Strip and paint the originals. That way you end up with two sets of pristine bumpers to go with whatever mood you're in.
I would strip and paint the old ones since they have already been rechromed once and you could always get them rechromed in the future if you feel the need to.

Lucky.. Strip and paint the originals.. And keep the new ones to switch out every now and then to give your truck a different flavor!
What about just doing a wrap or plastidip? And it'll protect the Chrome incase you decide you wanna go chrome in the future..or yea just strip the old ones. Love that Truck!
Like everyone else is saying, strip original ones. Get them painted, and show off all the dings, and dents that give so much character.

Put the chrome bumpers on the truck while you get the old ones stripped and painted. Then see if you like them. If not I would wrap and store the new chrome. Always good to have options.
Hook up a couple small blowers so you have a lot of smoke coming out of the corners of the box. Put the original bumpers into the boxes for future consideration and wrap the new bumpers in white. If you decide you want the chrome look, just peel off the wrap. Thanks for all the great videos. Regards - Mike
Strip the old ones, pound the dings out (or not). Make sure to do the bolt heads, too - nothing looks more half-arsed than nickel-plated heads on paint/powdercoat. :)

Tough to beat on a buddies car. Good on ya Mark ! Get them to send you some blanks to paint or powder coat, and shave the bolts. Be a pity to strip all that beautiful new chrome. Best days to you Lucky !

Hello Lucky! Great weekend here in Minnesota at Back to the 50's. Hotrod overload! I would blast and paint or powder coat the originals if your into the painted bumper look. The new chrome are too nice to strip. Building a 61 C10 now and planning to run original painted bumpers. Thanks for sharing the work you do. Happy Fathers Day......

I would rock the new bumpers as is Lucky and get the factory ones redone in white. Keep the dings on em too bro.
I would strip down the OEM one and then get them powder coated that way the rubber won't stick to it the next time you have to let the smoke out of the tire

after all chrome gets ya home
you can always return these as they haven't been dicked with
the originals get them fixed and painted as the chrome looks like it was applied by blind larry and try em out in white or whatever colour you chose

White for sure!! My 69 has a white front bumper but so far no luck finding a factory white rear bumper. Great videos as always and keep them coming!!

Strip and paint the originals, and put the chrome one's back in the box in case you change your mind later.
Weigh them first! Nice to know how close the aftermarket is getting to original. But I say strip and use the lighter ones. If it doesn’t go, de-chrome it!
Strip/paint the originals and install the new chrome while the originals are being refinished.

Definitely strip and paint (or powder coat) the old ones. Put the nice new ones on in the mean time. Might grow on you. :)

If you strip and fix original bumpers to paint. If you ever decide to put chrome back on. The originals would be able to get recorded.

Take the new ones to a vinyl shop and have them wrapped in white. What about that “removable” paint you and Tony did on HRG project car?

Prolly cheaper in the long run to start with the repops; less labour to get them straight and looking good in white. But damn, they look really good for repops! Have a good one, Lucky! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦

You should go with a satin white wrap or satin white single stage urethane paint on the original bumpers that are on the C10 Shop Truck with the masterfully executed dimple died front center and wonderfully natural patina'd rear....Now, take the brand spankin' baby @$$ new AMD bumpers and give them the black chrome or black semi gloss wrap treatment for shows. Then, be absolutely certain that you get that C10 Shop Truck looking perfectly Classed Up with some Tough World decals man!🤘👀🤙

Bling the reproduction ones for a season while you strip the originals for paint.
I would strip and paint the original bumpers.
Paint the originals,return the repopped chome ones and spend the returned money on the chevelle wagon!
Thanks for the Video....How about you "Rattle Can" the originals while still on the truck your favorite choice of "White" before you make any hard to reverse decisions, and see if "White" really rings the bell. I don't know what the Return Policy is at AMD, but I'm guessing a healthy re-stocking fee plus shipping...Just my .02...

There is no way in hell I would ruin that chrome ! Those are sweet... Do the original bumpers and sell the nice chrome ones
Strip & paint the original, because,
1. it was re-chrome already
2. dents & scratches of original bumper add character
3. the reproduction one is surprisingly good as chrome alternative

I would wrap the new ones in white. Seeing all of that smoke reminds me of when I was a kid back in the 60's/70's. When you could literally see the air we were breathing in L.A/ Orange County CA. You could drive down the mountain from Big Bear and see the thick brown haze that was the air we were all breathing.

I'd leave the new ones chrome and put them on the truck. I love your truck definitely goals for my 68 c10

Myself I would refinish the originals if they are in good enough condition for the look you want, if not then use the new ones.
I agree with the others do the original bumpers and paint them. You can always get those Re chromed.

Consensus, rightly so, seems to be strip the old ones, but - the second they told you heirs were chromed as well, I'm surprised you still ordered them? Their chrome looks pretty good for modern chrome though!
Well, which ever set you go with; I like the idea of welding on the bolts and shaving the heads, for that subtle clean look.

Nothing fits like a factory bumper. I’d strip the new ones, and paint them.
Paint Simi / Satin White, Just did a custom 1970 442 but with painted bumpers, aka Rallye 350. Great Look

Strip and paint new ones and when theyre ready put them on. Then strip and paint originals and and hang em up. One day you may need or swap fer whateva.
Thought on the bumpers: maybe have them wrapped? I was leaning more toward black than white. I think it would be really cool if you could get close enough to the shade of red on the rest of the truck, but that might be tricky… maybe experiment with rattle cans on the original bumpers? Like the bling, but they have to be painted. Would have stripped the old ones to save some $$$$.
You need step bumper for rear, but if your going to paint do the original ones.

I think you should keep the new ones chrome and take the old ones and strip them and paint them you’re not losing anything they’re already pretty much damaged anyway so it makes sense to strip the old ones
