes. Many studies have shown this. Based on the studies that I've read and my own observations, interactions, and experiences, type 8 in general tends to be seen most with Myers-Briggs types: ESTJ, ESTP, ISTP, ENFJ, ENTJ, INTJ.

Jennifer Brave am an ENFP w/ a 8w7 , am I broken 😹

Wow! I feel totally shocked at how precise you were describing 8W9! I am so content with the mundane! Lol

thank you, maybe you're right
you're welcome :)
Very good videos.
My wife always types as 8w7 and INTP
Hi, i am 33 years old man type 7w6, wich enneagram type is better for me to marry with?
This is one of my most favorite questions in the entire world to answer. The answer is quite simply, that you can marry anyone you want. Anyone can be the right person for you (in a sense) as long as you are willing to do the work that is required to upkeep a relationship. But with that being said, chemistry does tend to come easier for some types rather than others. This is a topic that I have wanted to cover for some time and I have been planning a series on this exact thing. Because there is a lot of information on this exact topic, I would recommend that you subscribe and keep and eye out for those to come out. It's far too much to put in one comment.
I'm a ISTJ, TYPE 2w3 sx variant. Apparently, I'm compatible with type 8w7 so variant. These 8w7 sound scary.
Lol. Yes, we're very scary unless we have your back. Then your enemies find us scary
I'm an ESTP 8w7 and am married to an ISTJ for 20 years.
Hello my fellow 8w7 folks
FYI - An 8w7 doesnt care to hear about 8w9 or a comparison to any other type.
👍👍
I am entp 7w8
Very heavy on 8w7 info, I'm not hearing much about 8w9 and it's most of the way through the video. 🤷
Dead on.
LOL AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGY 101: what's the problem with everything and everyone?
inaccurate
Elaborate
I think much of the inaccuracy comes from the way americans talk and handle things. I sense a whiff of not being able to respond totally to something.
so firstly about the difference of 7 and 9.
i can just talk about 9 and the way she says it feels like it's miscommunicating someone's essence based on how this lady would react to it. she isn't responding she is reacting if you know what I mean. 9 knows when to quit should not be communicated across as "they will give up eventually/ they will reason with you but with a personal motive and kind of passively let go once they get like condescending" this is what it sounds like to me when she said it but it's not just the case. as a 9, we have a sort of wisdom about it, which is very understandable if you don't try to look at it too logically. think of daily layman wisdom. that sort of behaviour seeps into the way our tolerance is. obviously we won't give up to the last breath if it is the best thing to do, it's not like we will stop after sometime because of some personal code.
but usually the way things are in the world in the routine life is, people do something other than this i.e. they act compulsively. UNDERSTAND! that this sort of behaviour does not step from COMPULSION but actually from the lack of compulsion.
about the car example.
I can see this happening.
and I can see how weak peoples who are always in their own head can see it like that.
the fact of the matter is, we are not like that other person, usually we are not up in our heads. so we feel more comfortable to be firm about what we do and what we say.
and if you can try to understand, look at it this way; the intensity she talks about... maybe she is referring to the kind of intensity that comes because of restlessness and rapid movement and a sort of "being loaded and ready to fire" all the time. but this is a misreading. the intensity actually comes from a "LACK OF FLUCTUATIONSS" as in, the thought process, the the energies, don't have a sort of hesitation or double-mindedness or doubts, it is flowing, and can come off as intense, but that's the good kind of intense. and that's how it should be. the void(no internal irritation or blockages) in them is what is creating the density.
about the store worker she is talking about... don't you get a sense already that she is doing what she is meant to do quite effectively and has all her focus and energies commited towards it and that's how it should be? and this woman who talks about it is actually stepping out of that space and trying to make make elaborations from a space of her own. it's like going to a military camp and comparing it to your home and saying those guys are intense.
"9 can seem to show more involved then they are, 9 can seem to show you have more impact on them then they actually do" ahahaha please
....i would tell you to fuck off but that would just start a fire, the case is.... the probability is that the thing someone is saying to us and if it is true/ resonates with what is true for is, we will obviously roll along with it! we are not trying to make you feel we are more into what you are saying then we are, the general scene is, when you are being that way i.e. being in line with what is natural to us, we will stand behind that very much and that's just in the background all the time and will make you feel comfortable and sure that we are in the same frequency, because not more needs to be done about it!
