  • I got an old used Squier Silver Series Stratocaster. It was made in early 1990s by Fujigen, the Japanese guitar manufacturer of Greco, Ibanez and other Japanese major guitars.
    30 years have passed since it was manufactured, it had various issues that had to be fixed before playing.
    The issues were like:
    - Serious noise from the pickup selector
    - Dented frets and neck bowing
    - Dirt and rust on the hardwares
    We are going to repair them.

    С большим удовольствием смотрю ваши ролики, как Вы реанимируете винтажные инструменты. Без лишней болтовни, всё чётко и слаженно. В результате оживший красивый инструмент. Спасибо))

    Great work and sound! I did a similar Video with a 1980s E-Series Korean Squier (but pimped it quite a lot) here on YT.

    I bought an Ibanez strat (clone) in Dec ''72. I had the frets done by a local guitar shop.The top horn has what looks like router tooling mark. The electronics started playing up after about 18 months gradually the pickup selector switch stopped working. The pickguard screws got very rusty to the point they couldn''t be removed. Overall I would have expected a better quality instrument from Japan!

    Wow, what a fantastic video! I have a 50th Anniversary made in Korea which looks the same but I think it was made in 1995 since the serial number begins with VN5. I love the guitar and you did an excellent job of showing how it can be completely “detailed” in every possible way. Thank you! I just have one question-what strings brand and gauge would you recommend on it?

    Excellent video. I have a '92 torino red. I never paid much attention to it, but after this video I felt like giving it a general cleaning and general tuning. It's a very interesting guitar that deserved to be played more! What is your opinion about the pickups? I thought about upgrading, but I think I'll keep it 100% original. I'll probably have to dedicate more time to adjusting the height of the pickups... Cheers!

      Thank you :) In my case, to be honest, I don't feel the need to replace the pickups, but if I dare to replace it, I would like to replace the neck pickup with a Suhr ML.

      I use ultrasonic cleaner recently. It's not very powerful, but it's good for cleaning small hardware details.

    Hi there, did your guitar NOT have the bridge pick up wired to the tone pot? I have a mij e8 squier and mine doesn't

    • @croquetteguitar
      @croquetteguitar  2 роки тому +1

      It doesn't. It was standard stratocaster wiring.

      None of the Silver Series Strats had the tone pot wired to the bridge pickup, unless someone has modified it since it was made.

    What were the bodies made of. I heard they were either Alder or fiber wood 🤔

    • @croquetteguitar
      @croquetteguitar  2 роки тому +1

      I think it's fiber wood.

      @@croquetteguitar no, Silver Series strats were solid wood, probably Alder. If you look carefully, you can see the joins in the wood (probably 3 pieces), if it were fibre wood it would have no joins
