lol man those are some clean parts lets see a vid with some rust like most peoples cars.
Easy to say that when youre on the couch eating potato chips....nerd
First of all, thank you for filming this.
My friend wants me to help him with this job on his car, since it is throwing the p0420 code(model: CC, year: 2010) but I want to first check the upstream and downstream o2 sensors. Do you recommend first inspecting and possibly replacing the o2 sensors or replacing everything ( o2 sensors and catalytic converter)?
I have a 98 vw cabrio 2.0 base model. Is this the same method? Any good websites to buy the cat for a decent price?
Will this remove check engine light and will this be the same for 2000 jetta
and the mechanics charge so much for this service smdh
Yeah it is so easy to do it yourself and save all kinds of money. Thank you so much for watching!
Mechanics are people too, they got families to support, etc.. But really changing a Catalytic Converter ain't as easy as this video.. idk if ya noticed, but this was a nice new car.. If the Cat is shot, so is everything else.. The old bolts don't always come off, exhaust bolt break a lot.. Try drilling those out, way up inside that underside..
Most DIY guys don't have a lift like this video.. this is all done on your back.. with dirt n rust falling in your face n eyes, etc.. I've done Cats on my Tacoma,, There's a lot more room than this VW,
It ain't as easy as this video.. not even close.. Try it..
My mechanic wants 1600 for it. Smh. I mean i get it...but 1600??????? Seriously?? What a rip off!!
I was getting a quote for $900.00 assholes!
mine now costs over 2000 :(
My daughter has a 2005 beetle 2.0 L L4 DOHC. Is there any difference in changing the catalytic converter on that model?
Anyone know if this is the same for a 2004 2.0 GLS non turbo beetle?
If people steal it it can't be to hard
They use a saw, not undoing bolts. Thanks for watching!
Easy? That's a lot of parts to remove
Nothing too hard about nuts and bolts. Thanks for watching!
Hi All. Is this what's causing my Beetle to make the sound of a marble inside of a tin can? But only at slow speeds and while in reverse/or while slowing down at a traffic light?
Also, what price should I expect a shop to charge me? Eek🤷🏽♀️
Tiffany Martinez most likly heat shield
I found 2 02 sensors where is the third one
I have a VW Golf 2001. Hoping this helps, and work's out for me. Have the engine light on, and found out I need a new Catalytic Converter. I found nothing online about a guide for Golf's, so I'm winging it
This should be similar. Thanks for watching!
Good video - ditch the music!
I did. This is a older video. Haven't used music in 7 years or so now. Thanks for watching!
If it’s doesn’t get fixed ASAP will it cause further damage
No. It just will stink and not pass smog. If you notice low power though the catalytic material in it could break off and clog the exhaust which can cause problems. Thanks for watching!
What's your experience with aftermarket versus genuine VW cats? I've seen some claims on various web forums that many non-VW aftermarket cats have poor quality and durability and that the engine starts throwing cat-related codes (P0420, e.g.) not long after you install one.
I have never used an aftermarket cat, but that does sound like something that is likely to happen. VW's are super picky when it comes it replacement parts. Thank you for watching!
is it the same process for a mk4 1.8t 2001 volkswagen jetta wolfsburg edition?
Yes it is super similar. In-fact I believe they use the same catalytic converter.
Is it important to fix the catyilac converter ?? I'm new to having a beetle or much less owning a car
It is if you live in a state with strict emission controls or if it is plugged. Thanks for watching!
And how many catalytic s does it have?
is it the same for the 98 vw 2.0 base?
Hi, is this similar to replacing the cat on a 2003 VW Passat 1.8t?
Yes it should be really similar. All cars have basically the same thing but I'm pretty sure the Passat and Beetle share a lot of design and parts. Thank you for watching!
Okay thanks. And thanks for the video.
Is this process the same on the 98 passat?
Julian Brown hey dude. Did you end up doing this repair yourself? I also have the 98 Passat and need to do this. Any tips or trouble when you did it?
do you have a video on 2010 GTI?
I don't but, this is going to be very similar. Thank you for watching!
Seems simple enough... is this the same for all new beetles (I have a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0L SFI SOHC 4cyl)? Thanks
This was done on the turbo model but I can't imagine it would be different. Thank you so much for watching!
2CarPros Seems just the converter could be swapped out instead of replacing the entire contraption, but probably best to replace it all to minimize any liability/failure down the road
Just an FYI, not all converters are the same for this year range of new VW Beetles - the one I had to get for my AEG engine was a six-bolt, twin-pipe head (like a twin-headed cobra coming from one body, haha)... but these instructions work perfect for that type as well... I highly recommend you do this on a lift for ease of access - THANK YOU 2CARPROS!
Video kept stopping.
