The highlights are really poor this year = each game = 1 or 2 tries only. Really 7s is a very entertaining form of rugby and the Traditional HK Sevens Tournament is one of the highlights of the year with all its history and should be promoted a lot more.
It seems 7s association with 15s governing body is somewhat detriment?

If it's highlights why do we have to watch players walking off the park?

Wow - Aussie beating Fiji! Amazing!
Great to see the NZ men coming back into form - about time! They've really struggled this season.
The NZ women seem to be going well but the men have been going like a V8 running on four cylinders!

Let's go through the evidence as you are onto something here.
First, overall forward pass is called out too often when there's variables such as:
      * Momentum of the player + ball in air creates some deviation forwards
      * Hands facing backwards provides a fair assessment of the above and if it releases backwards but wobbles in flight forwards
      * Minor 50-50 between the above with a verdict of "Flat" being a fair call for rugby by the officials.
However, in the case you cite, the 3rd measure can be used:
      * Look at the position of the player passing and the position of the ball when caught in relation to the sidelines.
From this 3rd measure, I conclude the pass was indeed FORWARD.
This was obvious in REAL-TIME and should have been officiated. Secondly on replay the hands and arm motion looked to be facing more forwards as well which confirms the final destination of the ball. The player momentum was very low finally.
We have a very convincing verdict: The pass was clearly forwards.
To the other commentators, you've understood the above measure which it is important to know about and actually ref in real life to gain more experience of.
I'll say it again it's called too often by people who don't know the above measures but in this case it's clearly forwards using the 3rd measure in particular and backed up by the other 2. The 50-50 "Flat" is a fair grey zone for refs when it's marginal between these measures and "PLAY ON!" is the correct call again too man people don't understand this is essential for rugby to breathe.

You just exposed yourself by saying the SA player was behind when in fact he was slightly to the left. Like I said the SA winger was running his lane, the Esp forward (notice the mismatch) subtly drifted left seeing out of his peripherals this guy was clearly gonna beat him. But the SA player was wise to strong tactics and kept running straight right through the forwards arm block which caused the bloke to fall. Whining is for losers, just be better.
