The Perfect Song, at least for me. I tried hard in high school, and got the attention of "the girl." Many years later I taught history at the same school. The day before the final exam I would sing this song for my students, and tell them the best way to study was to "look at the pictures and turn the pages," and don't be afraid to fall in love. And 'the girl"? We've been together for 54 years. Rest in Peace, Sam. Your little song lives on.
"but I do know one and one is two and if this one could be you, what a wonderful world this would be" what a simple life back then that made that life so great. 😊
Just read that it was written by Herb Alpert & Lou Adler -- they were staff-writing for Keen Records & wrote this is a follow-up for Cooke's "You Send Me"... not sure why other writers are listed above
One of my best loved songs since I first heard, which was about in the year of 92. I love it! Respect from Hungary, Europe. Dear old Sam, thanks for all songs you gave us.
That make me remember Harrisson Ford in „the witness „ and I fell in love again with this song . Einfach wunderbar , seitdem ist das Lied für immer in meinem Kopf aufgenommen . Sehr schön
Take a moment to ponder this.......OVER 7¾ BILLION people on this planet TODAY‼️ Since passing on Dec.11th,1964 ... you can go through all the music that has been recorded since, Not a single singer comes CLOSE TO😎 HIS😎 SOUND. Truely a gift from the 😇HEAVENS. Remembering as a young lad when this song or others he did gave me so much joy and the feeling there is right in this world. Has been sorely missed along with THE OTHER GREATS, but my life's journey may have been replaced with other ICONS OF MUSIC, nothing compares to the 60's message of 💖love ❤️and✊brotherhood. Everything is so fractured today, but I still trudge on with hope. ✌️PEACE ☮️
my father did sing that song anytime! when he sang this song, he felt identified with Harrison Ford in the movie "Witness". Personaly. when i hear this song, i think the love is more important than ever
I remember i heard this in the car with me and my dad when i was 14 and i never found out what song it was. . Over 20 years ago and i have never heard it untill today. Thank you.
I remember this song, back in 1964. He was a great singer that had his heart in the right place. I was 9 then, but over the years, by 2016, it really brought out the basic fundamentals of my life, and someone that I had really cared for me, wanted me to quit work and go back to school. I fell in love with her. So I did for the RN program.
How much i love this One .... A Great Emotion , for me , from the First Time i Heard It and ..... What a Voice !!! Also , i love all the music of Sam Cooke . Sadly , We Lost him very , very soon . RIP .
Wonderful World" (occasionally referred to as "(What A) Wonderful World") is a song by American singer-songwriter Sam Cooke. Released on April 14, 1960, by Keen Records, it had been recorded during an impromptu session the previous year in March 1959, at Sam Cooke's last recording session at Keen. He signed with RCA Victor in 1960 and "Wonderful World," then unreleased, was issued as a single in competition. The song was mainly composed by songwriting team Lou Adler and Herb Alpert, but Cooke revised the lyrics to mention the subject of education more.
And Herb Alpert later reworked the song. He removed the lyrics and changed the tempo, added a few things, and released "The Lonely Bull". One of his signature best.
Victor I (as usual) love your selection. I was 15 when Herman's Hermits covered this song and I really liked there version as well. Sam Cooke was fantastic.. It's amazing how many great performers died so young . I think he was vastly underated.(sp). Billy Joel was onto something when he did "Only the good die young".
I never got to see Sam Cooke perform, but I've seen Peter Noone (of Herman's Hermits) do this one live onstage. Unforgettable (as Nat King Cole would say).
He is very good. I liked him in The Fugitive with Tommy Lee Jones. I was looking at some recent pictures of Kelly McGillis though ... she doesn't seem to have aged too well.
Oh, you definitely must! It's an absolute classic and you'll love it. It's actually a re-make of an old 1960s TV series starring David Janssen. Millions tuned in to see the final nail-biting episode!
I loved this song when I 1st heard it about 20 yrs ago. It's not only a good love song but gives students who may be struggling with school/college that love can be more important.
I was only two years old in 1964. Eventhough, when I heard It again being 14 or 15 I knew It wasn't the first time... I went on and on till I learnt It. My dad was who told me the other part. A pity for not having similar music now-a-days
Maybe I was meant to come across this song. I've heard this in many movies. Like the one I'm watching now "The Animal House" just read that he passed. RIP. He also shares the same name as me
There's over 3,000 videos on this channel, Debbie. By now, most of the big hits by the major artists are on here somewhere. My best wishes for the new year to you, my dear friend.
This song reminds me of watching National Lampoons Animal House....we snuck in the backdoor of a movie theatre to watch that movie....LOL! Same to watch.... The Warriors....LMFAO! 2 great summers that was....
I remember when I was in 7th grade, my friend's english teacher played this in his class. He was so excited to show me afterwards, he grabbed the lyrics out of his backpack and sang it with his terrible voice while he put his arm over my shoulder and swayed me from side to side. I was annoyed by him and hated the song. After a few days he replayed it so many times, I started to love it. Today I had this random memory and I'm glad he showed it to me 10 years ago.
This song brings back memories to me. It was a very short time in my life, but one day I met some cool people while playing BO2 on my PS3. They were different from all the toxic people you’d usually meet in these games, we all just vibed and had fun during the match we met in and following that, we’d hop on everday to play call of duty together. One of the guys used to play this song over the mic when we would play together. It only lasted about two weeks or so before the whole group disbanded, but it was nice knowing them and I still think about it years later.
I found her but had to let her go - she had wings and I was still learning to fly 💕

That is an AWESOME story and I'm glad you're living a happy life and marriage :)
That is truly amazing
This man could say more in two minutes with a song, than most people can say in a normal 4 minute song.
and more than many could say in a lifetime!
Hell yeh!
Wow so deep
Wow, what an achievement!
TailsFurScales I like the song but I think I know what he's saying but not real sure can you explain please?
This song deserves just the same amount of attention as Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World. This song is perfection at it's total peak.
Uh it does get as much attention. Dafuk you talking about ?

"but I do know one and one is two and if this one could be you, what a wonderful world this would be" what a simple life back then that made that life so great. 😊
This tune by Sam Cooke is such a simple, beautiful love song, which is so essential and compelling on human life
So true, Henry - thank you.
