The mayority of people will always go to extremes, which is sad although I think spanking is all around useless compared to other things you could do I think just letting your children exist with no direction or with too much direction will inevitably end up having the same outcome a kid with no purpose because his parents didn't even teach him basic things and a kid with no purpose because he was never let discover himself and was expected to be someone he wasn't, balance indeed my friend

My mom and my dad split in front of my eyes ten years ago. My mom got custody and my dad had to pay £165 monthly which is meant to support me and my two brothers. He raised that to £230 at his own will, we were never told, we weren't even told that he was paying that money. We were told that my our dad ran away and hates us. I was neglected for years thinking nothing was wrong and told that my mom was "busy" and wanted us to grow up and be independent. We had to go to the store for our own food, make our own food, never got breakfast, lunch or supper. never went anywhere. My mental health was pretty bad by the time I was 9. One time the police came to our house in the middle of the night while my mom was on a night shift (10pm - 7am) we weren't told why but I know now that it was because none of us were above 18. We got the choice to stay with our mom or go to our dad. Keep in mind I'm the youngest brother, I'm 10 at this time, middle is 12 and eldest 15. Me and my middle brother went to our dad. My life turned around. I finally found someone who loves and cares for me and my brother. He's amazing. The best dad ever. In short, know your boundaries, what is free range? what is strict?

Free range parenting means you experience the bad and how bad it is, however this can lead to you not being scared of anything which can lead to bad things. strict parenting mean you can’t experience things so it dwells in ur mind, once you can do things urself you often find urself doing everything you can or never doing anything because ur scared. Depends on the child, I’m scared to do a lot of things unless I know what is going to happen, my sister however will do anything and is not scared. I will say I was strict parented when I was younger than 8 however free range over that age as my mum had a change of heart and mind and no longer agreed with beatings which she did because that’s what she was brought up with.

All of us and our parents have a loving relationship, we don't fear our parents we do smth wrong we get spanked but that was as a child now if we do smth wrong we get scolded or talked to cause they know that we've matured now and physical forced isn't needed at all. A young child's brain hasn't developed enough and their psyche isn't mature enough to understand the decisions they're making as well as understanding what their parents truly mean which is why some physical force should be needed obviously no abuse or any physical force with anything that isn't a hand tho

I had my share of spankings back on the day, when we are babies the only thing we know how to do to get what we want which in most cases is milk is to cry really hard and claim our moms attention as soon as possible, and this carries on as the child gets older and is something that has to be rid off as soon as possible as the child starts speaking, because if she can speak she does not need to cry to express her needs anymore, if she wants something she has to say she wants it or point or make gestures or whatever, not cry, one of the things that we learn as kids is that we should not let emotions control our actions.
I remember my mom telling me that one story on how she made me a "decent child" after my first time on the supermarket which was kind of like this, It was my first time on a super and I was probably stunned with the amount of shinny things all around me and that probably made me want them to myself really bad and I started having a Baby Rage and screamed and cried and made a scene to get my mom to get me what I wanted and she told me that if I did not stop she would spank me when we get home and I probably just kept screaming, by the time we got home she had obviously not bought me anything and told me I was going to get spanked because I made a scene at the market, and that's what happened and I've never done anything like that ever since lol, because she made sure to remember me of what I did to award me a spanking which is very important, a child should always know why she got spanked period, just being spanked without knowing why might be what causes some of them to have psychological problems later on.
Me and my brother were very violent with each other when younger, and when things got intense because we let our emotions take control of our actions which would obviously lead to bad consequences we were punished, usually with a belt or flipflops (which was my moms usual way) on the back of the legs and ass, and when it was really bad and there was a tree with really thin branches nearby my father would usually take the thinnest one so it would hurt really bad but would not leave any bad marks by the next day which was the method he used when my brother fled the house on the morning without telling anyone and only came back at the noon because me and him had a fight early that day, by that time the police was involved and my parents lost a day at work because they thought he was kidnaped, and every time I got myself in a similar situation that got me a spanking previously I would remember what my dad or mom told me before and after I got the spanking and restrained myself to not commit the same mistake again, because children mostly know when they do something wrong but if no one puts a limit to it the child understands that it is okay to do bad stuff because there is no consequences to their actions, not every child needs spanking, like most of the boys in my family needed to be spanked to be kept as normal functioning human beings any less would be to soft and they would do the same thing again and again the same was true for me, we usually where given lighter punishments only getting to that point when needed, because in the end we are just animals some of us are tamer and some aren't, I was more on the naturally violent side of things like most of my boy cousins.
Thinking that no human ever needs some level of mild violence to be kept in the right path is kind of presumptuous.
A tendency that I've seen a lot in my family at least is that the girls are way more submissive when they are put on a spot and tend to do stuff to please and resolve discord and because of that they almost never even got a beating and the boys are usually very daring and pushing things to the limit of what is acceptable and usually causing discord and competing about trivial stuff to see who is the best, I'm the oldest one as the male and I can garante that the only way that I was able to form a decent relationship with all of my cousins which at the start would disrespect me including, kicking, punching, throwing stuff, calling me names or whatever would be solved with violence in which we would almost always wrestle and only after I've beaten the living shit out of them (Just enough to only hurt) that they would actually respect me and come to visit regularly to have fun together as families usually do.
I love and respect my parents more than anything in this world, I would be nothing without them "literally", they are the light in the tunnel, the Juice in the wasteland.

I will never be a strict parent, it never worked for me when my parents were strict because the fewer things they let me do the more things I wanted to do. which almost ended terribly for me. When my parents got mad at me for drinking alcohol, that made me drink even more alcohol, not because I necessarily wanted or needed more, simply because that was the only way for me to feel like I could actually decide over my own life and what I do, which has always been important for me to feel like I can decide by my own. And soon enough I started taking drugs, and I know I can't blame every bad decision that I've made on my parents, but I definitely wouldn't have felt the need to do it if I've had more power over my own life. And as I got older the more I felt like I didn't need to follow orders because when I got big enough I wasn't as scared of my parents hurting me or taking stuff from me anymore because I knew that I was stronger and obviously this led to more physical violence in my home and the more we fought the more I wanted to fight, it never reaches a limit for me because I can't stand the fact that they would win over me and decide stuff about me.
Obviously, not everyone works the same and most people might be able to handle this shit, but that's not how I work, it's not how my dad works either, he is exactly the same, which points to the fact that it might be genetic and an even better reason for me to not be a strict parent.
Strict parenting gave me PTSD, Social anxiety, addiction to cigarettes and drugs and I can't stand anyone that tries to force me into doing something. It breaks my heart seeing the chat and xQc agreeing with the strict parents because I believe most of them have never been in my situation.

When they're young, they can't tell the difference between right and wrong, so they should be guided during their younger years. A good parent will lead you to follow your own path, teaching you values so you are able to fulfill your desires, beeing able to function in a society so you can make friends and live a happy life
leaving your child to experience everything on their own, basically puts us back into a time before a civil society

I grew up with strict parents and it made me want to go wild and experience stuff. I got on drugs and alcohol real bad and now I know why they were trying to protect me. I am so thankful for them for getting me out of that lifestyle when i was on the brink of death. Now I know they meant well being strict.
Now since I have first hand experience of going wild, I will be strict to my kids and let them know what I went through and how miserable it was on drugs with all the withdraws and everything. All the kids I grew up with “Free range parents” are still on drugs and there family doesn’t care. I was saved by family when other families didn’t care about there sons and daughters and what they did and so many of my friends have died. I’m so glad I had a family that cared about me to never give up on me because I PROMISE you, I would be dead FOR A FACT wayyyy long ago but I’m here because they were here for me and tried to prevent me from getting exposed to all that. I understand why they were the way they were and I am so beyond blessed they got me to snap out of it before I OD’D and would have been gone forever.

My black friends are what you might consider to be real blacks, like straight out the hood. A lot of my white friends are republicans who come from nice areas. Not once have I ever seen racism, like I don’t understand how so many black people say that racism affects their lives so heavily. Just my 2 cents.
