  • In this Jamovi tutorial, I follow-up on my discussion of a previous episode on the the add-on module "medmod"! This jAMM module provides a way to perform complex mediation. This part of the module can do more complex models, such as double mediation, mediated moderation, and moderated mediation,

    NOTE: This tutorial uses the current build of Jamovi, 1.8.2 on MacOS. Version 1.6 contains all the new features to the program as of this recording date. Version 1.6 is listed as their most stable build.

    Thanks a lot. It was beneficial for me when analyzing. Could you please make a video that includes control variables?

    Thank you so much, i have to do some moderated mediation analysis for my social psych course and i was planning to use Jamovi for the statistical analysis but had no clue how to!!

      Could I ask what the difference would be between using this moderated mediation analysis and a multigroup path analysis?

    • @AlexanderSwan
      @AlexanderSwan  2 роки тому

      Glad I could help! To your question: I am not familiar with multigroup path analysis -- it sounds like SEM-related to me. That would set it apart from mediated moderation based on underlying math modeling.

    Hello thank you so much for this video. But is it possible to do assumptions checks in GLM Mediation Model ?

    Can you create a video on how to do a little more complex JAMM doing serial/sequential mediation?
    Thank you

    My dependent variable is scores of the students (95, 54, 83). What should I do to analyze the effect of motivation and self efficacy on the scores of the students?

      @@AlexanderSwan thanks for the answer. Maybe I need to categorize them like 1: 1-20, 2: 21- 40, 3: 41-60 4: 61-80 and 5: 81-100.

    Dear Alexander,
    Do reputed journals accept research papers using Jamovi in their methodology? I hardly see any journal articles using Jamovi to analyze data. Is there an unsaid rule in the publication fraternity that they favour costly tools like IBM SPSS AMOS and SMART PLS, and desk reject the papers using JAMOVI ?

    • @AlexanderSwan
      @AlexanderSwan  10 місяців тому +1

      Some researchers do not cite or indicate Jamovi was used. This is seen as common practice, at least in psychology. It is good to cite your tools, but because we don’t necessarily cite Excel for simple spreadsheet calculations, it’s hard to argue that we MUST or even OUGHT to cite Jamovi. If a journal desk rejects based on statistical software, then it’s a bad journal with silly editing staffs and boards. It’s a tool, just like a calculator. It is no worse or no better than SPSS.

    Thank you for your help! Could you maybe answer one question? How do I interpret now if it moderates or not? where in the results do I see that?

    • @AlexanderSwan
      @AlexanderSwan  2 роки тому

      You'll know if there's moderation if the moderator coefficient is significant. So if your moderator is like .54 or something, let's say it is gender, dummy-coded for Men as 0 and Women as 1, then you know that gender moderates the relationship between your IV/predictor and your DV/outcome variables. In my example, it is slightly closer to 1 so that means women tend to create the moderation. You also know that it is a positive relationship, so as more women in the sample, the more outcome variable occurs (whatever that may be).

    Hello sir. Thanks for the video. I also have a question. What approach Jamovi is using in Mediation Analysis? Is this under Partial Least Square or the conventional mediation analysis approach?

    • @AlexanderSwan
      @AlexanderSwan  2 роки тому

      For this add-on, I'm not sure. The base jamovi is conventional.

    Thank you for this video! For my masters thesis i am using the Jamovi jAMM module for a mediation with two IVs and two DVs, with one mediator. I have understand so far that it isn't possible to run this test with two DVs so I have to run the test twice, right? For either DV once.
    However, my IVs have both two levels. So, one is social cue and the levels are with or without avatar, and the other one is interaction style, either task-oriented or social. When I run this test, how can I separate the output between the levels so I can see the results per level? Or how do I need to interpret the results?

    Hi Sir Alexander!
    Thanks for sharing an informative video.
    I have a question. What option I need to select if I want to get the results of a single interaction effect in moderated-mediation model.

    • @AlexanderSwan
      @AlexanderSwan  3 роки тому

      I don't think that is possible. It may be buried in the output, but I think you might need to go more deeply using R and lavaan.
