@@armageddon1403 Well, then, I guess I should not only stop listening to her, but boycott Tuba Skinny as well, based on a superficial comment from someone who's never met her and knows nothing about her. After all, your opinion of this video (which spans less than five minutes) is surely enough for you to intuit what she may or may not have been thinking or feeling or have been going through. Thank goodness you saved me from wasting any more of my time enjoying their music. Now, I know I must hate them all.
However, did you know; "The band's orchestrator and cornetist Shaye Cohn-the granddaughter of jazz saxophonist Al Cohn-is a Bostonian and quite stunning looking I think, she has that look.
They are soooo good!! But I gotta tell ya, the Coronet player is amazing!! And the singer has the perfect voice for the music genre!!! Puts one to mind of Leon Redbone !!
Of course, the band is wonderful, and this is a tune they love. The videography is impressive. The variety of perspectives keeps us watching. Twice the camera makes a long slow approach, landing on a band member just as they launch a solo. That takes planning and familiarity with the arrangement. Shaye's solo starting at 3:54 is one of her best.
The multiple cameras, the sharp image, the focus on the solo, the camera movement adds new dimensions to my enjoyment of music. Keep it up! Sound quality is perfect!
Yes! The uptick in visual and sound quality is overdue and very welcome. I've got to say though, I still love the old videos of the street performances down on Royal Street...with stray dogs wandering by.
Boy oh boy, Shaye has evolved into a quintessential cornet player. Her ingenuity has always been there. But the rest of it , aside from God given talent, is all practiced and learned. What an absolute blessing it is to listen to her play. Such a clear tone and the volume! AND she doesn’t split every other note like a ton of “ professional “ brass players do. Ya ‘ gotta practice to have endurance, no way around it.
As always we can trust that all the musicians of the Skinny Tuba play up to their best ! Thank you, I cannot help it, but I always wish to dance to that music !
I've watched lots of Tuba Skinny street videos which are all great. But it's nice to see this professional quality video with nice editing where we can get clear closeups of the people soloing. Great job Tuba Skinny, and great job FCF with the filming/editing.
Bye, awful covid 19. Thanks for you, great band. My soul is young again !
Great band, and man oh man do I LOVE that clarinet on this! So sweet and smooth. Only wished I’d found an avenue way back when to perform CREATIVELY on the multiple instruments of which I played. Would have been much more fun and rewarding Gotta give it to TS: Your band just makes Happiness !
fasinating stuff fell on this by accident the ladies voice is amazing its if shes out of time and time traveled forward to now from new orleans the band is amazing just ive them that old look and they would also lok out of time lol
I sight/vision hundred of Tuba Skinny videos since many years ago. The franklayfilms's videos are the best (for me). Congratulations for this. Best wishes from France. Jo
Fantastic! I look forward to hearing more from this great band! Glad to have found you on UA-cam. Will share with fellow musicians in the big band I play vibes in, we are waiting to be able to play again in the future, as I suspect you are too. Best wishes from the Oregon coast!
from Henry 'Red' Allen's NY Orch. (vocal: Victoria Spivey) - 1929 ... Erika loves to do Victoria Spivey numbers Now you say you're hungry You might want somethin' to eat Oh, I ain't got no bread But I can give you some meat Now when the rooster and the hen Go to the barn to play Ah, the hen has chickens How do they do it that way? Ah, if you want somethin' good You mustn't knock on wood Just get a good man To look up under your hood And when your sweetie Goes away to stay If you get him back You gotta do it that way
Erika Lewis has one of the most amazing, enjoyable, and original voices I've been fortunate to hear.
Yes but she looks a litle grumpy

her voice is something special she gives me the chills
However, did you know; "The band's orchestrator and cornetist Shaye Cohn-the granddaughter of jazz saxophonist Al Cohn-is a Bostonian and quite stunning looking I think, she has that look.
I agree. She sounds as though she stepped right out of the 1920s...she owns this music.
The best band I ever heard! I hope they Will keep on together!
Erica is so nonchalant, she just blows me away. The whole ensemble is just brilliant.
Super clarinet, trombone is awesome and gifted trumpet. All just outrageous musicians!!
It's a cornet
A brilliant band, I'm so glad they have found more worldwide fame than just busking in N. O. The singer complements the musicians so well.
The music that this band plays and sings in enchanting. It is simply GREAT.
And the Grammy award goes too ---- Tuba Skinny
They are soooo good!! But I gotta tell ya, the Coronet player is amazing!! And the singer has the perfect voice for the music genre!!! Puts one to mind of Leon Redbone !!
The cornet player is Shaye Cohn, who is the band leader. I agree with you about Erica Lewis' voice. She plays it like an instrument.
I blew into a "Coronet" once and all I got was a mouth full of smoke from the tailpipe
Yes i love Leon Redbone and these guys too!

Enjoyed ,Lovely singer is Erica ,Fantastic filming a pleasure to watch ,Thank You.
A great "evergreen" in the repertoire of Tuba Skinny. Erica has always the right feeling for this tune. Max with a nice solo.
Erika perfect jazz singer I love you!
THE VOICE OF A ANGEL GOD SHE IS SO LOVELY IF I EVER MEET HER IN LIFE I WOULD SIMPLY MELT
I have met her. I melted LOL
The multiple cameras, the sharp image, the focus on the solo, the camera movement adds new dimensions to my enjoyment of music. Keep it up!

My thoughts, exactly. really great!

Agree.
Finally a decent recording of Tuba Skinny. Well done.
They are the "cats meow"!
I've never been to New Orleans, and if I never do, Tuba Skinny has got me there in spirit.
I love Shaye's cornet playing SO MUCH
I ca'nt see the Yamaha cornet in Shayes hand it must be a King Master cornet...
Pismo Beach, what a great town and just a holler form SLOtown. Tuba Skinny does it like no others. Thanks for the video.

Thumping out the blues to give a broken heart a break...... Tom O'Rourke 1953 .... almost 70, love always
I never heard this tune before, but, the with the other tunes performed by Tuba Skinny, I like it!
Don't know why but the guitar player with the hat is adorable. Love the way he keeps glancing up, almost like looking for reassurance.
Thank you darlings.
I wish you rainbows.
Erica is what keeps me listening to the group.

By far the best video/audio combination of TS work that I've seen. And I've visited more than a few youtube videos of TS. Hats off to FCF.

Great band, and man oh man do I LOVE that clarinet on this! So sweet and smooth. Only wished I’d found an avenue way back when to perform CREATIVELY on the multiple instruments of which I played. Would have been much more fun and rewarding

Erika es una reencarnación de los años 20 con esa maravillosa voz....canta como los angeles....es un ángel.
Erica that was sweet! Thank you. From Wales.
That's a classic stop chorus from Shaye. Pops wouldn't be ashamed of that.
Damn, another evening when "just one quick Tuba Skinny video " turns into a ten song night. Love this group.
Me too !
Same here, Saturday night is tuba skinny night for me,,,,,, and way into Sunday morning..
Love this piece and especially that they never play it the same way each time.
