      @@AlexanderSwan According to Andrew FIeld, for contigency tables bigger than 2x2, the significant chi-square test should be broken down with standardized residuals. These are interpreted like z values. That is, a standardized residual > 1.96 or < -1.96 is analogous to a p-value < 0.05. These cells would be "driving" the significant result in the table.

    Great video! I really like the way you explain the statistics and Jamovi, you make it really fun. I have a question about normality: My regression failed the Shapiro-Wilk test (and even though the skewness and kurtosis of my data is OK, I have some variables whose plots do not look normally distributed at all). Are there any ways to do a "non-parametric" regression with Jamovi?

    • @AlexanderSwan
      @AlexanderSwan 19 днів тому

      Thanks! No, you cannot do a nonparametric regression. You’d have to do group tests like Wilcoxon or Spearman’s rho. However, the GLM is fairly robust for normality issues if your sample size is sufficiently large, like 50+.

    Constructive feedback here from a university academic..... please stop talking so fast. It's not a great way to teach and sometimes you pronounce short phrases so fast it just sounds like gobbledygook. SLOW DOWN, take a breath, and focus on pronouncing words and phrases more clearly and succinctly.

    • @AlexanderSwan

      I appreciate the feedback. It’s weird, viewers prefer shorter vids, and unfortunately I speak slowly most of the time, especially when I’m doing these kinds of things, so that doesn’t jive with the algorithm. The great thing about videos is the ability to use player controls to make it personalized. Slow me down, speed me up (even more), play/pause, scrub it back several times, you name it. This is my overall recommendation to viewers, and it’s ultimately up to them to consume or click away, it’s all good.

      Great question, and one that doesn’t come with a simple answer: it depends on how much it is violated, what the DV is, and whether the measurement would likely be robust to the violation. The basic answer is, use the nonparametric alternative to this parametric test.

Because i'm studying the link between moral injury and sense of agency and i have 2 variables (or columns) ; one named "Memory" with two levels "Neutral" vs "Moral injury" and the variable "Condition" with two levels named "Voluntary" and "Unvoluntary". I also have a column named "Z-scores" with the z-scores of my participants because they had to give a number between 0 and 1000 to measure their sense of agency so I need to ensure that those results are normalized. However, when I go to the Bayesian Repeated Measures menu, nothing happens, I only see the variables "Condition" (categorical variable), "Memory" (also categorical), "Participants" (categorical) and "Z-scores" (numerical). Do I have to have only one lign per participant (I have 14 people in total) and then variables called "Moral Injury-Voluntary", "Moral Injury-Unvoluntary", "Neutral-Voluntary" and "Neutral-Unvoluntary" ? Thank you!

      They are not generally adjusted for multiple comparisons. Adjusting is generally reserved for post-box analyses, so if your entire model was part of your initial prediction, you don’t necessarily run the risk of a type I error

    thanks i think u should point out for future results if aprori or explorative analysis. and that post hoc tTests are only "good" for the latter one aka point out costum contrast hahah (my stat prof is very very strict about it and insists on it)

    Precisely what I was searching for. Thank Prof. Swan! Is it possible to test if a variable is a mediator or moderator? For instance, you have shown that anxiety is a mediator. Can we test if anxiety acts as a moderator?

      I would caution against this - mediators are third variables and moderators are interactions. These complex regressions are designed to be backed by logic and theory, so you need to have that in place BEFORE you run a model. One should not go back and forth just to see. Further, it really depends on how you’re measuring the variables. In your example, anxiety would not really work as a moderator because of how it is usually measured .

      It’s an app for MacOs called Cursor Pro. You can find it on the Mac App Store.
