I don't understand why folks get upset with sharing beautiful locations????? We all love the beauty and the joy of capturing it, what is wrong with sharing it???? Oh and Alex's portfolio is amazing!!!!
I agree, it is something that I don't understand either, why keep locations secret? So what if someone else recreates an image that someone else has captured, different people will see and capture different aspects. Not all trees are the same every year at that time of the year. Surely we all want to promote the enriched beauty that this land has to offer and help educate the uneducated. I firmly believe it is better to share our experiences to broaden horizons and experiences for others to enjoy and appreciate.
Hi Gary, if there’s one thing I could say about your videos over the years, it’s “the passion” you embody in every one. Regardless of this week’s wonderful conditions and the resulting images, it’s your passion for what you do that inspires me. Thank you.
Brilliant mate. This place is 10mins from me. Great conditions you had there. It's starting to become a popular spot now. I used to go n see no one there at all. But now, becoming busy.. I managed to get after work on Tuesday after the dumping of snow. Must say it looked magical. 👍🏻
Another great video Gary. You were certainly blessed with the conditions. I thought it was a nice gesture of Alex to show you a location that he goes to. Absolutely stunning image's. Good luck on your Photography Club talks.
Hi Gary, super locations and the conditions don’t get any better. How you explained the way you arrive at your composition was very interesting and will come in useful during the next few month. Many thanks for taking us along 😊
Great video some amazing images Gary when condition are right in woodland photograpy there are so many possibilities to create some stunning photos which have shown😊
Great video Gary. After your last video from there I did some homework to find the location as it was so inspiring. I was there two weeks before you and had similar conditions. Spent 3 hours there and got some of my best woodland images - one of which is now printed and on the wall - a first for me. Carry on inspiring Gary - brilliant.
Gary, I really enjoyed this video. All the shots were excellent and the locations were beautiful. I have to say the B&W at the 15:00 minute mark nearly had me falling out of my chair! If I had to choose one photo from your gallery that I would describe as overwhelmingly stunning, that would be my choice. Thanks for the video
This was a very excellent click. Fog is truly god's gift to photographers. Heh! I bombarded Alex's Flickr with stars, his foggy woods shots are total slam dunks and your site is equally chock full of visual treasures. The portrait jaggy concrete bits going out into the water was my favorite so far.
Hi Gary great video - I'm practicing both your fine Art & Forest shooting on a Canon eos 80 - have you any thoughts on a good profile to use - ie Faithful - Neutral etc Cheers mate - Pete
I like your enthusiasm, I too have been seeking that elusive shot of misty water or foggy woodland. Last year I managed to get a bit, with a few pics in Rainliffe Woods and Throxenby Mere near East Ayton, they were okay but not worth hanging on my wall. Still it is a great place especially when the mere is frozen over with a dusting of snow. I use a M Zuiko 12-100mm a nifty bit of glass for compressing images, though sometimes not quite wide enough at the 12mm end for some landscapes. It's also good for a bit of macro, though the shrooms have been in short supply on my walks this year. I should have gone to Padley Gorge and Bolehill Wood. So this autumn I've been chasing the fog, went to Fewston Reservoir and Timble Ings wood, by the time I'd got there it was fading away. Went around Elloughton Wold near Hull, forecast fog, nothing, the same when I went to Goremire Lake and Garbutt Wood up Sutton Bank, again the fog turned out to be a very light mist that was fizzling out. Nonetheless I will keep persevering, we still have a few days of autumn left.
Another brilliant video with stunning woodland shots! Gary, your enthusiasm shows your passion for the craft, and makes it a joy to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing😊🇦🇺
Beautiful scenes, and fantastic images Gary. This has just landed at the perfect time for me as I've a forest walk planned for tomorrow. Fingers crossed I'll also get some mist and fog🤞🏻
Great video and as I'm watching I recognise the location, shouting at the screen I've been there I have been where that wall is on an outdoor event. I will not divulge the event or location, but was gutted that I didn't have my camera and tripod with me as it wasn't appropriate to take with me. I will get back there once I have transport again. keep up the great work love it!
I consider the first video you did in this area as one of your most favourite videos for me. Now this one is another amazing insight into your fabulous photography. I would so love to attend one of you camera club presentations, however I live in Australia. Do you ever record you club presentations? I would love to see that. Thank you for sharing.
I know the first location very well, I can get there in around 30 minutes, always worth a visit, always a new composition to be found, just a pity the farmer has put the wire fence up along the length of the wall, cracking images though Gary,
Well, well, well. My local place. I was there 5 days prior. If I knew you were going Gary I would have met up with you. 😂 I could have topped up the coffee
Hi Gary, I must admit you inspire me with your fine art photography, I did go to cleveleys to take that sculpture in the sea, the giant shell, my photo came out reasonable, but I was hoping if you would give me a clue where this secret gem is in Derbyshire, I am not to far away myself, I think this is a good location to start me off with landscape photography, if you have a work day here sometime I would like to join, I think you have amazing photos, you did inspire me to buy my Nikon camera, Dave
Try editing the Monochrome shot with Golden Sheen 😊 Regarding the " single branch" I'd go with the Fern in the lower foreground ( isolating it, tight framing, shallow depth of field, and Courtney would hunt out the little mushrooms LoL ) 😋 Ps, your last talk to camera ( as a portrait man ) feast of shots there for me LoL 😊
It’s a dilemma lol if I wait to look for compositions the light may change and the scene is different but if I click away afterwards I think I could have done better so I try meet the dilemma somewhere in the middle lol. Great Scene tho Gary ❤
Gary, Great and so near to my local patch. Was only there on Tuesday in the Snow, did you manage to get back ? Just posted a very quick edit of a picture on the facebook group
Hi Paul, I didn’t go back. I just bought a new van and there’s no night heater in it, yet. 😁 Plus, I didn’t think the snow was deep enough. I can’t see your picture??

Now then! Well that was a bit of a lovely morning! Landscape muted beech tree! Chefs kiss! So sooooo beautiful.

I was going to go there on Tuesday but I didn't think there was enough snow to justify the trip. Clearly, I was wrong. Damn
@GaryGough I thought the same tbh mate. When I finished work at 14:00 didn't think it was gonna be worth it. But so glad I went.. 🤙
Another great video Gary.
You were certainly blessed with the conditions.

Absolutely stunning image's.

Man in the mist with trees and a camera, what could be better? Great video and great images!😀
Wow, Gary, I think this is your best ever video! The weather helped put it over the top. Does anyone else agree?

Gary - another wonderful video. I can’t get over how sharp your photos are. What do you use for sharpening? Thanks

I would have thrown some leaves on the bare earth patch on that silver birch shot.
I did think of it :)
Very nice indeed.
Thanks 👍👍
Some fantastic images Gary
Cheers Paul 👍👍

Loved that, just done a four visit autumn shoot at llanwonno, brilliant colour this year, time to edit them now.
Cool Beans David. You retired yet?
@ yea two years now been photographing local these last few years, few health issues atm hopefully sorted by the new year 🤞
I've noticed you're busy with your camera 😁. Hope everything is ok, health wise m8 👍👍
Well, well, well. My local place. I was there 5 days prior. If I knew you were going Gary I would have met up with you. 😂 I could have topped up the coffee
Wish I knew Lee. Keep an eye out for when it snows, I'll meet you there 👍👍
Awesome mate.
Cheers 👍👍
Shared this video with our camera club. I belong to Truro camera club now and they are a lovely group of people. 😌

OK we've had the snow, did you get back? Looking forward to seeing what it looks like
Sadly, I didn't. It didn't snow too much where I live, so I didn't think it would be worth the drive. Damn!
Stunning shots Gary, how do i find local woodlands please?
It’s a dilemma lol if I wait to look for compositions the light may change and the scene is different but if I click away afterwards I think I could have done better so I try meet the dilemma somewhere in the middle lol. Great Scene tho Gary ❤

Thanks for this video. I missed what filter you were using. Can you please share that info? Maybe it's not important... 😊
I always use a poloriser in the woods. It only effected the colours slightly, but still worth it.
Gary
How are you handling D O F with the compressed woodland shots.
👍 tel us when you are in holland.
Gary the Great
😁😁 Cheers 👍👍
£195 seems very reasonable. I thought you were going to say £500 or somewhere thereabouts.
Naaa, I enjoy doing them and like travelling. Plus, I'm not here to fleece local camera clubs 👍👍
Awesome photography, Gary!!! I gave Alex a follow on Instagram and liked his work!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
