The minister for justice in any government can't sack a judge for a decision they don't approve of.

The US has a highly prison centric justice system. They have more of their population incarcerated than any other country in the world.
But they still have a higher recidivism and crime rate in every way than here or anywhere else in the developed world. Getting state sanctioned "revenge" on criminals doesn't stop them from offending again.
Countries like Norway have a very successful prison system with one of the lowest recidivist rates in the world.
I would say we should look at who's doing it best and copy them.
She seems out of her depth in this very difficult position, perhaps tourism or fisheries.

The gardaí obtained the CCTV footage from local security cameras and after that thug pleaded innocent when first arrested and claimed he was attacked first, the guards showed him the footage and only then did he plead guilty when there was no denying the evidence.
Because he admitted his guilt there was no need for the prosecution to present any evidence in court.

The rotten to the core irish legal system at its best, would love to see the cost to this case plus who knows who private investigation leading to the solicitors, barristers and the judge being found accountable and standing trial with them paying there own legal fees

The legal process in the defense forces means that they have to wait for the civil court to conclude it process first.

What women can do to stay safe is control the controllable which is what they say and do. In the past, women would engage in stay-safe behaviour, but now they get stuck into an interpersonal conflict that can lead to violent outcomes. Natasha had nothing to gain for herself or the people who were subject to this man's obscenities by verbally engaging with him. Don't try to talk reason to someone drunk or emotionally out of control. There is an old saying "Often a person's tongue breaks one's nose".

She's a change agent spewing out scripted talking points to promote various aspects of the overall agenda.
Limerick is officially to be Ireland's first "Smart City" so this helps promote further surveillance (including more CCTV and monitoring of online activity).
Very brave young lady. I hope she lends her voice to help other women in the same situation particularly the young girl who was assaulted on the flight. These suspended sentences for violent crimes must stop. But it is public policy to have lenient sentences so the soloution is with the government and the justice minister.

Our public servants should start by holding the Catholic Church to account for the mass murder of so many infant Irish citizens in its care. Do our duplicitous moral betters not know that the worst crime a human can commit is to rob another of the rare chance which every child who fought in its mother's womb to be born gets to live for a short time? This is not to take away from Natasha, who should read a new Irish book called A Twist in The Tale of The Devil in which the Vatican is asked by its financial director to put many shared global wrongs to right.
