The math teacher is eating poop because he, among others, was living underground while the aliens took over the Earth. In S03E01 there's a scene where he emerges from the sewers. Apparently they had very little to eat there and once they've started eating poop, some couldn't stop.
krzyszwojciech it's crazy how much sense that makes
Yeah, I'll accept that.
You gotta love this show for the detailed world building.
krzyszwojciech WOW! Hard to believe that I can still learn more about this show even though I have watched it like 3 times
Wow....I'm obsessed with this show and never thought about that. Just when you think you know it all......thank you comment section.
"don't worry, he died doing what he loved: being a dumb rat!"
I love how quotable this show is.
the therapy scene made this episode honestly. I appreciated the writing and the clear, concise way the therapist narrowed down Rick's issues. It also gave the fans an interesting perspective for dealing with mental health issues.
It's a shame most of it get overlooked because of loud obnoxious shit like "I'M PICKLE RIIIICK!" cus le funny meme xDDDD
Without really thinking too much about it other than random and loud.
I think Pickle Rick is funny, not because of that fact but because it's just so stupid and petty that he went out of his way to put himself in such a situation just to avoid therapy and having to address shit. All this shit he had to go through that day was because of that and he still has to do it anyway by the end.
No, it was the piece of shit new writer Jessica Gao self-inserting herself into the episode so she can write herself as an intellectually superior individual who can pick Rick apart mentally. This season was garbage compared to the previous ones because of her. Thank god she's not writing for Season 4.
And of course the therapist's evaluation of Rick was cut out of the reaction :/
Jove Joved So every other episode where Rick picks apart others beliefs, actions, logic, and science isn't counted as self-inserting themselves as intellectually superior compared to others? Your making something out of nothing and complaining about it just because the show had one therapy session with Rick, Beth, Morty, and Summer.....do you REALLY think that or do you just see therapy or any sort of psychological evaluation as an attack on intelligence due to your own insecurity and definition of intelligence??
@@ShadowDuty7 No issue with therapy. Large issue with hack writers self-inserting themselves for self-gratification.
What i loved in the episode, it was not the memes, but the therapist's monologue. It was a nice sincere moment in a sea of memes.
misterlobsterman well memes aren't actually apart of the episode...just something you've subjected yourself to outside of the episode
It's meme-y humor what i meant.
misterlobsterman so the humor comes from the fact that memes exist
misterlobsterman if anything I think they are just calling back to how rick loves saying his own name like tiny Rick. calling it meme humor is just dishonest
Me too. :03
If the anti-pickle serum were to be used on a real pickle would that pickle turn into a human?
Yes, and it's name would be Jerry.
@@greyloc 😂😂😂
@@greyloc Pickles aren't Jerry. You just offended them all.
im humaaaaaaaaaan picklee
Maybe like a vaccine from ever being a pickle
"Creating an Ironman suit out of a rat" couldn't have put better myself. This is one of my favourite episodes. PICKLE RICK!!!😂😂😂
People focus too much on the "Rick being badass" action parts and not enough on the therapy session part. No one talks about that part. Whenever I see reactions people just cut out the part Rick is talked to and called out on his shit.
Well, that might be just because that part doesnt call as much reaction out of people, but they didnt discuss it so they might've overlooked the serious and well-put explanation of Rick's mentality.
Jon Goli Shut up seeing Pickle Rick being a badass was way more entertaining than some Therapist conversation to Rick which as u can he didn't care
@@LegendsForever206 dumbass
right? it's annoying honestly. the entire point of the episode was that rick turned himself into a pickle to avoid going to therapy and then when he did she told him exactly what his problems were which is why he didn't wanna go in the first place but very few people acknowledge or even talk about that
John Goli Yes, let’s talk about the somber aspects of a comedy show. Rick being a pickle is HIS therapy session... The journey back To his family and doing what it takes to get there. He went through this giant life-threatening adventure to end up at the literal therapy session at the end With his family. Come on now. Everything in Rick and Morty serves a purpose to the plot. No matter how ridiculous things get. The sub plot serves the main plot and Vice versa. So yea, Rick being a bad ass IS the best part of the show. At least that’s how I see it. It’s all subjective. Have a great one. Not looking For attention. Just like talking shows/movies ☝️👍
“Might be might fav episode....” wait till you get to Ricklantis Mixup :D
oh yeah thats hands down one of the best c:
Morty and that mermaid puss!
Gotta love pickle rick
No, you don't really have to
why? why is pickle rick even funny?
Pickle rick was originally a joke to make fun of their fanbase for liking tiny rick so much even though it wasn't even supposed to be funny.
The opposite happened though and pickle rick became the new tiny rick solidifying that rick and morty fans are literally retarded.
valazor Explains why you're here. Honestly, Pickle Rick isn't so much funny as he is unexpectedly powerful.
valazor I never explicitly said he was funny, did I? Also, I hope that's not you thumbing up your own comments.
Idk why y’all are getting them so pumped for an episode that’s just a one off adventure where they just go to Atlantis
RileysRealm I know, right?
Got some of that mermaid puss!
its because of that one joke about mermaid puss im assuming
Honestly wasn't even that good - the design of Atlantis was so generic!
The sign on the therapist's door read "Family Therapist, Coprophagia Recovery". So she's a specialist in people getting over eating poop.
lmao how do you even start that shit
By eating it
SuperBlueboy2010 I heard one theory say that while the intergalactic government was controlling earth some humans went underground to fight against the new government and had to eat poop to survive
jokes are always funnier when you have to explain them.... right?.......
....
TheBossFighters that actually makes sense
The whole point of the "pickle rick" plot, with all of its gratuitous brain-numbing action nonsense (which, unlike a lot of adventures, has zero long term consequences) was created exactly like that to prove the therapist's point about how Rick and the family use crazy sci-fi mania to cover up all the deep-seated problems eating away at them. That adventure was exactly the distracting brain junk that Rick uses as a crutch to convince himself that he's somehow better than the unhealthy dynamic thats tearing him and his family apart. The way Rick and Beth talked about it afterward, completely ignoring the conversation with the therapist, feeds into the kind of internal rhetoric that prevents them from confronting reality.
When people were so obsessed with "I'm Pickle Rick!" it really seemed like they missed the ENTIRE point of this episode.
It just seemed like the fans were allowing themselves to get pulled into the delusion like Rick did, when in reality we should've been paying attention to the ACTUALLY important stuff, stuff that indicates Rick is on a dangerous self-destructive path, a path that threatens to damage the people he cares about beyond repair (specifically Morty).
You’re definitely one of the face they showed they hate in season 4. Just enjoy the show.
Watch Bojack Horseman if you wanna see something like that. This is just crap.
Mmmm ok but the rat fight was insane, i just came to see that i don't give a fuck about ricks problems
@@jhonny1416 Fuck yea. Keep that family fucked up and entertain me.
Actually you have a point.
I'm so glad this is one of their favorites. Definitely one of mine! The memes didn't lessen the episode for me at all or maybe I just didn't see them as much as others. Obligatory PICKLE RICK!!!
Of all the episodes of Rick and Morty to be posted on Christmas XD
It's an expectation subversion that double downs on itself. We are supposed to feel let down (like Morty) when we see a brilliant character do something insignificant cause and I summarise "he can". Just like Rick, the episode gives the writers a godlike stature, only reason they did this episode is because they can. Next they ask us to be awed, "don't dig deep to find hidden layers, just be impressed."But the episode unravels into another movie gimmick where we do dig deep into our protagonist and the family after some fast paced action. Kudos to the writers, they give an appealing and original feel to used movie tropes.
That's a good way of looking at it. I have never thought about it that way...
Wow you must have a very high iq. This episode, and the humour went passed my head. I am truely an idiot. The humour was subtle but said something deep about LIFE
An effect of watching a lot of tv and movies. IQs are bs. :)
Nah the episode was crap basically senseless violence and gore to keep you entertained juxtaposed with the stupid therapy session that did nothing but tell us stuff about the family that we already knew...there was no digging deep into anything, it was a horribly bland episode. Also can you explain how they gave us an "appealing and original" feel to used movie tropes? you just said in the line before that the episode unravels into another movie gimmick which was the action contrasted with the family issues, so how was it appealing and original when it is as you said "a movie gimmick"?
Sir McFluffy To each his own. It's what I feel the writers were going for, and we know they are creative enough to think of it.
LMAOOO THE JAW DROP AT 7:23 FUCKING PRICELESS
Finally, a reaction that brings up *Danny Trejo’s* cameo
Susan Sarandon played the therapist
This episode has suffered greatly due to the fanbase. I can't tell you how much this was overused in memes and the likes. I'm glad you guys were able to get enjoyment out of it before you were exposed to the horror that is the Rick and Morty fanbase.
It is not really the fanbase itself that is the problem. It just goes like this these times. Simple solution: don't consume that bullshit to the point where you start to hate something you actually like.
I still love Rick and Morty but the fanbase is ruining it for me, especially the Szechuan Sauce freakouts and harassing female writers
what do you mean by 'harassing female writers'?
Ex Libris Because they added women to the writing staff in Series 3, they blamed an alleged "decrease in quality" on them, and harassed them on Twitter, leaked their personal details etc. It got to a point where Dan Harmon, one of the shows creators called them out on it
No8Named8Shadow why?
In the post credit scene, the pianist was playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. =D
7:20 - 7:25 do the slowest velocity, best react ever
10:09 WTF WHY SKIP THAT ITS THE EPISODE ARC
Guess it's an incentive to watch the full reaction on Patreon, then?
@Mankind - Redefined @Meteorite
I had to cut things out in order to stay within the content guidelines UA-cam enforces (otherwise videos get blocked and I would have to re-edit and reupload the video). I never purposely edit scenes out from the episodes so that they would be exclusive to Patrons, nor am I ever instructed to by the Crew. They're not greedy like EA. I'm not even a Patron, so I don't even have access to any of their reward tiers for Patrons. I edit these reactions to include as much of the episode as possible.
@Awpwn
Oh neat, thanks for the reply, Awpwn! Honestly, I was just being coy with my response about the fact that nothing of the episode was 'skipped'. I just thought they didn't react much to it as that had been a reason scenes were not shown previously, but yeah, obviously you can't show everything.
@DanteRU0312
I don't edit every video on their channel, just their Rick and Morty reactions and Star Wars Rebels at the moment. Rhop edits most of their anime reactions. I think he said that the best viewing experience for those series is to watch the OVAs between certain episodes or something. Rhop also has the largest workload out of us editors, so by only releasing the OVA for that week, gives him more time to work on the next full episode reaction.
@Meteorite
That too. Some people need to remember that these are REACTION videos, and not just a condensed episode of a show. If the reactors don't express much or take note of certain moments of a show, it'll usually get cut out to make room for the moments that really stook out to them.
im surprised they didn't notice rick still had the scar on the side of his body when he turns back into a human.
I'm jealous of Aaron's ability to be completely humiliated and not realize it.
Surprised you guys missed the Die Hard connection-especially on Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone!!
Mad Max: Fury Road is not an actual reboot, but it's a newer version of the Mad Max franchise, since at the beggining of the movie he remembers all the people that died in the previous movies (crazier than ever). And the explanation for ''How did he do that?'' is: he turned himself into a PICKLE that is fully alive and conscious, he can do ANYTHING!!!
Kinda wish we had got to see their reactions to the whole therapy session but oh well, I guess the memes were somehow more important.
Btw y do the rats have the Xenomorph screech
I just realize that
Nah man, Xenomorph's got their screams from rats in the first place. Those little things are demons.
Rats came first, so, ya know, check and mate.
i MUST know, where the f*ck did you get that Pickle Rick figurine
Awesome reaction. And you guys should add “Attack on Titan” to your list of reactions
Eating the hotdog was courageous because it showcased the eating of normal food as opposed to shit. When the man with the poo problems left, it was changed to a happy family for the patients there for family therapy.
A cat sends Rick into the sewer system and a cat (Jaguar) helps bail him out.
Shows up in recommended.
Knows I have seen it.
Watches it, again.
Wishes I could like another time.
End.
Dr. Wong is voiced by Susan Sarandon
Dr. Wong is voiced by Susan Sarandon
A Pickle Rick need a cucumber Morty
Maybe Morty would be a gherkin?
Summer Rose no shit Rick and morty are both human are they not
There's so much about Pickle Rick that doesn't make sense, even by the internal logic of the show.
I hate when they remove the clips
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 🎄
Whatever else you may think about this episode, you have to admit, it's one of the most creative.
RothRocks2000 - It sure is! And, it uses that creativity to work the many different story levels of the R&M series!
I'm not surprised so many commenters don't like it; you have to be a real fan of the show to appreciate it all!
I get if you're put off by the mindless violence, but I just find the entire premise of this episode to be amazing. I love when shows just say, "fuck it" and realize that they can do literally anything as long as it entertains their audience. Who cares if it doesn't really make sense, just be amazed that you're watching a show where a super genius turns himself into a pickle that is surprisingly badass.
Merry RickMas
one of the best episodes
Aside from Danny Trejo, the Therapist is Susan Sarandon. Please react to Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency!
BioCapsule Yeah, they should react to that strange strange show..... It's awesome 😆
+Eduardo I know it only have 2 season but still... unbelievable awesome weirdness.
BioCapsule That's why I wish to see this guys reactions to it..... Maybe if they liked Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy they'll be up to try this series.
My favorite tv show eveerrrrr
This is one of the best episodes
The second Mad Max is actually 'The Road Warrior'. 'Beyond Thunderdome' is the the third. 'Fury Road' is the fourth.
1:30 freaked me out a bit because I thought I heard someone in my room whispering pickle rick
Now everybody can get their "PICKLE RICK"s out and move on with their lives lol
To be fair...
Thumbs up if you want Blind Wave to react to Bojack Horseman after Rick and Morty!
ChevaliersEmeraude oh that would b really cool!
Adina Iobi I know! That's why I keep suggesting it as much as I can! Now I doubt they'd actually do it right after Rick and Morty, but maybe they'd add the show on their polls if enough people wants it and, eventually, we'd get a Bojack Horseman reaction!
I'd love to see that! It's probably the best animated show of them all (yes, even better than Rick and Morty in my opinion), but there aren't any reactions to it online...
I know im in the Minority on this, but i didnt like this episode as much as most. I thought it was really gimmicky and trying too hard at times. I never really got everyone's obsession over "Pickle Rick." I mean I liked the episode, but I just feel like its overrated. The season only goes up from here If you ask me!
Matthew Nash it was because of how awesome Rick was how he turned every situation around even tho he was a pickle it proved how smart/dangerous Rick was.
The season always goes up from the previous episode
How many time swill they prove that though?
We have known he was the smartest and most dangerous since ever.
it was more about he was running from his emotional problems, he drinks alot and doesn't even like talking about how he loves his grandchildren. Why would he tho? If his grandchildren die he could go to a different universe. Maybe his original family is dead and hes swapped so much hes just an emotionally void old man who can do anything he wants.
It's an expectation subversion that double downs on itself. We are supposed to feel let down (like Morty) when we see a brilliant character do something insignificant cause and I summarise "he can". Just like Rick, the episode gives the writers a godlike stature, only reason they did this episode is because they can. Next they ask us to be awed, "don't dig deep to find hidden layers, just be impressed."
But the episode unravels into another movie gimmick where we do dig deep into our protagonist and the family after some fast paced action. Kudos to the writers, they give an appealing and original feel to used movie tropes.
Love the discussions you guys have before and after the video. They’re so fun to listen to lol
Coprophagia: it was on the therapist's door. Dr Song's analysis of the Smith family was spot on.
He made a pencil sharpener out of a ray gun that takes AA bateries! RICK IS AWSOME!
steven franklin - And THAT is yet another reason I prefer devices to be powered by AA batteries instead of built-in, rechargable Lithium - Ion batteries!
: >
while i enjoyed this episode
it really snowballed out of control when it hit the bad side of the Rick and Morty fandom
Before I watch this video, just wanna say, *DAMN HOW MUCH YOU GUYS ROCK,* like.. at first I was like.. well their reactions to R&M are.. okay.. then well I love how they analyze and really care about the show and details.. then I liked you all... NOW.. I've spent last few days running through your amazing videos, like game night, "Best Blind Wave moments", and other stuff.. man, your videos are FUN!! I was like wow.. really?! these guys react to rick and morty! that would be awesome.. oh wait that's how I found them in the first place..
Also, I always heard this: "Hello guys cruel blind wave here, I'm Aaron, I'm shane, I'm calvin, I'm Aaron" and always go like.. what are the chances of 2 Aaron's? also why cruel wave?... Ericccc give the c a big k sound lol xD
It's "crew at BlindWave"... Even I didn't get that for a long time until they explained it in one video :)
Pickle Rick "memes" aren't funny.
Double negative?
gokumax son so they are funny?
Oh shit I'm sorry, the cocaine is bad u.u
Pickle Rick people are like the Lil Jon/Dave Chappelle people from 2004. No matter how bad it got, Dave Chappelle was STILL awesome. Just like Rick and Morty is STILL awesome.
No memes are...its why they are memes and not jokes.
Its the funniest shit ive ever seen
Calvin is so handsome
I suspect the Native Americans eating poop thing is a myth. The only sources I've seen on it are college humor sources like Urban Dictionary.
Wowoowowo I loved this episode so much, probraly my favorite of all
i really don't get why people love this episode so much. The pickle Rick catchphrase is extremely dull and unfunny and this episode was more of "Fuck you Rick can do anything" Than an actual intelligent show.
I don't know what everyone is talking about. The ridiculous ramp up from being a pickle to fighting a mercenary in a Russian embassy is way more entertaining than the therapy session. Yeah, the dialogue was interesting and nailed Rick's character. But what else is there to say on that?
this was for me, the start of the decadence
Am I entirely crazy or did Jaguars name repeatedly get pronounced as "Jackwire" instead?
There are two ways people tend to pronounce it. ‘Jag-Waar’ or ‘Jag-yoo-ar’
This is the stupidest fucking episode ever and I love it
My favorite episode
1:31 *pickle intensifies*
it’s a christmas miracle
I think this is when I realized that Rick can basically do anything he wants. XD
And this episode is where the fan base started being cancer..
There's a new dragon ball z abridged out you guys should react to it and include Rick in the new dbza reactions
Ricklantis Mixup is by far the best episode in the show
I'm going to call it now; Ricklantis Mixup is going to be their favorite episode.
Funniest bit of this episode to me was the eating poop therapy, and eating hotdogs is courageous.
AWWW porque nadie deja la reaccion completa de la terapeuta ???!!! :C
Yes, that was in fact Danny Trejo
“I think this is my favorite episode.”
“Of Rick and Morty?”
😑
We all, at some point, eat our _own_ metaphorical _"shit",_ in order to maintain our delusions of normality, be them in effort to maintain toxic relationships, or harmful habits/addictions.
💩👍
Rewatching this episode confirms my opinion on it. It's not really that funny. It's cool, but not funny. Screaming pickle rick randomly isn't funny, it just makes you look stupid. Memes didn't really change my opinion on the episode, just made me annoyed at fans
The new harley Quinn show is good, yall should watch that
Anthony Chun is the BEST director for Rick and Morty episodes !
Awesome reactions, tell Aaron to stop spoiling through out the video please its obvious.
I feel like Pickle Rick split the fanbase. There are normal people who just like the show, and then there are the fucking idiots who feel the need to turn everything into a goddamn meme. This episode exposed the memers and caused the rest of us to essentially reject them. Not necessarily a bad thing.
when he turned into a pickle, that was the funniest thing ive ever witnessed
this ep. proves to me how Rick is like a top notch born survivor
Eh, I personally hate this episode. The nonsense with the pickle is fun enough but every scene in the psychiatrist office is boring as fuck and nothing that woman says is interesting, funny or enlightening about the characters.
And then everyone ready for the next episode, one of the worst episode in this series so far imo. D:
Eh, my least favorite episode tbh, even before the memes.
He was eating poop because the Galactic Government took over Earth and he as well as many others moved to the sewers to survive. Having no options they started eating poop to survive.
They have watched this episode they're just fake reacting , or else how could've Shane known when Rick does parkour
Did y’all realize that there’s not a reaction to Season 1 Episode 9 “Something Ricked This Way Comes” or is it on another platform?
to be fair...
This one of my fav eps
Is it just me or is the sound mirrored?
That Russians named him Solenya. It's a russian word for pickled vegetables.
There are people that eat poop because when the aliens took over the Earth to be part of a galactic government, some people create a resistance and lived in the sewers.
"How long have you been eating poop?"
By far my fav ep of this show idk y it will always be
This episode is definitely one of the best
"Rick Sanchez" just replaced "MacGyver" as a saying in my vocabulary.
