Banana is fiiiine, especially in the blocking phase, but yea you have to break it up with smaller strands and an overall denser flow, otherwise it could look like play-dough! Hair is reaaaaly dense in details in real life, so if there's no details in the painting, is gives an awkward effect I think. To me, even just some color splattering to give an impression of detail already makes the job for a sketch phase :)

Your way of studying improves by reducing the banana syndrome so much. It's still slightly bananas there in your longer hair design but keep working from chunky to detail and watch out for keeping the distance dynamic between from big to smaller details that are grouped wonderful instead of evenly distributed. You've got this!

I absolutely love your artstyle and the way you create objects from brushstrokes! Aaand even your banana-like hair looks pretty dynamic and luxuriant I think :D But when the hair becomes more detailed and airy, like thin strands, the art becomes more realistic and pleasant to my eyes. I am proud of you!

Wow. I didn't think people struggled with hair. I take it for granted because I have so much practice. I didn't think of banana hair. That is so goofy. It reminds me of the music video for "I'm Going Slightly Mad" by Queen. Freddy has a clump of bananas on his head and sings "I think I'm a banana tree." Oh my gosh! That song and video is a trip. This video definitely shows how hair can be improved. It is rendered more realistically without ruining the character designs. The method shown in the video is similar to how I render hair in digital art. I do something like that. Then I take it even further. I finish off by painting individual strands all over the hair. When I do, I maintain the shape, shading and color that was established earlier. Rendering hair doesn't just work for humans. It also works for certain animals. I do horses with hair texture. This texture is in their mane and tail. Most of the body has extremely short fur. That is tricky to render. I am not sure what is the best thing to go with. Grass also benefits from a hairy texture especially when it is in the background. Grass doesn't clump together very much. So it is a bit easier. Atmospheric perspective helps a lot when making realistic backgrounds. So I highly recommend making near grass darker and far grass lighter.

first of all I really love the rendering of your skin and how you drew that face,m it looks AMAZING
AND especially how you rendered that blonde hair looked so GORGEOUS i was SOOO FASCINATED
but i wanted to give some feedback to your initial hair rendering:
I think some more individual dark lines on the top part of the head, and maybe some streaks of highlight, showing some more hair strains would look better because for me it looks more like a block of pink, except if you were going for a more simple look but then it kinda doesn't "blend" well into the lower part of the hair that is below the ear, around the neck area as this part seems more detailed then the upper part, it just comes off a bit unfinished the upper part in my opinion ro rather just glossed over (if that sentence makes sense?)
I hope you understand even though english isn't my first language :')
Other than that i think you're art looks amazing, this is my first video from you and now imma gonna search for some more
