- The Texas Furniture Maker Show in Kerrville, TX is a pilgrimage of inspiration for me each year and 2023 was no different. I've been going to them for about 9 years now (links to to the four previous ones I documented are below) and each year I sneak away a few more ideas I can incorporate into future projects. This year I seem to be on a tactile kick and seeing stuff here brought that into a little more focus.
The event is thrown ever fall by the Kerrville Arts Community. It's a free event but donations are welcome. Show goes through December 15th, 2023 (10am - 4pm Tues-Sat.) at the Kerr Arts and Culture Center in Kerrville Texas. ( www.texasfurni... )
On November 11th (a Saturday) they will have a public lecture with acclaimed furniture maker Miriam Carpenter and an award ceremony for the entire event. Check their website for full details.

Who thought that was a nice shape for those pepper mills....
I'm not a fan of epoxy fills. I'd rather see some sort of timber infill. Not easy I know but that surely is the point.
WOW, just stumbled across this video, so glad I took the time to watch. AMAZING works of art, style, and function, I appreciate you taking the time to highlight the details in these pieces.
amazing work and you are a great tour guide. Your passion for woodworking is infectious. Thanks.
The table you love so much. Take a harder look at the position of the legs. It prevents more than 4 people to sit at table. The legs are in the way of needed leg room . Looks to have only clearance for 4 people only. ? Am I wrong ?
Shawn, what a great show this year. Unbelievable the workmanship if the pieces submitted this year. I plan on making the trip down this year to view it in person. Also, thank you for your great video reviewing each piece.
At the 3:55 mark the piece you couldn't think of a name for is called a writing desk.
Hi Shawn. I always look forward to your tour through the show. So many great pieces presented this year. Thanks for all your constructive feedback-------Bruce Phillips
@4:22 Those are Greene and Greene inspired tables, cloud-lifts and all.
9:00 sure he has metal inside. Metal in one place - metal everywhere.. I wonder why he didn't hide the one that's visible... Carry a magnet next time you go there :-)
Would be appropriate to list the makers name.
I called every one out by name and showed their card for people to pause on. I felt that was good enough.

Okay, fair enough .
Forgive my unawareness, my wood lathe just gave up, frequency converter on the Midi died and I am busy to get a replacement. New machine it is.
Thanks for the kind words on my bench. Isn’t the show great this year?!
Thanks for this video and for showing this neophyte woodworker the beauty and artistry of these master craftsmen. I didn't know this show existed but am now planning to visit.
It's coming up soon.
Talking like you are a museum or library. So respectful and good feedback on what you saw and felt. Thx!
Was that a Matt Cramonna dinning chair with the black seat?
Another great review of "The Show." I showed a piece in 2022, got distracted last year, but will try to be ready for this year (only ten months left!). Your video helps inspire me to get better and produce not just good but outstanding work. I pray I am up to the challenge, the quality of the entries is world class. I have to keep reminding myself, "It's worth the effort, it's worth the effort."
Thank you so much Shawn. I really enjoyed your approach to understanding the thought and techniques that went into the brilliant pieces on display. Superb review!
I love your coverage of the Texas Furniture Maker Show every year. It might just drive me to Kerrville one year soon. Thanks!
Thank you, Shawn, for another great review highlighting the Texas Furniture Makers Show. Glad you liked our lamp!
I’ve shown 3 pieces on two different shows. Loved all the fine work I got see up close.
I really love your furniture show videos (and others too). Some of the most innovative and beautiful pieces I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to put these together.
Very cool Shawn. Thank you for the video. I look forward to this every year.
Thank you for the tour. Always enjoyable to see such fantastic pieces of wood craftsmanship.
Wish I could make it, but working in Colorado. Enjoy it
You really brought it to life. I am fascinated. One doesn't see things like these over here.
Yes! Texas furniture show! Love this time of year. Thanks Shawn.
The lamp stood out to me .thank you for showing it 😊
I would be afraid that the legs will fail that table.
One of my favorite videos of yours every year! Thank you!
