The fact is- yes season five cleaned up most issues people had with the show. But it’s disappointing that it took four complete seasons for it to happen
Yeah because it doesn’t feel like a natural progression. Everything wrong with the show has continued to be a problem for 4 seasons but it all gets nearly wrapped up in the end? That’s a pacing issue. I’m kind of just guessing because I haven’t watched season 5 yet, but I hope it doesn’t feel like it has bad pacing.
I've been watching since season 1 and I think the show has majorly improved from when it began. I know most people dropped out of the Fandom because the slow burn was way too slow, or just the writing. Most fans of the show love it genuinely while others love to hate watch it. As a miraculous fan, I have to say I love the direction the show has taken.
My biggest problem with the show was how the villains became more flat and uninteresting over time rather than being fleshed out. I don't need every bad guy to be redeemable but it's a bad sign when they're all just cartoonishly evil. Take the main one for example. Before the Chat Blanc episode there was a point where Hawk Moth actually seemed like a sympathetic villain. He was always a jerk but he seemed somewhat redeemable because he was motivated by his desire to cure his wife. There were also a few scenes spread out throughout the early series that made it clear that he genuinely cared for his son even if he was bad at showing it. Now he's openly declaring world domination as his main goal and he doesn't give a damn about emotionally breaking Adrien. Personally I blame Lila. She's a bad influence on him. One of my favorite little details of this show was how both Adrien and Gabriel secretly love wordplay. I don't think either of them makes puns much as civilians especially when they're around each other. I used to really look forward to the day when they'd patch things up and bond over their mutual love of terrible puns. Starting to seem like a far away goal tbh. Honestly Hawkmoth's too far gone for a genuine character arc to actually redeem him in my opinion. At this point I'm kind of hoping they just go with the laziest option and say he was influenced by some kind of evil magic or something. Like akumatizing other people so often also effects his own personality or something cliche like that. It's a cop-out on some level but it's better than trying to redeem him for real. And honestly it would give an in universe reason for his character's decline that didn't just boil down to bad writing... Then there's Chloe who was clearly pitched as the worst mean girl you could think of. At some point the writers decided to give her more depth and even her own redemption arc. I don't know if she deserved a redemption arc but they actually did a pretty decent job of giving her one... until they suddenly backtracked and made her worse than ever because I guess they decided moral complexity was too hard to write. Then there's Lila who was pretty blatantly created to replace Chloe as terrible mean girl when they started her redemption arc. The biggest problem with Lila in my opinion is that the writers didn't want to put in the effort to actually make Lila good at deceiving people. Instead they just make everyone she talks to dumber, more gullible, and sometimes just a worse person over all. Gabriel in particular knows she is willing to work with a supervillain and still inexplicably trusts her parenting advice for no reason. If she were an actual skilled manipulator using cunning ploys to turn people against one another then she might actually be an interesting character. Instead she basically emanates bad writing.
Agree with all of your points, and I seriously hate what they did to Chloe. I was loving her redemption arc and the writers suddenly were like “nope, we’re too lazy” and she reverted back to the mean girl again. I mostly blame Thomas Astruc.
What stings me the most about Chloe isn't necessarily that she didn't get a redemption arc, but more like the hypocrisy of it all. They outright deleted what little development she had and pretended it never happened, pulled Zoey out of their butt to replace her as the bee holder, AND made Chloe behave even worse than she actually was before - going as far as retconning her from a queen bee mean girl to the type of bully that would tempt you into unaliving yourself. That's not "negative character development" that's Thomas straight up telling the audience we should NOT feel any sympathy whatsoever for Chloe no matter what.... while simultaneously feel pitty for Gabriel cuz his wife died and he's sad....
@@kou7191 I haven't seen much of the latest season so I don't know if they're trying to make Gabriel more sympathetic again but I feel like he and Chloe got pretty much the same treatment in late season 3. They both became flatter, less sympathetic, and more generically evil. The Chat Blanc and Miracle Queen episodes made it hard to find either sympathetic. To be honest Chloe was always a lot worse than your standard Queen Bee type bully. I remember even in season 1 she was willing to have her best friend's dad fired on a whim without a spec of remorse. She did get even worse after her redemption arc failed. Personally I think that's because when she started to become a better person they replaced her with Lila who was meant to be an even worse version of her. Then when Chloe became a bitch again they felt like she had to be even worse than before so she could at least rival Lila's awfulness. As a side it's kind of ridiculous that Chloe's failed character arc resulted in 2 separate characters being created to fill the voids she left as both an evil and good character.
@@ap7635 Chloe was always mean but in an obnoxious spoiled brat way since she was "harmless" as long as you didn't do something that'd upset her - which yeah, happened often, but point is she was a lot more reactive. Season 4 and 5 Chloe does awful things just because she feels like doing them and actually enjoys seeing people feel miserable. What little empathy she had is entirely gone and we're to pretend she was always a monster.
The shows writing is just a mess entirely. Yes, the story is still going, but it’s so inconsistent. Also Lila’s lies are dumb and make so little sense that the other characters have to take stupid pills to believe them. Yes, she has potential, but the way she’s written isn’t manipulative enough. Manipulative bullies will pretend to be their chosen victim’s friend, get close to them, tell believable lies about them behind their backs, and make it look like they’re the victims. That way if the real victims speak out no one will believe them. A good example of this type of character is Sae Kashiwagi from Peach Girl because she seems nice on the surface, but in reality, she’s bullying Momo. She takes advantage of Momos insecurities, makes the class think Momo is a brute because of Momos size, insults Momo when they’re alone so she gets her way, and even made it look like Momo was bullying her out of jealousy so she could get Momos boyfriend to break up with her so she could date him. They also waste time bashing Chloe that they could spend developing all these new characters they introduce. Fruits Basket is another show with plenty of episodes along with a lot of characters in it, but the creator didn’t waste entire story arcs making the bully characters sympathetic, only to turn them back into bullies again because they hated those characters.

very well said. Sae in Peach girl had crazy development, like imo, Zuko level development lol. Chloe doesn't even need that, but the fact they began to show us different sides to her that made sense but then stopped it without warning, it was so bad. like at this point if they want to make her go down an "irredeemable" path, at least give us a reason for her to truly be that, she's a 14 year old girl, if you want us to believe she's like azula, then they can give us true bad. just calling her irredeemable in a tweet took any interest we had out of her story line, whether we loved her or hated her, and it definitely disappointed me.
Idk if you had noticed yet... But the writers doesn't really like to make decisions thst will impact the rest of the series...That's why characters like Felix and Lila don't get alot of screentime, because when they are there they do get shit going.
I don’t understand the fact that ppl will praise the bare minimum from this show. The plot should’ve been moving forward since season 1 not 4 or 5. It’s ridiculous that Hawk moth still hasn’t defeated them or at least made his wish. He could’ve just akumatized himself and go back in time to save his wife. Now he can’t even do that.
Part of the problem is that Miraculous takes a lot from shoujo anime but missed what makes shoujo anime villains good. The child villains aren't cartoonishly evil and actually behave like real children. Once it's revealed that they're like that because they're traumatized, the adult writers usually give them a break and explore that nuance, creating drama and tension while the child villains help the heroes with the adult villains. Other animations like A:TLA also do this super well. So with so many good examples out there, why is Miraculous like this lmao
I feel the same for Gabriel whenever he transforms and starts saying his lines about how sad the situation is (ironically of course) I just skip it I don't wanna waste 30 seconds watching a grown men just thinking he's gonna win for once after 6 years
"Too many superheroes." I'm reminded of a certain (currently obscure) cartoon called Dragon Booster. That show only had 5 magic trinkets for 5 heroes. That's it. Dragon Booster, Shadow Booster, Power Booster, Fire Booster, Energy Booster. Unfortunately, the show got cancelled after 3 seasons so we only got to see the first 2 Boosters and teases for the remaining 3. Oh well. But my point is, Miraculous Ladybug also should've shown restraint. They could've easily told a complete story with just 3 seasons and the initial 7 Miraculouses from the Season 1 intro. There was just too much bloat after those initial seven.
Most of the new superheroes are actually meaningless, and trying to explain their meaning makes the situation even worse. They really should have settled on the Rena Rouge and Queen Bee and Mayura. A miraculous ime and a second chance completely upset the balance.
Regarding the abundance of superheroes, the writers are certainly favoring quantity over quality. Weaponizing the Chinese zodiac is nothing new but personifying it means you have 12 superheroes to debut on top of the existing characters. My inquiry with this idea is if the superpower relates to the animal the miraculous is based on. Good examples of this are the snake as the ouriboros and fox as a kitsune. Two infamous examples are the rabbit and rooster. Most if not all of the superheroes could have been well developed if the writers hadn't forced themselves into a quota.
I'm actually so sad with the direction they're starting to go with felix in S5 (starting in the ep "pretension"). It looks like they really want to redeem him, which is a shame for me because HE WAS THE ONLY INTERESTING ANTAGONIST. I loved to see him as a moraly grey person- he could join both the villain or the heroes side if he wanted to. I'm not against the idea of eventually redeeming him, but after just 5 eps where he gets to shine is just TOO EARLY. We could have seen his relationship with duusu. We could have had a justification of why he just gave all the miraculous to Gabriel when he already knew the existence of the Absolute Power- since he could trade just a few for the peacock miraculous (and actually it would be easily justified if they just told us he only discovered about the Wish after duusu told him). We could have had SO MUCH MORE of his antagonization before this "redemption arc" came- but they simply didn't use his character as well as they could :( (which is a shame fo rme because he basically became my favorite character)
I think that the power ups and everything, that the timing was actually good, because with water and ice they needed those right then. And Marinette tried for a long time I think, to stop akumatizations, but you don't really get to see that in the show, because of time constraints and everything.
The writing feels extremely off in this show lol. I’m more scared of Natalie than Gabriel tbh. 😅 Season 5 is doing way better but it shouldn’t have taken 5 seasons to figure out the direction of the show. Also Alex’s existence feels like plot armor and just shows up to fix everything there’s no concern about losing when you can just go back in time lol.
It's Nathalie and Alix. I agree about time travel in the show but that happens whenever it's liberally utilized. If you remember, Bunnyx said that it comes with a cost. That cost should be shown. Likewise, Fu warned that using too many miraculouses might have a deleterious effect, but Marinette walks around like the chosen one. Gabriel was interesting, as was Nathalie, which matters more to me than being scary. Lila is more scary than either of those two anyway. She has no remorse while the other two do.
Another big problem I have with this show: The AIRING! It doesn’t make sense to air episodes completely out of order! Season 5 was very important but they aired it in such a dumb order and this already happened in the past seasons

I think the only reason they had a build up of super heroes (in season 4 especially) was to neglect Chat Noir so much where he wouldn't even be needed in battle. Only for Marinette to entrust the wrong person with a miraculous because it's never gone wrong before, and for that to cost her everything, except Chat Noir, who was there since the beginning.
Considering Zoe is a girl Marinette just met and knows nothing about, she'd be an excellent choice to be that wrong person. It would also teach kids a good lesson about not judging people by appearances.

i've been watching since 2016 and at that time, i was pretty young so i didn't realize things about miraculous that were not the best. i know that seasons 1-3 were out only and not much happened, but at that time i did know that it was the same thing every single episode. something happens, someone gets upset/angry, then they get akumatized, ladybug and cat noir come and fight them, destory the object with the akuma, and then something happens in the end. (this was mostly season 1. 2 and 3 was a bit different but pretty much the same). i didn't like that but what idk what else they could've done. anyways yeah i just wanted to share that!!
As others have said it's the lack if change in the story that's hurting it. They never commit to any real changes. They are small plot points that affect one episode and then they move on and it's never brought up again. Keeping hawkmoth in power as long as he has been is boring! We need a new villain and more other side villian/antagonists. Too much focus on the love square that's so dry at this point. Grand canyon anyone?
I stopped watching the after a few season 4 episodes which are the worst in my opinion. This show changed badly with its character development and writing. Miraculous is overrated

At this point the show is just a cash cow… And the same thing… Hawkmoth turns people evil, Marinette undoes the curse, saves the day, and on the side is awkward around Adrien, that’s it, they haven’t changed anything since Season 2, it really needs to end at this point… Did I mention the animation is so bad?

Season 5 is way too rushed honestly. They crammed in 4 seasons worth of character development into a handful of episodes. Many of the episodes in Season 5 should have actually taken place in Seasons 1 and 2. The writers spent too much time dilly-dallying in the first few seasons, and now they have to wrap up a ton of plot points.
Exactly what should've been fleshed out within the last 3-4 seasons is being crammed into one and it is jarring. If people were to binge all of the seasons up until the most recent ep of S5, it would be very obvious how contrived the plot has become. It sucks too because it people were a little more willing to call it out instead of giving Astruc good noodle stars for trying his best, they might have actually bothered to write better. Waste of good potential imo.
@@esayem7746 It also seems like the character development was undone, and now they're redoing it in season 5. Marinette is again learning to be more confident and express her love for adrien, which was literally the entire point of season 2. And they have all the stuff with felix and kagami going on as well, and the later episodes get into a grand conspiracy as well. A lot of the plot points and arcs in Season 5 could have been interesting multi-episode arcs with good buildup and foreshadowing. Hopefully season 6 will be well-paced.

Miraculous ladybug was my favorite cartoon but I almost lost interest in watching it, sometimes I'm tempted to re-watch the old episodes to kill the spare time. Something is wrong with the writing, either it's inconsistent with the plot or it's taking too long to get the season ready.

I’m just going to say it, gabriel is the worst villain I have every seen, like when I tell you the worst, I mean the worst, he can never win, only in the session four finale, but he didn’t even get lb and chats miraculous, just the others. Not to mention that I swear Lila, can defeat him, and I earn that, she is one of the best villain in the show, her way of tricking people into going against the main protagonists it’s just so great to watch as much as it’s annoying to see it, which is a great for being a villain and getting what you want, her way of being evil is just so great and so fun to see in my favourite show, knowing that she has won multiple times and still winning shows that even the hero can’t stop her. And you right she dose not get enough screen time and she should. If someone like Lila was Gabriel, I would love the main villain. It would be great to have Lila as the main villain. She will get her revenge on Gabriel for replacing her and she is always in one step ahead. Well, if you’re so much better than Gabriel but let me talk about why he’s so bad. He. Dose. Not. Win. Like I said before he’s won once that still has an effect till this day. ONCE out of more than 100 episodes and 5 seasons. Once, he cant even face his enemies in person and gets a baby to do it for him. At this point he’s not even the villain, he’s just telling people what to do and every episode he say I’ll get their miraculous is, but he never dose, he dose not plan anything out and he wants to re-write the world for his dead wife? His villain ark makes absolutely no sense to me, he treats everyone like crap and forces Adrian to be with someone he doesn’t want to be with? He’s a cold man thats all he’s good for. Also let’s talk about Felix, because he’s much more interesting than him like Lila, he is also a great liar in my opinion, his story I just makes so much sense, he wants The miraculous is to be write a world, where there is no hate, and no controlling people, which he has dealt with for a long time, as stated by him, he had a good reason want the miraculous, unlike Gabriel, he also somehow manages to get everyone to turn against him, like Lila, Natalie and more. There is just so much more but I don’t have time
IN most points i be with you, and yes season 5 make many changes that are good. But what i not understand is, why they now wasting Felix again? We could have a great new Hawkmoth with Felix, but no now we have a redemption arc for Felix? Why, only for Kagami too get a guy? Sorry thats something that bugs me out all the time. And when it comes to how many heroes there are, yes way too many. i think if they could keep it too a minimum the show would have been much better. And when it comes too Lila and Chloe, im really happy when they finally get consequences for there behavior. I mean, how many times Chloe did damage not only the feelings of someone, but damage the whole city for her stupid mood? And Lila, she was exposed lying how many times now? And still everyone believes her without thinking. Heck even Alia believes Lila more then she believes Marinette, and this is something where u can clearly see that Alias behave is dictated by the story and not her Character, bc it makes no sense that she not believe Marinette even with knowing that Marinette never lies. Well i could go on with this forevere, but lets see what will come in the episodes of season 5 that are still missing.
Adrienette is the worst couple ever. And it's all Marinette's fault. We all know why...The best one is Marichat or Ladynoir. But ofc season 5 had to ruin it, by Marinette falling in love with Chat Noir. Sure if we want Ladynoir, Ladybug has to love Chat Noir just as he loves her, but she makes it so akward and goofy..So that's why most people, including me, ship Marichat the most.
he's much more than a worst villian, he's the worst father ever he wouldn't let his own son go out and hang out with his friends, he should be like splinter and doofensmurf the turtles's father from and mentor and vanessa's father from phineas and ferb let them go out and hang out with others.
I am 13 and love Miraculous but the fandom are making me feel depressed as they are always hating on my favourite characters like marrinette or alya and hating the ship I like Adrinette too and it's putting me off the show which makes me sad
If you like it, you like it. If you need to take a break from fan spaces, you probably should to preserve what interest you still have in it. But people need to learn that nothing is exempt from criticism. The show has had a pretty bad track record for a while now, it's not springing up out of nowhere. People can just be mean sometimes and that's not cool, but most of the time, it's serious issues that the writers should be listening to.
Yeah idk why they add so much heroes in the New York special it makes it less special for our heroes. Like it would be cool if ladybug and cat noir inspire new superheroes in New York like the two young ones. So LB and CN can teach them
lila gets on my nerves so much but she adds to the story. same with felix. they annoy me so much but they are smart (especially felix) they always adds a plot twist when they are on screen.

Wiliem in the games love collecting kids soul to make them more power full animatronics . And grabriel do this to but he do the miraculas . When wiliem lost his famili because his fault he start to colect more souls to bring his family back, but the times go he geting crazy and then he in thet moment don t care his famely he just want more power. And the miracules do the same gabriel. Wiliem build a machin to put the soul in a machin , and if he want get he can transfer the souls in animatrincs. And a miraculas do the same the kwami machin . The kwamis acting as a kids like kid souls in the fnaf ! When wiliem so close to capsurd by the goshts hi run animatronic costum and hide in, but the costum slowly kill him . And a miracules do a simiral think in the season5 epizod 3 when gabriel almos revid his identit by ladybug heand he fastly tuch the black cat power to excape. And he now dieing. And if the miracules the copy fnaf main bad guy . gabriel alfter his death , he will came back the death and do his miraculas colection . As wiliem did hi came back the death as springtrap .
I don't get why people dislike so much Hawmoth (too hard to write i'm going to stay with Le Papillon). He's quite good as a vilain. We know why he act like that, he's so obsessed with his dead wife and suffer so much of her loss that he's getting completly blind and become crazy. That's why he's sometimes nice towards Adrien and sometimes mean. He's just a toxic father who give affection then be mean again. We even know he used to be different when he was young. And after all he looks like Marinette (fashion, modest background, but also obsession towards the person they love) The real problem with him is how the show humiliated him all the time. He should be scary, Ladybug and Chat Noir should be terrified during confrontations with him and not make stupid jokes or look proud when they catch him. They should be scared of standing near him.
Not to mention the contradictions the show has on itself. Optigami wouldn’t have worked out in the end if they stuck to their own logic: that kwamis can’t be heard or seen through technology. And the only reason Sentibubbler happened is because of the events of Optigami where the kwamis are able to contact Mari through the back up phone, and transport Alya to Mari’s room to get the miraculous of the turtle to give to Nino, who’s actually a senti monster, which hints to Hawkmoth that Alya is more than just a regular temporary holder, AND in Risk when Carapace reveals that Rena is still active, Alya wouldn’t have had to give up her miraculous for it to be stolen by Hawkmoth which would have gave LB one more ally. Even Rena being given the miraculous permanently possibly wouldn’t have happened. Just that one detail caused an entire rift of a false situation because of a contradiction. And what’s more crazy is that the rule of kwamis not being heard nor seen through television is brought up more than once, with one of those instances within the same. season. as. optigami. in. truth.

i think that the problem with miraculous is all the fans of the show. Everyone expects a lot but they kind of forget that the show is made for little kids

as much as I'd like to agree with you, you have to remember that this show is targeted towards children and children don't really notice these kinds of details appose to older viewers, so it doesn't really matter😅
I don't like to give show runners this excuse. When I was a kid, they didn't need to dumb down shows and make illogical writing choices so we'd understand it. You can make a show with a good plot, that can be understood by the target audience. It's target audience is 7 and up, and 7 year olds are not dumb 😭😭
You expect a lot from a disney show Edit: this show i to was meant to be simple. You expect a complicated storyline and characters from a show that had no intentions to do that. The show has a formula, that it follows in every episode, the formula is simple, the objective is simple. Kind of reminds me of avatar the last airbender’s firelord villian. He was a villian and only a villian. So is gabriel. If you start making him . Have a change of heart, etc, you then start breaking the formula. What happens then?
If definitely started out like that. Somewhere along the way, THEY decided to make it more "complex" and plot driven. A great example of biting off more than you can chew.
The fact is- yes season five cleaned up most issues people had with the show. But it’s disappointing that it took four complete seasons for it to happen
Yeah because it doesn’t feel like a natural progression. Everything wrong with the show has continued to be a problem for 4 seasons but it all gets nearly wrapped up in the end? That’s a pacing issue. I’m kind of just guessing because I haven’t watched season 5 yet, but I hope it doesn’t feel like it has bad pacing.

I've been watching since season 1 and I think the show has majorly improved from when it began. I know most people dropped out of the Fandom because the slow burn was way too slow, or just the writing. Most fans of the show love it genuinely while others love to hate watch it. As a miraculous fan, I have to say I love the direction the show has taken.

My biggest problem with the show was how the villains became more flat and uninteresting over time rather than being fleshed out. I don't need every bad guy to be redeemable but it's a bad sign when they're all just cartoonishly evil. Take the main one for example. Before the Chat Blanc episode there was a point where Hawk Moth actually seemed like a sympathetic villain. He was always a jerk but he seemed somewhat redeemable because he was motivated by his desire to cure his wife. There were also a few scenes spread out throughout the early series that made it clear that he genuinely cared for his son even if he was bad at showing it. Now he's openly declaring world domination as his main goal and he doesn't give a damn about emotionally breaking Adrien. Personally I blame Lila. She's a bad influence on him. One of my favorite little details of this show was how both Adrien and Gabriel secretly love wordplay. I don't think either of them makes puns much as civilians especially when they're around each other. I used to really look forward to the day when they'd patch things up and bond over their mutual love of terrible puns. Starting to seem like a far away goal tbh. Honestly Hawkmoth's too far gone for a genuine character arc to actually redeem him in my opinion. At this point I'm kind of hoping they just go with the laziest option and say he was influenced by some kind of evil magic or something. Like akumatizing other people so often also effects his own personality or something cliche like that. It's a cop-out on some level but it's better than trying to redeem him for real. And honestly it would give an in universe reason for his character's decline that didn't just boil down to bad writing...
Then there's Chloe who was clearly pitched as the worst mean girl you could think of. At some point the writers decided to give her more depth and even her own redemption arc. I don't know if she deserved a redemption arc but they actually did a pretty decent job of giving her one... until they suddenly backtracked and made her worse than ever because I guess they decided moral complexity was too hard to write.
Then there's Lila who was pretty blatantly created to replace Chloe as terrible mean girl when they started her redemption arc. The biggest problem with Lila in my opinion is that the writers didn't want to put in the effort to actually make Lila good at deceiving people. Instead they just make everyone she talks to dumber, more gullible, and sometimes just a worse person over all. Gabriel in particular knows she is willing to work with a supervillain and still inexplicably trusts her parenting advice for no reason. If she were an actual skilled manipulator using cunning ploys to turn people against one another then she might actually be an interesting character. Instead she basically emanates bad writing.
Agree with all of your points, and I seriously hate what they did to Chloe. I was loving her redemption arc and the writers suddenly were like “nope, we’re too lazy” and she reverted back to the mean girl again. I mostly blame Thomas Astruc.

What stings me the most about Chloe isn't necessarily that she didn't get a redemption arc, but more like the hypocrisy of it all. They outright deleted what little development she had and pretended it never happened, pulled Zoey out of their butt to replace her as the bee holder, AND made Chloe behave even worse than she actually was before - going as far as retconning her from a queen bee mean girl to the type of bully that would tempt you into unaliving yourself.
That's not "negative character development" that's Thomas straight up telling the audience we should NOT feel any sympathy whatsoever for Chloe no matter what.... while simultaneously feel pitty for Gabriel cuz his wife died and he's sad....
@@kou7191 I haven't seen much of the latest season so I don't know if they're trying to make Gabriel more sympathetic again but I feel like he and Chloe got pretty much the same treatment in late season 3. They both became flatter, less sympathetic, and more generically evil. The Chat Blanc and Miracle Queen episodes made it hard to find either sympathetic.
To be honest Chloe was always a lot worse than your standard Queen Bee type bully. I remember even in season 1 she was willing to have her best friend's dad fired on a whim without a spec of remorse. She did get even worse after her redemption arc failed. Personally I think that's because when she started to become a better person they replaced her with Lila who was meant to be an even worse version of her. Then when Chloe became a bitch again they felt like she had to be even worse than before so she could at least rival Lila's awfulness. As a side it's kind of ridiculous that Chloe's failed character arc resulted in 2 separate characters being created to fill the voids she left as both an evil and good character.

Season 4 and 5 Chloe does awful things just because she feels like doing them and actually enjoys seeing people feel miserable. What little empathy she had is entirely gone and we're to pretend she was always a monster.
The shows writing is just a mess entirely. Yes, the story is still going, but it’s so inconsistent.
Also Lila’s lies are dumb and make so little sense that the other characters have to take stupid pills to believe them. Yes, she has potential, but the way she’s written isn’t manipulative enough.
Manipulative bullies will pretend to be their chosen victim’s friend, get close to them, tell believable lies about them behind their backs, and make it look like they’re the victims. That way if the real victims speak out no one will believe them. A good example of this type of character is Sae Kashiwagi from Peach Girl because she seems nice on the surface, but in reality, she’s bullying Momo. She takes advantage of Momos insecurities, makes the class think Momo is a brute because of Momos size, insults Momo when they’re alone so she gets her way, and even made it look like Momo was bullying her out of jealousy so she could get Momos boyfriend to break up with her so she could date him.
They also waste time bashing Chloe that they could spend developing all these new characters they introduce. Fruits Basket is another show with plenty of episodes along with a lot of characters in it, but the creator didn’t waste entire story arcs making the bully characters sympathetic, only to turn them back into bullies again because they hated those characters.

I don’t understand the fact that ppl will praise the bare minimum from this show. The plot should’ve been moving forward since season 1 not 4 or 5.
It’s ridiculous that Hawk moth still hasn’t defeated them or at least made his wish. He could’ve just akumatized himself and go back in time to save his wife.

Part of the problem is that Miraculous takes a lot from shoujo anime but missed what makes shoujo anime villains good. The child villains aren't cartoonishly evil and actually behave like real children. Once it's revealed that they're like that because they're traumatized, the adult writers usually give them a break and explore that nuance, creating drama and tension while the child villains help the heroes with the adult villains. Other animations like A:TLA also do this super well. So with so many good examples out there, why is Miraculous like this lmao
I feel the same for Gabriel whenever he transforms and starts saying his lines about how sad the situation is (ironically of course) I just skip it I don't wanna waste 30 seconds watching a grown men just thinking he's gonna win for once after 6 years

I'm reminded of a certain (currently obscure) cartoon called Dragon Booster. That show only had 5 magic trinkets for 5 heroes. That's it. Dragon Booster, Shadow Booster, Power Booster, Fire Booster, Energy Booster.
Unfortunately, the show got cancelled after 3 seasons so we only got to see the first 2 Boosters and teases for the remaining 3. Oh well.
But my point is, Miraculous Ladybug also should've shown restraint. They could've easily told a complete story with just 3 seasons and the initial 7 Miraculouses from the Season 1 intro. There was just too much bloat after those initial seven.
Hope that season 6 is going to be better than the last season and having a good writing since Thomas has no longer cooperate for season 6 🙃
Most of the new superheroes are actually meaningless, and trying to explain their meaning makes the situation even worse. They really should have settled on the Rena Rouge and Queen Bee and Mayura. A miraculous ime and a second chance completely upset the balance.
Regarding the abundance of superheroes, the writers are certainly favoring quantity over quality.
Weaponizing the Chinese zodiac is nothing new but personifying it means you have 12 superheroes to debut on top of the existing characters. My inquiry with this idea is if the superpower relates to the animal the miraculous is based on. Good examples of this are the snake as the ouriboros and fox as a kitsune. Two infamous examples are the rabbit and rooster.
Most if not all of the superheroes could have been well developed if the writers hadn't forced themselves into a quota.
Honestly, that's more of an execution problem. There's no reason why 12 characters can't have unique powers and personalities.
I'm actually so sad with the direction they're starting to go with felix in S5 (starting in the ep "pretension"). It looks like they really want to redeem him, which is a shame for me because HE WAS THE ONLY INTERESTING ANTAGONIST. I loved to see him as a moraly grey person- he could join both the villain or the heroes side if he wanted to. I'm not against the idea of eventually redeeming him, but after just 5 eps where he gets to shine is just TOO EARLY. We could have seen his relationship with duusu. We could have had a justification of why he just gave all the miraculous to Gabriel when he already knew the existence of the Absolute Power- since he could trade just a few for the peacock miraculous (and actually it would be easily justified if they just told us he only discovered about the Wish after duusu told him). We could have had SO MUCH MORE of his antagonization before this "redemption arc" came- but they simply didn't use his character as well as they could :( (which is a shame fo rme because he basically became my favorite character)
I think that the power ups and everything, that the timing was actually good, because with water and ice they needed those right then. And Marinette tried for a long time I think, to stop akumatizations, but you don't really get to see that in the show, because of time constraints and everything.

It's Nathalie and Alix. I agree about time travel in the show but that happens whenever it's liberally utilized. If you remember, Bunnyx said that it comes with a cost. That cost should be shown. Likewise, Fu warned that using too many miraculouses might have a deleterious effect, but Marinette walks around like the chosen one. Gabriel was interesting, as was Nathalie, which matters more to me than being scary. Lila is more scary than either of those two anyway. She has no remorse while the other two do.

I think the only reason they had a build up of super heroes (in season 4 especially) was to neglect Chat Noir so much where he wouldn't even be needed in battle. Only for Marinette to entrust the wrong person with a miraculous because it's never gone wrong before, and for that to cost her everything, except Chat Noir, who was there since the beginning.
Considering Zoe is a girl Marinette just met and knows nothing about, she'd be an excellent choice to be that wrong person. It would also teach kids a good lesson about not judging people by appearances.

It’s so true people act like children are stupid but in reality they can understand way more than you think. I’m 12, personally I’m not treated like I’m stupid or anything but anyone under the age of 12 are treated like they can’t understand how to count to 10.
i've been watching since 2016 and at that time, i was pretty young so i didn't realize things about miraculous that were not the best. i know that seasons 1-3 were out only and not much happened, but at that time i did know that it was the same thing every single episode. something happens, someone gets upset/angry, then they get akumatized, ladybug and cat noir come and fight them, destory the object with the akuma, and then something happens in the end. (this was mostly season 1. 2 and 3 was a bit different but pretty much the same). i didn't like that but what idk what else they could've done. anyways yeah i just wanted to share that!!

They are small plot points that affect one episode and then they move on and it's never brought up again. Keeping hawkmoth in power as long as he has been is boring! Season 5 is way too rushed honestly. They crammed in 4 seasons worth of character development into a handful of episodes. Many of the episodes in Season 5 should have actually taken place in Seasons 1 and 2. The writers spent too much time dilly-dallying in the first few seasons, and now they have to wrap up a ton of plot points.
Exactly what should've been fleshed out within the last 3-4 seasons is being crammed into one and it is jarring. If people were to binge all of the seasons up until the most recent ep of S5, it would be very obvious how contrived the plot has become. It sucks too because it people were a little more willing to call it out instead of giving Astruc good noodle stars for trying his best, they might have actually bothered to write better. Waste of good potential imo.
@@esayem7746 It also seems like the character development was undone, and now they're redoing it in season 5. Marinette is again learning to be more confident and express her love for adrien, which was literally the entire point of season 2. And they have all the stuff with felix and kagami going on as well, and the later episodes get into a grand conspiracy as well. A lot of the plot points and arcs in Season 5 could have been interesting multi-episode arcs with good buildup and foreshadowing. Hopefully season 6 will be well-paced.

I’m just going to say it, gabriel is the worst villain I have every seen, like when I tell you the worst, I mean the worst, he can never win, only in the session four finale, but he didn’t even get lb and chats miraculous, just the others. Not to mention that I swear Lila, can defeat him, and I earn that, she is one of the best villain in the show, her way of tricking people into going against the main protagonists it’s just so great to watch as much as it’s annoying to see it, which is a great for being a villain and getting what you want, her way of being evil is just so great and so fun to see in my favourite show, knowing that she has won multiple times and still winning shows that even the hero can’t stop her. And you right she dose not get enough screen time and she should. If someone like Lila was Gabriel, I would love the main villain. It would be great to have Lila as the main villain. She will get her revenge on Gabriel for replacing her and she is always in one step ahead. Well, if you’re so much better than Gabriel but let me talk about why he’s so bad. He. Dose. Not. Win. Like I said before he’s won once that still has an effect till this day. ONCE out of more than 100 episodes and 5 seasons. Once, he cant even face his enemies in person and gets a baby to do it for him. At this point he’s not even the villain, he’s just telling people what to do and every episode he say I’ll get their miraculous is, but he never dose, he dose not plan anything out and he wants to re-write the world for his dead wife? His villain ark makes absolutely no sense to me, he treats everyone like crap and forces Adrian to be with someone he doesn’t want to be with? He’s a cold man thats all he’s good for. Also let’s talk about Felix, because he’s much more interesting than him like Lila, he is also a great liar in my opinion, his story I just makes so much sense, he wants The miraculous is to be write a world, where there is no hate, and no controlling people, which he has dealt with for a long time, as stated by him, he had a good reason want the miraculous, unlike Gabriel, he also somehow manages to get everyone to turn against him, like Lila, Natalie and more. Adrienette is the worst couple ever. And it's all Marinette's fault. We all know why...The best one is Marichat or Ladynoir. But ofc season 5 had to ruin it, by Marinette falling in love with Chat Noir. Sure if we want Ladynoir, Ladybug has to love Chat Noir just as he loves her, but she makes it so akward and goofy..So that's why most people, including me, ship Marichat the most.

If you like it, you like it. If you need to take a break from fan spaces, you probably should to preserve what interest you still have in it. But people need to learn that nothing is exempt from criticism. The show has had a pretty bad track record for a while now, it's not springing up out of nowhere. People can just be mean sometimes and that's not cool, but most of the time, it's serious issues that the writers should be listening to.

AGREE but sometimes I feel like people forget it’s a show for children and there’s a reason why not everything is so complex and logical/realistic

There are kid shows that can be complexor at least coherent enough to avoid many pitfalls.
Before im start this commet i want to tell im not eglish , so my englih is not realy good . But i want to tell what i want to say . I think Gabriel new form and personality is so close to wiliem afton human look and his personality from the fnaf. I tinkh the miraculas can t make a good main bad guy the show so they copy a fames bad guy from a fames video game . And i have evedenc to prof mi, furst the back story . Wiliem in the games love collecting kids soul to make them more power full animatronics . And grabriel do this to but he do the miraculas . When wiliem lost his famili because his fault he start to colect more souls to bring his family back, but the times go he geting crazy and then he in thet moment don t care his famely he just want more power. And the miracules do the same gabriel. Wiliem build a machin to put the soul in a machin , and if he want get he can transfer the souls in animatrincs. And a miraculas do the same the kwami machin . The kwamis acting as a kids like kid souls in the fnaf ! When wiliem so close to capsurd by the goshts hi run animatronic costum and hide in, but the costum slowly kill him . And a miracules do a simiral think in the season5 epizod 3 when gabriel almos revid his identit by ladybug heand he fastly tuch the black cat power to excape. And he now dieing. And if the miracules the copy fnaf main bad guy . gabriel alfter his death , he will came back the death and do his miraculas colection . As wiliem did hi came back the death as springtrap .

I don't get why people dislike so much Hawmoth (too hard to write i'm going to stay with Le Papillon). He's quite good as a vilain.
We know why he act like that, he's so obsessed with his dead wife and suffer so much of her loss that he's getting completly blind and become crazy.
That's why he's sometimes nice towards Adrien and sometimes mean. He's just a toxic father who give affection then be mean again.
We even know he used to be different when he was young. And after all he looks like Marinette (fashion, modest background, but also obsession towards the person they love)
The real problem with him is how the show humiliated him all the time. He should be scary, Ladybug and Chat Noir should be terrified during confrontations with him and not make stupid jokes or look proud when they catch him. They should be scared of standing near him.
Not to mention the contradictions the show has on itself.
Optigami wouldn’t have worked out in the end if they stuck to their own logic: that kwamis can’t be heard or seen through technology. And the only reason Sentibubbler happened is because of the events of Optigami where the kwamis are able to contact Mari through the back up phone, and transport Alya to Mari’s room to get the miraculous of the turtle to give to Nino, who’s actually a senti monster, which hints to Hawkmoth that Alya is more than just a regular temporary holder, AND in Risk when Carapace reveals that Rena is still active, Alya wouldn’t have had to give up her miraculous for it to be stolen by Hawkmoth which would have gave LB one more ally. Even Rena being given the miraculous permanently possibly wouldn’t have happened.
Just that one detail caused an entire rift of a false situation because of a contradiction. And what’s more crazy is that the rule of kwamis not being heard nor seen through television is brought up more than once, with one of those instances within the same. season. as. optigami. in. truth.
Miraculous is act like kids are the big dumb they don't need everything spell out for them

i think that the problem with miraculous is all the fans of the show. Everyone expects a lot but they kind of forget that the show is made for little kids

as much as I'd like to agree with you, you have to remember that this show is targeted towards children and children don't really notice these kinds of details appose to older viewers, so it doesn't really matter😅
I don't like to give show runners this excuse. When I was a kid, they didn't need to dumb down shows and make illogical writing choices so we'd understand it. You can make a show with a good plot, that can be understood by the target audience. It's target audience is 7 and up, and 7 year olds are not dumb 😭😭

Edit: this show i to was meant to be simple. You expect a complicated storyline and characters from a show that had no intentions to do that. The show has a formula, that it follows in every episode, the formula is simple, the objective is simple. Kind of reminds me of avatar the last airbender’s firelord villian. He was a villian and only a villian. So is gabriel. If you start making him . Have a change of heart, etc, you then start breaking the formula. What happens then?
If definitely started out like that. Somewhere along the way, THEY decided to make it more "complex" and plot driven. A great example of biting off more than you can chew.

Bluey is made for even younger kids and has significantly better writing. Mlb writers need to do better.
