What is it with Americans. Hemsworth can understand it. Just Americans who have never met anyone except other Americans.

+Simon Dover Australia is very multicultural, has a lot of Europeans in it, so probably used to conversing with them.

Australians are nearly as insular as America (socially). But in the cities they meet people from lots of places, regardless they read up on world events. Their nightly news includes any flooding in Bangladesh, or bus accidents in China. They watch news magazine programs about life in India or Burma.
      Do Americans?

Simon Dover Americans read magazines on Kim Kardashian and UFC fighters

+Simon Dover It's funny how you're basically generalizing Americans because of Lily Tomlin, yet, complete gloss over the fact there is another American on the couch who didn't seem to have a problem understanding him. Maybe you should stop pretending that supposed USA nationalism is anything more than arrogant xenophobia from just the simplest people around the world.

the man is from Glasgow like me and his accent is authentic. I should also say that if he was talking to someone else from Glasgow his accent and slang would make you think they were speaking a foreign language instead of English

I'm guessing Glasgow. I spent a month in Scotland, and Glasgow was the only place that I caught myself squinting while trying to understand people speaking.

+tinaUNDAcova I liked when he told Lily she was giving him a dog look, when she cocked her head to the side, and then Graham chimed in with "Is he saying out? Is he saying treat?" She's squinting pretty hard right there too. LOL

I'm from Glasgow and I've spent a lot of time clarifing my accent because it's difficult for people to understand but as soon as I'm with my Glasgow friends I can say every slang.
I can't understand perfectly what he's saying but I find it so interesting when people don't.

His accent is so thick! I couldn't get a thing when he first said it, and then I rewound it and closed my eyes and I got almost all of it. He said he used to have a routine with a joke in it about how when someone is convicted of attempted murder, they get a lesser sentence than if they actually committed murder. He thinks it makes no sense. They should get a double sentence for trying and messing it up. "Making and arse of it."

She's really disrespectful. Like I know she's an old woman so she prob thinks she earned the God given right to say whatever she wants regardless of whether she offends anyone.....but like. You don't need to interrupt Chris while he's talking for starters, and then secondly, is it really necessary to degrade a mans accent in front of an audience, I mean if you miss one or two words cos of his accent just let it go OR GET A HEARING AID.

She was being an old hagg. like most annoying old ladies ^^ and it didn't look like he was enjoying himself. ill call someone out on their shit if i want to, it doesn't make me boring- it makes me a good person ^^ you must have the most boring sense of humour if you think degrading a mans masculinity for fucks and giggles is funny.

she knew she had accidentally cut him off and asked if he was going to tell a story, as not to be rude and take over. and sorry, but that is the most ignorant native english accent in existence, so it's his fault things didn't go smoothly.

Im Irish so i completely understand him, as there is accents in Ireland which are just as thick and strong. But no there wouldn't be many people in mainland Europe that would. Especially with English not being a first language. I have to talk really slow and think about how im pronouncing stuff when talking to even English people at times haha
