I'm 3 sessions into dming this campaign. It is the most roleplaying I've ever done and the most I've ever had players do. This is not a bad thing lol. They just arrived in Thurmeister. Carl Sargent was a genius when he wrote this for the things he doesn't tell in the book. I did inform my players in session zero that classes such as paladins, cavaliers, lawful good priests would not be recommended I am also working on expanding the goblin enclave to be larger than originally written.

Im here right now with my group. I inserted some city based way that other groups were using to teleport to the Sunless Sea. Theyve made alliances with the mind flayers and the Rockseers and are about to go explore the Ixzan Pyramid.
Sorry, but "We should cut a deal with tanar'ri to foil the baatezu" doesn't have the same ring as "we need to deal with demons to counter the devils." That change alone was possibly the greatest of second edition's many sins. That being said, this is still a cool adventure, though I've never been able to run the whole thing. I'm using some of the locations for an adventure I'm working on now though, so it will get some use at my table.

My ongoing campaign is linking itself to the Night Below, however I have made it the plot of an elder brain rather than the aboleths
That can definitely work, elder brains are a great sub for the aboleths. Good idea to have in mind for future games!
